Additional info: the first 5 gymnasts to perform the Cheng were Cheng Fei, Kim Myong Bok, Hong Un Jong, Hong Su-jong and Jade Barbosa.
Jade rainha!!
The Maria Paseka clip at the end took years off my life
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love how that ONE Cheng she did still holds up as top tier.
It’s so incredible how humans are capable to do things like this
It shows that human body is capable of incredible stuff like gymnastics. Human body is the best machine.
I loved Vanessa Zamarripa's gymnastics. She was so talented.
It's criminal it's been downgraded so much
i absolutely love your soothing voice and editing. It's the little things like the short clips of Jade, Simone, and Mykayla putting their arms up before their routines. So small, but such a good detail. You deserve all the subscribers in the world.
Thank you for your kind feedback ❤️
2:21 that LOSO out of the tumbling skill is so beautiful and unique! 😍 was that a double full or triple full she did it out of?? I’m bad at judging twisting skills lol. Also her form is impeccable on this vault, this vault usually has so many form problems
Double I’m pretty sure
I wish they found a way to incentivize cool skills like that. So much hard, unique, innovative, and impressive stuff is not encouraged
Wow!!! Vanessa is amazing!!!! Her Cheng is one of the best!
She did it so beautifully!😍
I think her form from the springboard through to the first twist is as good as Simone and Rebeca's best Chengs, and leagues better than anyone else. She doesn't get quite as much power as they do, and the form falls a part a little at the end, but the beginning is a thing of true beauty.
How on earth did she only get a 9.1 E score on her first Cheng??? That’s ridiculous
Especially considering that scores weren't as strict at that time. I feel like she deserved higher even though she does have a bit of form break. Her block and height were AMAZING and she was so underrated 😭
Yes
Goes to show the amount of bias the judges have towards the bigger name gymnasts
Hoopdini If she would have vaulted a few more times she would have gotten the scores.
Hey Gymnastics Masterclass, would it be ok if you can make a video about inquiries and how gymnasts use them and a brief history on them as well as some gymnasts that went on to use them such as Aly Raisman in 2012 beam finals in London, Larisa Iordache in 2020 floor finals in Europeans, Kara Eaker in 2019 Worlds beam QF, Brooklyn Moors in 2019 Worlds floor QF, how much they cost, etc? I would love it if someone can make a video on them so I can understand them better🙏
Good idea. Do successful inquiries and unsuccessful ones
Thank you for shining a light on this wonderful gymnast!
Just a little PSA for all the Americans out there. As a Mandarin speaker, the correct way to say the word “Cheng” is like “Chung”with a “u” sound. It’s not “Chang” or “Chong” like many US commentators and gymnasts say.
Thank you! Is it more of "ch" the way it's spelled, or "sh" the way it's pronounced here? Or somewhere in the middle?
@@AnnekaMorgan it's Ch like 'change' not Ch like Cher.
I love your videos! Could you please post one showing some of the skills with the highest start values on each apparatus?
thanks for the info. Glad to know about this hidden gem!
That cheng by Simone at the start is the best of all time
im pretty sure the first american cheng (actually just first cheng overall) wasn't vane's, it was terin humphrey in 2002, at the parkettes invitational that same year
Awesome the Cheng on Vault.
I do not understand downgrade on these gymnastics moves. These young women have to do so much just to be elite. I'm very disappointed in the gymnastics officials. They need to do better for their athletes.
I think "devalue" is a more accurate word choice 🤷♂
@AlyFrederi Suni, Nina, and most Russian gymnasts were still out scoring 95% of VT’s in Tokyo. Simone and Chenchen could get high 14s and low 15s more than a perfect DTY.
Love Vanessa!
Ooh that was a fun history lesson!
Cheng Fei com o corpo todo correto. Ninguém faz melhor que a dona do salto.
One of the hardest vaults in women's gymnastics. Just being precise
Wasn’t bhardwaj the first US gymnast to compete the Cheng?
Todos eles juntos não conseguem ser melhor que o de Rebeca Andrade do Brasil 💙🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
🙏♥️
If your legs are spread wider than your hips, there should be a major deduction.
but every other vault was also downgraded? it’s not like they Only downgraded the cheng and left all the other vault SV’s the same. (right?)
also vault was way over scored in the previous code considering that there’s only really one skill to take deductions on. a good beam routine can get a 7.5E at a competition but a shotty DTY can score an 8.5.
didn’t terin humphrey do a cheng at an american classic meet in like the early 2000s or am i tripping-
Did she? I’m not aware 😨
czcams.com/video/ZgcSsg538JU/video.html in this video, it looks like she does a 1/2 on, 1/2 in piked position off. It’s hard to tell though.
Ashley Postell did as well, no?
Jogging the memory here, but I think Humphrey and Postell have done the “piked” Khorkina 2 vault at minor meets in the 2001-2004 quad. RO- 1/2 on- piked 1.5 twists off.
She definitely did
REBECA ANDRADE 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Who was the first American gymnast to perform an amanar?
Shawn Johnson
@@gymnasticsmasterclass ohh thank you 😅
Maria paseka🥴🤦 I just don't understand
A cheng is 100% the half turn to the table and how you take off from it. Watch carefully the way she does it
It’s pronounced Cheng, not Sheng.
Vanessa was invited to worlds camp in 2010 and she declined
She tore her achilies around autumn 2010 and had to red shirt her junior season.
Terin Humphrey did it first in 2002 actually. However nowhere near as good as Vanessa. Just like Shannon Miller was the first American to do the double twisting yurchenko 1 time at the 1993 us classics. lol
"The Sheng" ... 🙄
A Rebeca faz melhor o Cheng que o amanar, mesmo o cheng sendo mais dificil.
