I Miss Blood in the WWE...

- The WWE banned the usage of blood on its programming way back in August of 2008, the same time they went TV-PG. It has been 15 years since that decision. Since then we have had some instances of blood on WWE programming, which almost every time included Brock Lesnar. While those moments most of the time were awesome, in my opinion there is still a void that is left. Wrestling without blood, while can still be awesome and has been awesome many times.. I can't lie, I still miss it in the WWE. It is something that I grew up with, something that I feel is important in PRO WRESTLING, something that when I see it done right in AEW, it just makes me wish we had it JUST A LITTLE BIT more in the WWE.. its been 15 long years since its been banned, and even though over the years I got used to WWE without blood and kind of forgot about, lately I must say I Miss Blood in the WWE. Lets talk about it!
- Hry
I used to keep a washable red marker in the box with my wrestling toys and slowly mark up their faces as my “matches” would progress on. THAT’S how important blood was in the WWE back in the 2000’s.
We must have lived the same
Childhood because I did the same thing except with permanent marker 😭😭
Hell yeah dude, same!
I LOVE IT! 🤣🤣
@@dontaviansmallwood7889
Yup did the same thing with the big rubber Wwf and Wcw wrestler figures as a kid in the mid to late 80s especially when they had a long feud I booked
I remember I had Hulk Hogan vs Jake The Snake in a steel cage match and had them both bloody with red markers all over their faces and mouths
Fun times
I used ketchup
Without blood, the ending to Bret vs. Austin from WM 13 wouldn't have been as memorable. It added a lot to the first Cell match too.
On WWE games it was crazy.
You see it on their hands and chest.
Ikr hell in a cell used to be the match where careers go to die and lives are changed the blood really added to the match being so brutal.
Stone cold raising his head off the mat with the sharpshooter applied will always be memorable
I remember everything except the blood yall trying to hard to make this shit gory
@@FlowboyVegas1quit lying 😂

Things I miss from old days:
1. Blood
2. Rock music ppv themes (saliva, skillet, veer union). It is so fitting to wrestling, and hypes me up for matches
They kinda fixed that stupid ppv names, called by match types (you cannot schedule a hell in a cell or last man standing match, I think it should be used when feud reached boiling point, not because it’s December lol), so I still hope they can change first 2 )
The rock themes for PPVs were a highlight for me. I didn't have PPV access, but the promos showing the song/album put me on to a lot of great music. They also remain in my Apple Music Playlist TO THIS DAY.
Don’t forget the old titantrons, but some of the old themes for wrestling more, I agree, but I guess they changed it to mostly hip hop and generic music to attract a young audience
@@footballismyproperty1723 absolutely on point! I also miss unique titantron style for each PPV. Summerslam 2008, that giant star on wrestlemania 25, cyber Sunday. It was awesome
Spot on!
Facts, I don’t listen to much rock . My rock playlist has hella songs used in ppvs and some entrance songs lol
I feel like it’s a good storyteller and really shows you the risks that these guys put themselves through, even if it is a work, the pain isn’t. I always think of Judgment Day 2005 JBL vs John Cena, easily one of the bloodiest matches I’ve watched.
definitely, Cena’s entire face was just red
Funny thing how at the exact same event in 2004, against the same exact opponent, eddie guerrero wore the crimson mask
@@sakshamsharma3527 Or The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin at WWF WrestleMania 17 in 2001, or Triple H vs Shawn Michaels at WWE Bad Blood PPV in 2004.
This is why I loved blood in WWE, it was used for story purposes, and when needed. People talk about ECW or Death Matches, and yeah those get gory, but it’s just a torture p*rn spottfest just because. Blood in WWE even back then felt different because it showed how intense the feud was.
Umaga VS Cena is another great example
WWE without blood just doesn't feel right, especially when there's a heated feud.
exactly that’s another reason why i stop watching that much

Orton bleeding in Backlash 04 literally made ppl think he was tough enough to be a star in the business, so why not?
It was only necessary for the big rivalry matches like Hell in a Cell or No Holds Barred. Best example of this is of course HBK vs HHH. Blood was a good addition to bring depth into a storytelling match
I'd argue the best example of blood in a high stakes match is Bret V. Austin in the submission match, as the crimson mask arguably gave Austin that one last push He needed to Be a Main Event Player, but HBK V. HHH was really great too.
The fact that WWE still does steel cage matches and nobody bleeds blows my mind. Same with HIAC. Those matches used to guarantee one or both of the competitors would be leaking at some point in the match
Ikr it should be saved for HIAC matches because it was known for changing people’s lives or ending careers.
@@hij4cker21cage matches I don’t care if there’s blood or not but war games, no holds barred and hell in a cell matches should been at least maybe blood in a match here or there
I remember extreme rules random ecw match between RVD vs hardcore holly. HH superplexed RVD on to a table on the outside of the ring and cut his back open . Then both his went full tgrottle after the break and we saw everything. In that match ECW accidently turned HH face.
Blood was such an awesome element of WWE storytelling. When it was used right, it legitimately showed to us, the audience, that the wrestlers were willing to die for us, and prove to us, that they would do ANYTHING to win the match for us. That is always amazing to see, and as a result, made matches way more dramatic and way more intense and chilling. It would be amazing if it can be brought back full time in WWE, but I know it won’t happen on a while. Here’s hoping one day it truly happens one day.🤞🙏
Meanwhile now we have hell in a cell matches being stopped because of the most stupid stuff 😂
@@tee_brickg3435Hell In A Cell 2019 ending on a DQ LMFAOOOO 😂.
They were going TV 14 at one point but for some reason someone thought it wasnt needed. I think they will eventually go back to TV 14 once HHH runs out of creative ideas. Its much more easier to write a compelling story and create baby faces and heels with blood and TV 14. They're see how far they can go without blood at the moment.
The worst blade jobs in WWE were definitely Eddie at Judgment Day 04 and John Cena at Judgment Day 05 (both conveniently wrestled JBL in those matches😂)
I miss the jbl gimmick.
JBL must’ve been a lot of pressure to work with
JBL was like bully backstage but i still loved that character this is something i see in gunther title reign
It’s also crazy because Rey was bleeding under the mask against JBL at Judgement Day in 06 too. 😂😂 It was tradition for JBL in that era. 😂
They were all at Judgement Day too
If I could ask for blood to be back for ONE match, it would be Punk vs Rollins. There’s some legit heat there, and to see these guys both with crimson masks at wrestle mania fighting for the world heavyweight championship… damn that would be one for the ages
There is no legit heat there😂

The 2000s were an amazing time. Blood on Smackdown! and Raw was a rare sight but it helped elevate wrestlers during a match or a segment.
I don’t remember it being that rare honestly, but it didn’t hurt.
when WWE was good and watchable not like todays boring product too kid friendly now
The blood made a match a little more real. You could see the intensity and the story telling in that match. Now the people are so soft and they get annoyed just because it's blood in a freaking wrestling match.
Watching a hell in a cell match or a last man standing match without blood is a weird experience....no matter how good the match is I always end up feeling like something was missing....
I think bleeding should be done in HIAC, No hold barred and Maybe EC matches. Batista vs HHH at Vengeance 2005 is a perfect example of when bleeding is done at the right time.
After this video
Next raw : becky lench bleeds
Next smackdown : la knight bleed
Yuuup
Blood was such an amazing storyteller in WWE. When it was used right it showed us that the wrestlers were willing to die to win the match, to destroy their opponent and do anything to win the championship.
Blood in WWE needs to make a return. That’s what made most matches in the late 90s to 2000s so memorable than most matches now. Wrestlers bleeding can make them a superstar.
It used to be a guarantee someone was getting busted open in any stipulation match. I definitely don't think blood needs to be as commonplace as it was back in the mid-2000s, but it should really come back when a match warrants it. For instance, Hell in a Cell matches do not hit the same without that aspect at all, as good as some of the recent ones have been. Imagine Rollins/Edge or Rollins/Rhodes with that extra little part, Cody with the nasty pec and a crimson mask fighting through it all to get the win would've been even more insane than it already was.
people saying blood is useless is WWE are the same people saying modern wrestling is better than the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Era
Wrestling in the Attitude Era was garbage. Nothing but glorified promos and segments.
@@christophermarriott1681 ok so if you dont want the spectacle of it why even watch ''pro'' wrestling, just watch actual real wresling the one with the red and blue gear
Iam watching this video on 26 March 2024 today ROCK made CODY bleed 🩸 on RAW
I agree with most of the points. Blood should be saved for matches that need it and done in a way that enhances it, but doesn’t overdo it. Yeah, the Cena and Guerrero examples looked amazing, but isn’t necessary to that level. I’m also concerned about some kid accidentally blading themself too much trying to mimic what they see and I also think about how Undertaker miraculously avoided catching Hep C from Bob Orton. If it can be done where it’s realistic and safely test for the wrestlers, then sure.
I can see where you’re coming from. When it comes to the Bob Orton situation I think that can be mitigated ahead of time potentially? Idk maybe if blood is going to be used and they know ahead of time, maybe they can do a check for stuff like that? I’m not too sure if that would be possible but just thought.
@@Jnwbossthere certainly are tests for it, although there is still an inherent risk to it, especially if someone does something like Hangman drinking Swerve’s blood. Blood tests aren’t always accurate, they don’t test for every single possible issue in one test, and I imagine that it done very frequency, can be time and money consuming. Again, if done safely, limited, and not doing things like Hangman, I’m all for it.
@@elsassypineappleah okay that makes sense
As a former kid that knew wrestling is a work:
You have no idea why they start bleeding, you dont know if or with what they cut themselves.
Thats not gonna happen. Also, Parents exist. Maybe watch your kids in an age where they are so extremely impressionable and not old enough to realize what they are doing.
ITS BAAAACCCKKKKK THANK YOU ROCK AND HHH
Even though ive grown up during the no blood era, going back and watching stuff from attitude era, and ruthless aggression era, blood is so important to wrestling. The person doesnt need to lose a gallon of blood every match, but even just some blood makes these moments so much more special
I can't believe this man gave me the shocking realization that people don't want to see blood
I mean not everyone does
I remember when I used to play the SvR games as a kid, my favorite match type was a First Blood match because everytime I’d play the game, every match involved me making my opponent bleed
I still remember that hell in a cell match between Brock Lesnar & The Undertaker i swear brock made taker look so mortal after he defeated him, come to think of it after rewatching the match it just felt like a foreshadowing of Brock possibly being the one to end the undertaker's streak at mania which eventually happened
Triple H was always great at bleeding to the point his entire face was covered. Stone Cold was great especially since you can actually see where he bladed
WE GOT IT BACK TONIGHT BROTHER
When not overused, and when done well, it’s absolutely awesome. So I agree, I hope it’s used in WWE justtttt a little more
At the same time we shouldn’t call for them intentionally cutting/slicing & bleeding for our entertainment, it is kinda weird. But unfortunately yes, I (and many of us) do like it, it seems more hardcore and serious
And hopefully it isn’t incredibly dangerous and doesn’t have bad side effects, short or long term
Y’all miss complaining about WWE don’t y’all

Of the top of my head, Eddie vs. Chavo at Royal Rumble 2004 and Cena vs. JBL at Judgment Day 2005 are underrated, and while this match ended in the retirement of a man, The Hardys vs. Kendrick and London vs. MNM vs. Regal and Taylor is one that i think sells that violence aspect that some ladder matches, and definitely ALL modern ladder matches can't duplicate.
Well to be fair on that 4 way ladder match, Joey Mercury did actually get busted open and not in the safe way. Dude lost part of his vision that night

So do I and I always have, it was always one of those things I never grew accustomed to and thought it was silly that they'd do something high profile like Hell in a Cell and not bleed (unless it was the hard way) and AEW at least delivers on this. Just watch Hangman vs. Swerve from Full Gear. Incredible.
Thankfully, since Dunn left WWE, we've had two bloody matches from Raw and SmackDown in proper bangers
It’s crazy to see this after I was just thinking that the Elimination Chamber lost the feeling of how sadistic the structure is supposed to be when they stopped letting people bleed during it
I wanted to say that your videos help me calm down from tough situations and I thank you for that. I love your content!!
Reminiscing to when cena all bloody in the face made umaga pass out with the stfu using the rope at the 07 rumble. Man good times 💯
just make sure to tell Mox that it´s not in every single match
Grow up, kid. Moxley bleeds because wrestling is a simulation of a combat sport. You don't watch wrestling. You watch watered down sports entertainment.
Triple H: we’re above blood now the company is better than that
Also Triple H: hey doing a backflip through a table and landing neck first on the ring would be a great spot
When did Triple H start booking for AEW? That's a mudshow spot if there ever was one.
Blood in wrestling is like serious moments from comic relief characters. When done too much, it can be bad, but when done just enough, it can really increase the drama.
This channel renewed my love for wrestling again

Even as someone that wasnt big on blood, i can absolutely attest it could be a HUGE moment in story telling
Two rivals are so intense in their fight that they are willing to draw blood. THAT is a great sign that a feud is truly intense. Sorta like a DeathMatch or a Mask vs Mask match. Shit has gotten to the point of THAT deep

In WWE Brock vs John Cena, Brock vs Randy Orton, Edge vs Finn Balor are the moments I still remember.
In AEW bleeding spots happens in every match and I don't remember any of them. They don't stand out.

When Brock was accidentally cut against Cody recently, the impact it had on the match was huge and it sold it. If they brought back blood but use it only in huge matches that really call for it, that would make the match so much more memorable.
Wholeheartedly agree. I forgot which NXT Samoa Joe match it was but he started bleeding mid match and they had to stop for a second to clean it up. Always thought that was weird

Blood adds to the visual appeal of a match , even if you dont know the story if you see a guy in color in tv you are hooked even if you didn't knew what the story was .
It adds a new layer to the match
The goat is back yet again
The problem with blood, at least to my knowledge, is
A. Blood carries with it many hazards, including blood borne pathogens and diseases such as HIV or AIDS. If I recall correctly, Bob Orton was fired for bleeding in a match with Undertaker despite having Hepatitis C and failing to grasp that he could have infected someone.
B. Blade jobs can be incredibly risky (Eddie Guerrero) and can cause serious harm and potentially death. This isn't even taking into account the scars that bade or botched blade jobs can leave on a wrestler.
I actually agree with everything in this video. The WWE needs to learn what made a lot of fans starting to watch pro wrestling in the first place. Having no blood in matches makes no sense, but bruises and scars are acceptable? Honestly, I hope in the future we get blood back in matches.
You do realize pro wrestling started in the 80s way before blood in matches was a thing right.
@@alexandermontejo447 Yes, but there was a reason why pro wrestling in the late 90s became popular and having blood in iconic matches was one of them.
