  • In this video, I went to Elite Physique Gym in Redditch to see good friend, John Buckland.
    John had wanted to put me through a novel type of training that he’d utilised with a number of clients, and as it was something I’ve studied in the past, but never had the opportunity to trial, I jumped at the chance to be put through work out by John
    What is blood flow restriction training?
    Blood flow restriction training (BFRT) is a specialized type of physical exercise that uses external devices to limit the amount of blood flow to a particular region of the body. By restricting blood flow, BFRT can stimulate the body to build strength, muscle size, and muscle endurance more quickly and with less intensity (weight) than traditional resistance training. This type of training is becoming increasingly popular, as it can yield excellent results with fewer reps and less weight. Additionally, BFRT has been found to improve joint health and aid recovery after physical activity.
    I can honestly say this is one of the most painful sessions I’ve ever gone through. You hit a point of muscular failure in the first couple of sets and just never recover. The pain is incredibly intense and relentless…. It was so much fun. 😂
