Great video. Thank you. I have a Meteor, last year's model, in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The stock handle bars are just right for me. I was 5'9" back when I used to ride a Bonneville, in 1968. I have shrunk a little. so I am not sure about how many inches above 5 foot I am. But the seat height is perfect for me, especially when sitting on it and backing out on any kind of grade or on mud. Not sure what you meant about the foot pegs; to me they are okay, just too far forward. So my feet are a little more in front when underneath me would be better. Like bumping over pot hots and speed bumps, I want to press down and lift my weight onto my legs a little for shock-absorbing. This is problematic on the Meteor. I wonder why you have not noticed it. A windshield I have never had. I believe what you say about it keeping a lot of rain off you. A luggage rack and saddle bags of course are necessary add-ons and I have trying to come up with the right ones. RE dealers in Thailand are not concerned do not stock them and are not inclined to bother about getting them for you. A shame. You don't have to make a case for luggage. Everyone knows it is necessary to have your clothes besides tools and air pump and first aid stuff and rain gear.... when going on long rides. So my concluding question is what about all this extra weight ? On a bike that is over-weight and under-powered to start with? Maybe at your height and reach you do not have any trouble man-handling the machine over logs and breaks in the pavement at low speed. But does the bike feel heavier to you at slow speed with all this stuff? Accelerating? Breaking from speed, going downhill? The only accessory I have on so far is the bracket for the cell phone for the Google Maps. I cannot make the clock thing work to give me maps. I have purchased a side panier that is lockable and also a rear carrier thing to hold luggage. But neither is right for the RE. It would take some tools and some time to Mickey-Mouse them onto the bike. And you have to get a big metal framework to hold those saddle bags - which also make the ride wider. I know there are high-lift cams available but I am not sure they are worth the expense and trouble to add 7 horsepower. I would really appreciate your thoughts on these points.

I have a '99 TC 88 FXDL. Twin disc front. Solid rear. Forward controls. V&H straight shots, fueling 525. SS buckhorns. like a sportster on 'roids. Had an 883 4 speed chain drive solid engine mount but the tank range wasn't up to much. TC88 has more vibes than the evo FXDL I had before.

I think it’s the single cylinder, medium capacity, low down thump-thump that makes you love these bikes. I bought an Enfield Bullet 500 in around 1998. It was a piece of shit! Wheel chrome was awful, heavy, wallowed in corners and an absolute pig to start with the decompression lever and having to get piston to TDC and swing down, fearing you’d be thrown across the car park! But I loved riding it! I live in Australia now and would love one of these to travel round our vast island. The wife thinks differently. 😢

All motorcycles are girls bikes. I bought a used iron 883 (700 miles) just a few weeks ago. Also have a Street Glide, and a Softail Standard. Aside from the styling, the Sportster is ALMOST the same bike as in '57. So, actually.....it's the last "real Harley" .... air cooled 45° V twin made. Historical bike, baby! And those evo's were the heartbeat for 40 years. And, they sound great! Hey ...remember the Super Glide? Only 1000 cc. Was that a girl's bike too? Oh ...btw, sporties can make more horsepower than a twin cam. I love mine....

RE will soon relaunch Classic 500. But enthusiasts in India says it'll be more expensive. Classic is a work horse in India, it can pretty much do everything with little bit of customisation, it shouldn't go in niche category.

What about the rear wheel alignment? You just count turns presuming all was good before? No laser? No any other measurements? I would at least check marks on both sides or better measure the distance between swing arm mounting and the rear sprocket. Just to make sure. For all of you beginners do those extra steps for your own safety.

I'm looking at both. I think that a set of bar risers on the W would help, so that would be a cheap way of increasing comfort. The seat on the W is way more comfortable and a seat change on the RE would be a much bigger expense. My main concern is dealer availability. Where I live the closest RE dealer is over 200 miles away and that is pretty much a deal breaker. Kawasaki dealers are all over the place. One advantage is the W has tubeless tires and an available optional center stand.

Then Himalayan is a ground breaking iconic bike and from the start I immediately fell in love with its sheer radical practical " Willys Jeep on two wheels" design and I have always admired its rugged no nonsense looks, but folks, please bear in mind that the Scram is not a posers version of the same fine design either. Checkout the MAD crew from Australia who have made a short CZcams series about riding the Himalayas on 4 Scrams and found them to be highly effective and to be losing nothing to the Himalayan. Remember folks, the entire reason why Royal Enfield still exists today is because the 1950's Indian Army adopted the 350 Bullet with a 19 inch front wheel as the perfect bike to be patrolling some of the most inhospitable mountain "roads" on Earth. I recall the MAD Ozzie Team hit well over 15000 feet and the little wonders took it all in their stride whilst being 32 pounds lighter than the Himalayan. I personally love them both equally, the Himalayan for its practicality, and the Scram for its gorgeous stripped down back to basics style (dare I say 2023 version of the original Bullet?'), so for different reasons, a bit like children.

You sure make it look easy!!!! Much appreciate detailing which wrench to use at each assembly point - that is BRILLIANT!!! I've watched a couple vids on this and I'm going to depart from the sequence in the instructions. Seems like folks attach the carrier to their vehicle and then load their bike up on it and THEN adjust the wheel cradles. In my vast world of ignorance and profound laziness I believe I have an easier way to do this assembly. I am going to roll my bike into the wheel channel while it is not attached to anything and while still on the ground. THEN I'll adjust/attach the cradles so they're perfectly spaced and centered. Once that is done, then continue on with the assembly. I have a Honda XR650L so it's not too hefty, but I am lazy!!!!

15 km short of 60 000 mine got smashed at a crossroads. But I'll spend whatever it needs to get it fixed, that's how much I love it. (even the tricky agricultural gear box with it's many false neutrals). Found a spare one sold for parts, to share with a friend who owns the same model, 2013 euro3. A pity they will soon be banned from the LEZ where I live, so I just bought a barn in the Ardennes for it's old days.

For my first bike I wanted something not too powerful and also with a low seat height. I'm new and I'm a short man (only 164cm or around 5'4"-5'5" I think) so this bike was my choice. Going to get mine next week!

i droped my 2024 Adventure ABS the minute I touched mud and bent handle bar with Barkbusters. I bought the Dunlop Trailmission and a set of Tusk Adventure tires and I think I will install the Tusks first. After 3 months with my KLR, I think I made the wrong choice of bike... too top heavy and too many things to replace (footpeg, crash bars, skid plate, shift lever, etc...), i should probably have gotten a KTM 350 EXC-F. In it's current condition with original tires, I don't trust my KLR until I change the OEM tires. I do mostly gravel roads and the occasional trail, but that bike is too heavy and ackward to go in trails.

OMR it doesn't just LOOK like a bike that came from the 40s and 50s it IS a motorcycle from the 40s and 50s. Those bikes on that mountain trail make our bikes in the West look like pampered garage queens. Great video, thanks!
