Thanks, this really helped me, I just put in some new peach trees and I now realise they are too undeveloped to prune them this year other than maybe cut back that central leader a little like you did the previous year. I've got to just let those scaffold branches develop this year and then I'll see what can be pruned. I haven't done very well with peaches so far, I think I pruned them way too hard the first year I put them in.

That is older than 2 years, I started one from seed four years back and it is about that high.

No my friend, you'd bttr prune that vertical off in entirety. I had a similar small peach tree & i left nothing vertical in the middle. I am glad i didn't. Get rid of that shoot
