In this case, The FA just seems to be bending to the pressure from the Premier League.
Only 3 (this blew my mind!) teams are outright owned by English born and bred folks. 1 other by an Iranian born Brit
1 more of those teams should be included.... BUT! Luton is the ONLY club owned by its fans in the Prem... and bless their hearts for fighting dirty to keep it. Fan owned clubs should never be painted with the same brush as demonspawn like the Glazer Family.

Just another insult to the EFL and lower league clubs, the disrespect and greed keeps getting bigger and bigger. Football is nothing without the fans and communities that make the sport what it is. The FA and the Premier League will never be punished as they are above the law and can do whatever they like and get away with it. It is disgusting but that is the truth sadly. I feel and feel properly for fans from the EFL and National League, matches like Maidstone pulling off a shock win over Ipswich nearly three months ago is what makes the FA Cup special. As a Chelsea fan I find this concerning, yes less fixtures for us, but I feel like certain managers (Kloop and Arteta) started to not like it, it was never a problem until they turned up. EFL clubs have 42 game’s minimum per season with a tight squad to PLs 38 and some having a second team on the bench (city, Liverpool, arsenal). Thats what makes me annoyed about scrapping the replays, if a PL side face a EFL/non league in the FA Cup and then do a replay, use the players on the bench to rotate because you rotate them for PL/UCL games, why not here. if you have a problem with it due to amount of games on players, that’s your problem not the EFL/non league teams who have to play those players week in week out.

Also it’s a bit more, I don’t think you realise how big the FA cup means to people, just because it’s not as hyped as it used to be dosent mean that it’s lost significance, this lack of hype only happened when klopp and arteta had their hissy fits like little children over it. A reminder of those changes to the FA Cup in 2024/25:
    1. No replays.
    2. Preliminary rounds will be scrapped. That will save the big clubs from having to travel to non-league grounds with their muddy putches and basic facilities.
    3. Rounds 1 to 5 will be scrapped and the competition starts with 8 teams (Quarter Finals). These will be the top 8 teams at the end of this season's Premier League.
This will reduce all those fixture-clogging, one sided matches and therefore eliminates all that travelling for players and fans of teams who have no chance of winning the FA Cup. The demands on the players from the top 8 clubs will be much reduced.
    3. Top 8 teams will all field reserve sides (so, no real change there then).
    4. Proposal for 2025/26 FA Cup is that there will be no knock out rounds. Just the Final, contested by the 2 clubs with the biggest bank balances (as usually happens anyway).
    5. Proposal for 2026/27: the Final will be scrapped and the trophy will be awarded to the club with the biggest bank balance in August 2026.
    6. Proposal for 2027 to the forseeable future: see number 5.
    Hope that clarifies things.

I’m 54 yo and I remember the excitement that surrounded the FA Cup when I was a kid. Seeing teams thrown together that you know would never happen is the whole part of loving the FA Cup. The big match revisited recently showed Barnsley v Enfield Town (trust me Barnsley was like Liverpool FC to Enfield Town) and what a game that was! Enfield got a replay,a big gate and welcomed revenue and Barnsley got the the win but that’s all part of the magic. Replays have only been scrapped because of fixture congestion and its to protect players from serious injuries. With UEFA and Fifa increasing games it puts more pressure on players. Footballers are not robots. I still think replays should be in the competition though before round 3 because it doesn't effect the top flight teams.

Clubs like Liverpool and Man City rock up at an FA Cup third round fixture with individual players worth 50 years of revenue for the host club. If they can't maintain squad depth then that's their mismanagement. Likewise, if they would you know, just win the game then they wouldn't NEED a replay. That's their problem to solve, not the competition's.
Championship players can easily end up playing 55-60 games per season if you include international duties, even without deep progression into the FA or League Cups. They don't just sit around twiddling their thumbs during the international club/country breaks.

Lower division sides always host no matter who they play against. Premier League managers always complain about the match schedule and how many games they have to play. The FA just gave a solution to one area of that, and now everyone is crying. Maybe, England should worry more about developing their domestic players so that their Mens National team can actually be successful. Their Women's team are looking like they will win their first World Cup before the Men win their 2nd.

Heres what i think is going to happen now with the replays being taken away, whenever a smaller team is up against a big team regardless of home or away they will play for the draw and try win on pens. The bigger pressure will be on the bigger teams and players in the moment. And we will see alot more shock results where big teams draw 0-0 or 1-1 and lose on pens. That is the only silver lining from the rule changes. Footy was fine the way it was, champions league is now an actual league kinda instead of groups n knockouts and makes no sense at all, the FA cup is scrapping some replays, mid week games and makes no sense to do so. Add in the financial impact on smaller clubs missing out on the big away days and big ticket sales. When they already dont get enough as it is. Its just aweful decision making, stinks of corruption and big club bias. What is this game coming to? They cant get VAR right half the time, make up rules and they go along for ffp to suit whoever brings in the most dosh for the corporate CEOs, change them when teams are starting to break into the top tier and the bigger richer clubs start slacking just to maintain the position as the power merchants, then just break the rules and change them all again to suit their own needs and protect their own pockets. Its almost like people who are in charge of these horrendously bad decisions and rules are not even interested or like football and just focus on making the most money for themselfs. Rugby anyone 😅
