- Baby when I tell you Nicci Gilbert and I had an amazing sit down conversation!! We sat down for an hour and talked about the inception of Brownstone and 90's R&B, R&B Divas and what ultimately lead to it's demise, and her pending litigation with Starz over P-Valley.

Baby I watched every CZcams video you made. My mom was battling cancer and passed in 2014. We would watch every video and we even called each other Nessa because she loved to call me and my sister with Tea. When my mom passed, you sent your condolences via IG. I’ll never forget that! Me and my sister call each other Nessa to this day. I’m that person in the background that will always root for you.

I have to listen to Grapevyne at least a few times a week. That’s one of theeee best r&b songs period! Her voice is insane.
Nicci is well spoken and is very good at telling a story. She is more articulate than reality TV made her out to be.

This interview is very commendable. The flow was smooth and these are the types of conversations grown folk want to engage in.. What it took to break into the industry during one of the best musical eras. What happened to R&B?Nikki looks great and Funky continues to display why he didn't need fox soul but how fox soul needs him.

Funky Dineva! TY! for this incredible interview.I was fortunate enough to work with the group Brownstone when they came to perform on MTV's The Grind! The ladies were so sweet and kind to the entire cast, I kept making serious eye-contact because i was dressed head-to-toe in Michael Jackson designs. I Remember it so well, We all had an Amazing day filming that episode about 30+ years ago. Nicci Gilbert still looks so beautiful,as i remembered...Great Video! Beautiful Sister💖❤
I’m about halfway through the interview, and I’ll say it’s nice hearing her provide some insight on what the music industry was once like. When you had to have “it” to be successful and true, *distinctive* talent mattered. Now, all these girls have to have is 96 inches of Peruvian silky, a BBL, and a half-whisper-esque voice, and BOOM-sold. And don’t let them be able to run through every sentence of a song.

This may be unpopular, but Funky could EASILY occupy the Wendy Williams role IF HE WANTED TO. I know he is happy doing this and he will continue to protect his happiness. I love it.

I was a teenager in the nineties and I would listen to the quiet storm on K97.5 at night in Raleigh, North Carolina before I went to bed. The nineties was epic and I’m glad I got to hear it. I remember R&B music in the late eighties as well, I miss those days and the music is not the same.
