🇺🇸 but, is India your true love? Where's Wei Wei?
不是自己的房子千万别装修。装修的钱足够你自己搭建一套自己理想的房子
I like your channel. Your linguistic talent is amazing. Your unique angles are inspiring and entertaining. Your videos are beautiful. Wish you all the best!
I am not enjoying this episode. Bad turn. Will you rename the channel "Katherine and the chickens?"
Wait a minute it is normal for couples to house hunt together, what is the deal?
I suggest you rent a house in the countryside near Zhuhai, Nanshan bamboo sea. The scenery and climate over there are best
I left China when I was 5, and have only been back a few times, including a few years ago to mom's small town(by Chinese standards). Watching your video brought back a lot of memories. Thanks for showcasing your life.
This was great. Rural China living is fun. My family has been living in a village outside Lijiang, Yunnan for a few years now. We (including my two homeschooled kids) have learned to farm, to raise chickens, play hide and seek in the nearby forest, and have been having a great experience.
The most important think is that you look so happy to return back to China and also Congratulations for your new job. The Chinese countryside is so peaceful and there you will spend awesome days Thank you for sharing this fantastic video
If you move to Hangzhou, then Hangzhou has 三大老外, 阳离子,瑞丽,Popmatta ❤️❤️❤️😀
Kathy without any doubt, your shows are so popular around the world ; because you showed a lot of scenery of the country sides , on the contrary young generations of Chinese prefer to move to the cities . You really help us to change our mind to pay more attention to the country sides . Thanks !
没办法,跑到中国996,中国太卷了🤣
This is so right. I love to see the "natural" China. Katherine shows it to us so that we feel that we are THERE
@@wynn3077 Ya, she also showed the millions of Uyghurs imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay and Elon Musk throwing fireballs at their feet to make than dance for King Biden I! If you imagine the millions of Uyghurs imprisoned in China, can you show me on Google Map where they are? Surely, a prison camp which can accommodate that amount can be seen from satellite. They got half-wits like you believing in their fabrication. For some people, April 1st is everyday
@@wynn3077 blinded and stupid
@@jieding-gn8qg 996 is nothing. we have that busy work schedule in America also. trying to survive in NY or LA as a fresh college graduate, I don't think its any easier than trying to survive in Shanghai.
I’d TOTALLY live in rural China, especially close to those rich cities such as Hangzhou. Convenient (albeit no TOO much, which can be kinda boring sometimes) but reclusive and green spaces, as well as a place way more linked with traditions than the big cities. Perfect.
I absolutely love all
the bamboo groves surrounding the countryside. Hope you find the perfect home to raise your chickens and ducklings.
恭喜陽離子找到能適應目前生活的工作😀😀
Huge respect for stepping out of your comfort zone to truly explore asia culture!
My family and I just moved to Nanjing last month. I'm excited for our adventures in China! Looking forward to more of your videos! :)
Love your channel name hahahaha
Oh wow, congrats on the move.. to my hometown too
@@kats_journey_east haha! Thank you!!
@@AmelieZh Thank you! Nanjing has been a great city so far! We can't wait to explore!
Wow, Nanjing is my home town.
Alongside with Suzhou, Hangzhou is my favorite city in China. Capital of the richest dynasty in China’s history, the West Lake, Xixi Wetlands, the old buildings and the greenery of the surrounding area… Beautiful region.
guys, hangzhou is not a capital of the richest dynasty. I know you tell the dynasty is song.but
Hangzhou is the capital of the south of song.
Kat, I must say that I'm really impressed with your ability to master the Chinese language so well! 我真的必须要为你点赞!好样的!
太喜欢阳离子了!!每次看阳离子视频都有一种祥和平静的感觉
What you planned, is exactly what I would love to live and do even it's just for a year or more. That's real living!
Hats off to your drive to embrace rural China, the heart and soul of the nation beneath the concrete and neons. Very few, even among a significant portion of Chinese population today, care to walk this only route to truly understand China. You're in for a career that will lead to something big.
I love ❤️ this village. Praying for you always
Very pleasure to see you are back , Katherine. Also, I love your trips around China's country side. Regards from Brazil.
我就不一样了,Katherine,I love you!小王总只能排第二!
as a Chinese, I also like to see that videos
I taught and lived in Lin'an outside of Hangzhou a couple of years ago. It was beautiful. I might also move to Nanjing Xianlin soon too. Let me know how you liked it there.
Nanjing in general is nice but xianlin is super boring , I don’t recommend it tbh 🤣
Maybe ecological environment of Xianlin is more important to LN。
@@user-el9ix3lk6s Lin'an is very nice and close to many famous scenic spots of rivers, forests and mountains. The subway connection to Hangzhou is fantastic.
I've just moved to Beijing to start my PhD and I'm super happy the channel is continuing! Hope you enjoy whatever future the rural life has waiting for you haha
你在北京哪个大学
wow
Always enjoy your content, whether visiting family in the States, negotiating the chaos of India, or in your chosen home of China. You do seem to be happiest back in China! Having a new job and and continuing your CZcams channel is more than enough to handle without taking on house renovations as well. As much as we might like a version of Katherine's "This Old House" in China I think the work involved, along with the expense of repairs might be a bit too much. Look forward to learning more about your new job.
Those roads of countryside were designed many years ago where rural China not much cars . Pretty narrow roads can’t hold two car’s lanes
@@weizhang2834 是的,这些道路宽度通常只有3.5米,每当春节的时候不太方便,平时的话问题不大
I was born in the place where you were visiting. And I finished my High school just several kilometers away from the place in your video. After many years studied outside of Hangzhou. I finally returned and now working in an Institue near the place I was born. I have seen many of your videos. Hopefully, I wish I can be your friend, because I like your videos a lot and willing to make some contribution for your videos career.
Glad to see another bike tour, and I hope the plans work out!
You can do some "Shorts" whenever you have a minute. Whether it is riding down a country road, or just chatting with the chickens, or listening to the birds, we appreciate/enjoy any updates no matter how small.
Yes, the bike trip. Thank you!
I love the bamboo groves. I used to live in a village surrounded by a bamboo grove in China. I now live in NYC.
Great video on your back to China updates!! Glad to hear your journey will continue on this channel, yeah!!
As a Hangzhouer, i'm so impressed by this video. Looking forword of more videos about the rural life in Hangzhou. There's definitely a lot to experience!
hey she's back! 🥳
great to hear you start to work full time
Absolutely love this episode!
So wonderful you’re back! I missed your content. 💙💙💙
Feel nostalgic after watched your video. 农村生活是很多年轻人回忆的一部分。 你的视频就像一座桥, 承载了很多从农村走出去在大城市打拼的年轻人的回忆。 很怀恋the sounds about goats, chicken in you clip. Hopefully can explore the roads you biked to feel it in- person. Thanks a lot. Love it
Thanks for sharing your life update and the awesome work as always! Looking forward to learning about your new job
So glad to know that you got a full time job and can continue this channel. Love it. :)
Love your rural china content very much and good luck to your new job!
having a job is really important it keeps your mind active & healthy even though i retired early due to the trend here in america. i wanted to say good luck with your new endeavor & your new rural home...
i retired in my mid 50's when they offered me early-out. i used to travel 8 months out of the year up until i had to look after my mom, and then my dad in their latter years.
it's time to do the things you couldn't do when you were working. enjoy your retirement.
Good luck on your new job!
Happy to see your new update, hope you will enjoy your life in rural China.
Congratulation with the new job and exited for what is to come.
It’s good to see the lovely Katherine again.👏👏👏👍👍👍
This is very interesting to me. I am American Caucasian, my wife is mainland Chinese. With my sister in law living in Hanzhou, we also toured a little bit into the surrounding country side. Only 20 minutes into the mountains there are clusters of beautiful spic and span tea fam houses. They all have pretty much the same 4 quadant floor plan, the shop room ground floor left. I pipe dreamed of getting one of those for retirement, but my wife said it is impossible. Allocation is strictly controlled. On the other hand, in my wifes home town in the provinces, house is no problem, nobody wants a standalone house. Everyone wants new condo. Renovation no problem. There are myriads of small home finishing contractors. All condo towers sell the units unfinished. Finishing is a huge business.
Nice..😀 The fresh air and scenary look n feel like a good retirement place there😊
Hi Kate, great to have you back again. In fact run thru this video few rounds to truly digest the contents 🤣. Glad
your works involved traveling rural parts and the freedom to do vlog too. Happy house hunting. The last unit, as you said has d right vibes.💫. Looking forward for more insights of your new ventures n house hunting. Last, Merry Christmas 🌲and Happy New Year to all your dear ones.
With relative cheap labour and materials (you could even do it yourself), you shouldn't have much problems transforming one of those properties into a dream home.
Being a "foreigner" becomes a concrete reality in a rural setting. You can throw out the niceties and the cute animals. Living amongst vs. just passing through are two entirely different worlds. Katherine is even looking more like an adult these days. The adventure continues...
Please elaborate about "looking more like an adult." If looking like an adult involved being very serious, I prefer our Yang Yang to be humorous and fun. 😂😂😂
Thanks Katherine for being who you are. Yourself!
I admire your adventuresome spirit ❤ Thank you for sharing your life in China!😊👍👏🙏
I love the view from the second to the last house.
A bamboo forest outside your window is so cool🤩Shame it's too big to live in.
WOW !! Nice to stay in Hangzhou. Take care and best wishes to you always.
So professional. Can't wait to see if you got the house. Thanks for bringing the rural real china to us.
不管怎样,开心就好,祝一切都好。
good to see you again~
hangzhou...
my dream city, i plan to study there before the pandemic start and now im not sure if i got the time..
i live in beijing 7years ago but rural hangzhou a bit different with rural beijing
such a great experience to live in china to see things you think you know but you dont.
Thanks for sharing the vlog kath.

Congrats on your new job, I am sure all will work out well.
The best of luck, Katherine! Please do not worry the sporadic upload schedule of your videos. We your fans would understand perfectly. Your health, your personal happiness and the balance in your life are the priority. Happy Holidays and a prosperous 2023 to you and your family!
接到推广啦!恭喜!Love from Nanjing
Good luck. All the best to ya!
I totally enjoy the quietness of the countryside though, so precious. Away from countryside there is constant noise of vehicles, so hard to get away.
Since last year, I've been exploring some of Hangzhou's rural areas, and in Yuhang (余杭)and Linan(临安)I've discovered a lot of breathtaking places. Enjoy your life in Hangzhou!
Hi,Catherine. I looked your previous videos repeatedly to wait to your new episode
My favorite, Kats!; you are definitely an awesome story developer/teller
Lot's of interesting towns to explore in the vicinity of Hangzhou, also pretty flat area so easy cycling. Perfect location for your channel 😍😍
Lovely little house and I can imagine the experiences you’re going to enjoy ❤
Bike view is very beautiful 😍
Thank you very much for this beautiful video. Wish you and your loved ones the best.😊❤️
can't believe it you are living in Hangzhou! CZcams recommended your video to me years ago, it was a big surprise when I found we studied in the same university! And now we are in the same city! Rural areas in Hangzhou are definitely worth exploring.
Wishing your dream come true soon😊
Reminds me of a time long ago living in my Grandma's house in Zhongshan Shaxi. Except the house was probably built some time in the 1800's. Rural life has it's charms no doubt.
I wish I had your sense of positivity on the little things in life.
Joyful Christmas 🌲. May this season fill you with lots of funs and warm love💖.🙏
Where is your husband? It’s been a while since we saw him in your videos. He is a funny guy.
Welcome Back! Looking forward to watch a new video. Thank you for the fresh update & for sharing this with us. Greeting from: Seattle Washington!!!
Good to see u back and biking again in the countryside. Brrh, it looks terribly cold if u only have wood fire to keep the house warm.
Must say u r one tough gal from the US. All the best and hope u get the home of your choice.
I’ll probably cheat and get some space heaters, hahahahahahaha
I used to think that only Chinese people had a strong aspiration for an idyllic life because of cultural reasons, but now, I firmly believe that it’s a universal desire that is shared by all human beings.
Oh, oh ,... the geese are back (10:14). Welcome to a new life, Katherine 2.0; we'll be rooting for you!
Rural China is beautiful
I prefer rural life too, and that's why I moved to US. I was born in a small village in hubei, and then go big cities for college and work , and now lived in SF bay area and quite enjoy the rural life here. Have fun.
Just wanted to say hi. Good to see you back in China and with a new job.
The scenery and climate over there are best
Hope everything is fine n u r doing well enough. Love your journey 💝♥️💗
我去过杭州很多次,特别喜欢那里,祝你在杭州过得开心
To keep balance between work and life is really not that easy, hope you have a bright future and still looking forward to see your exploration Katherine, i hope it is not the end
It’s funny you said you felt nostalgic seeing roadside vendors in the Chinese countryside even you didn’t grow up in that environment. I feel nostalgic seeing you following your heart exploring the world even I thought my life goal was to find somewhere and settle down. You reminded me of someone I really miss.
Love the traditional country kitchen with the wood stove! A little more of a hassle, but so worth it when having guests over and cooking a meal for many!
China has a new type of environment-friendly stove, burning firewood. Higher energy utilization, more environmental protection, less soot. Stainless steel. About several thousand yuan
@@user-hz9cm9qy3n 只需要两三百,但柴火是个问题,不如直接打电话叫人送煤气罐
Your Chinese tone is amazing
You are so courageous to even think of living in a rural area, but it may be worth trying for a little bit, what a life experience!
很喜欢阳离子对于生活的态度,不是每个人都能坚持做自己。
是的
I'm glad you are continuing your rural explorations. I didn't even know that they were in danger of coming to an end. Lots of changes and new experiences for you now, and they'll be interesting, too.
I AN A NEW VIEWER and I happen to appreciate casual thing from far away place like China is so I enjoyed your bike ride. Thank you
Amazed at your language skills. I’ve lived in Cyprus and Germany and speak both languages.
Thanks!
thank you for supporting the channel ❤️❤️ sorry to respond so late I only just figured out how to find my super thanks comments😂
Kathrine and the Rural China bike tours are back, love it.
I see a new bike. I was already wondering with the "old" bike whether you have adjusted the seating position ergonomically. Since you ride your bike a lot, I would advise you as a former cyclist to adjust your seating position. So you could save a lot of power. My suggestion is the 4min video from adventuresportu: How to Set Your Bicycle Seat Height. Keep up the good work, thank you.
This isn’t my bike, it’s a public share bike, my bike is in storage in Chengdu 😭😭 I hope I can go get it next month. For me comfort is more important than efficiency/speed so I keep the handlebars higher than the seat , it also is because I am filming while riding so better to be sitting upright instead of hunched over the handlebars , but it does make me quite slow 🤣 I inch along and enjoy the scenery. Hahaha
What about adding a propeller or even a solar panel for sustainability and power? Save the pedalling. 😂😂😂
You always make good videos! ❤️❤️❤️
It is super interesting to see a foreign gal living in rural China. Great experience and nice people at the countryside. Hope all goes well for you. Cheers.
There is a will, there is a way. Best wishes from LA
Good luck 🍀! You are bright gal! And brave one too. I’m Chinese myself and found it difficult to leave my familiar surroundings for other new pastures.
