    Oh my goodness...
    To finally get a peak into his studio is a dream come true!
    When I first started making music all I did was listen to his music and pick apart every individual layer of the track and study it.
    He was my inspiration for every note I played 3 years ago. He taught me to expand my view on other artists to finally create my own sound!

    dude , this is fantastic ! , really great tutorial , I thought u used some kinda drum Machine and throw the samples there , but the way u arrange everything in the timeline its pretty amazing , it almost feels like someone hitting an acoustic drum kit and gettin' those sounds from it hahah , really cool !

    Thank you for sharing!!! This is honestly what keeps me inspired watching other artists and their obsessions with strange sounds. The oddest one I had was feedback from unplugging/replugging the mic whilst recording. Awful awful sound but ended up with a cool gravitational pull kind of sound! Xx

    Amazing. Thank you for this video. It made me remember borrowing a tow-chain from the gas station next to our France Avenue studio in 1989; I dropped it onto a section of a Yamaha cymbal stand, capturing it with a simple 57 into a DSM-1 sampler, then layered it with a detuned reverse snare for live performance.

    I had no idea until I saw this tonight, how many layers of sounds, each with a fun story, go into Adam’s music.
    Seriously, I really hope he makes more videos like this.
    I posted this in the more recent Fireflies video too. But the sounds in Adam’s music connect with me in a way no other music does. I would love to learn more about how the sound is made so I can put into words what it is I like about it.

    Umm.. I just discovered this today and I’m kind of blown away!! I already love the “Adam Young projects” but this makes you really appreciate just how much work goes into the music. Super cool process. It’s probably a lot of work, but you should def make more of these videos.

    Very creative with layering samples. I like the car trailer, I was literally beating on a simi trailer a couple weeks ago thinking this sounds as good if not better then my orchestral drums from my eastwest libraries. Thanks for the video very out of the box.

      Hey man, epic you got these great results. Because of this video I actually bought a mic because I loved that bass drum so much :p Now, I'm wondering with what he hits the car trailer? Is it just with his bare hands or does he use a drum stick/mallet for it? What did you use? Would love to know :D

    Very cool to see this. I really enjoyed watching and hope you do more of these. I never knew just how many custom samples you used in your songs like this.
    Also I'd love to see something like this for some of your older Owl City songs from All Things Bright and Beautiful or Ocean Eyes. Those songs had some really nice subtle melodies going on.

    Aah, been messing around with custom sampling recently and I love mixing it with synths just to get that organic/acoustic vibe in the middle of everything. The slapback and splash were really awesome! They really made nice build-ups to the beat. Now I know what to try next, heh.. Hope you'll continue doing these! Thanks!

    ha. love this. I have a boss br-600 that's a great sample taker. been plugging the samples into either Iris 1 or 2, and going from there. love creating the sounds and I know it's stuff no one has heard before.
