I have been wanting to make this video for a few years now, so here we are! like I say in the video SEVERAL times, this video is not meant to spread any hate (I dont do that on my channel) but I just wanted to share with you guys my reasons for dropping my sorority at Auburn. war eagle!

I know this isn't the main point of the video but girl it spoke to me. I'm going through a very similar situation with my dad as well... mean degrading things being sent to me & he blindsided me about not paying for college as well. It's been really really hard on me emotionally. I want to thank you for sharing that small portion because it makes me feel like I'm not alone. I would love to hear your experience on how you overcame it emotionally & how you were still able to pay for college bc girl I'm struggling all around. 💕
Girl you sharing this means so much to me. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. It’s so hard finding someone who feels your pain, but I totally get it. Informative video. I never thought about now students today have to deal with the pressure of social media let alone pledging and being "judged." It was tough w/o social media in the early 2000s. I came close to pledging until I learned of its history then I decided not to. It didn't feel genuine to me.

I hate dealing with abusive parents. My father made my highschool years horrible. Hoping college is better.

I think this is all really fair. You get what you put in, but it wasn’t for you. I’m glad you made some good friends through recruitment. A lot of people don’t realize that life can happen and change your plans, I’m sorry that you had a hard time with your Dad.
I’m a DG Alum from LSU! Side note my parents are also divorced and I struggle with my relationship with my dad so I empathize with your experience! But you are so great for sharing your story I’m sorry sorority life wasn’t for you and I understand some days I thought about dropping! You are amazing!

I applied for a suspension last sept after being an active member for a year, yet my sorority still charged me different fees and they now threaten me to pay all the outstanding balance or else they would send me to collection. Do you know anyone who has a similar experience before?
Just don’t pay them. They can’t send you to jail for it I’m pretty sure.

So if you get into one, do you have to switch dorm rooms?
You don’t! The sorority halls happened to be in the same dorm area where I lived my freshman year (the Village). I lived in a different building so it happened to be right next door to me. But starting sophomore year I believe you have the option to be put on a list to move into the sorority hall (not sure the exact process of who is guaranteed rooms). 🤍
Why is the sorority so into social media? Why does everyone have crazy fun professional photo shoots at school everyday?

Do you know anything about the Chemical Engineering at Auburn? Do you feel like the professors at Auburn r good?
Yes!!! so actually several of my friends in college were studying chemical engineering, and I know it was an extremely hard yet rewarding program! Everyone that I knew that was in that program loved it, and they all have amazing jobs now! Auburns engineering department as a whole has such a great reputation, and is one of the best in the country!

What dorm should I stay in?? Quad or something else?
I had so many friends that lived in the Quad and LOVED it. My freshman year I lived in the village, and it was amazing. You share a room with 2-3 others, but you have your own individual bedroom. I lived in South Donahue my sophomore year, and it’s similar to the village but a little bit nice than it. (I only lived there because my scholarship covered it). But honestly I WISH I would have lived in the quad because I feel like there you get the true college experience. You share a room with someone else, and I believe share a bathroom with that person and two others. But it’s right in the center of campus beside all your classes and the student center (hey Chick-fil-A and Starbucks), and a short walk from downtown. Everyone I know that lived there was friends with everyone that lived on their hall! Also I had friends that lived in the Hill, and it’s a little farther and not as nice, BUT you also share a room with someone to get that experience!!
@@ClaireDawe I took a tour of Auburn back in February and absolutely fell in love and know it's where I want to go. As part of the tour, we walked through a room in the Quad, so that's the only one I knew what it looked like. Thank you for your input!! And War Eagle 😁

I kind of think it’s weird that you have to submit pictures of yourself since they claim that they do not choose you based one looks but that could just be my opinion
Macy Cruz they match the pnms to the members to figure out who they have the most in common with so it’s a way that members can know who to talk to
^^ along with that, it helps the members remember which girl they talked to
Your generation must love Metallica like my generation loved Ozzy Osborne. I look at you and think you're young and pretty, so I'm sure you can go to many parties without belonging to any sorority.

Most schools require a minimum GPA to go through recruitment, pledging, and become an active member. Just like if you want to be on a collegiate sports team, they want to make sure that you keep up with your academics. And from what I recall, the sororities themselves also have a minimum GPA requirement.
@@sp1057 Yes at most schools as a freshman you have to have had at least a 3.0. And while a member you have to maintain a 2.5. Both of which are not that hard to have. However, it does make you more “competitive” to have a much higher gpa.
That's a typical thing for Greek life! Both my sorority and my college have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA requirement- it's so they know you can balance and time manage bc academics should always be coming first before having to keep up with requirements for extracurriculars.
