The Psychology of Performance

- Intelligence and performance can be influenced by one simple thing: expectations. A psychological study by Robert Rosenthal shows that somebodies expectations influence performance on a significant level. People treated with positive expectation score 13IQ points higher than people treated with negative expectations.
In my experience artistic thinking is more than developing yourself on a technical level. Use a holistic perspective and get a brainy dose of how to approach self development. Raise your own performance by believe in yourself. How? By reframing your way of thinking by using the method of reverse thinking. A very simple method with huge potential. Will you share a perspective that uses reverse thinking?

Great video but you can do better
Omg, this is so meta
Yes, that's true, the only thing that happens is learning!!!! So simple, but we tend to load it with thinking. Let's try thinking in positive after our experience!
I lost an IB diploma due to a single point, but if I had gotten that point I likely wouldn't have known how much I would enjoy art. Failure lead me to find something that im passionate about and seek that as a career.
Wow, this video was so helpful
Thanks doc! Great video again.
Thanks mister te Riele!
Interesting how this channel almost seems like it has little to do with drawing. Or rather drawing is an allegory / an example narrative used to explain how to live your life and succeed regardless of what you do. Even the tips about practicing line work and ghosting are just that - tips about simplifying and practicing. or videos with analysis of styles of other artists is exactly the type of analysis of the work of others that you should be doing even if you are a programmer or a manager or an entrepreneur etc.
I love it, it’s awesome.
Thanks this is exactly what I'm trying to aim for!
Dr. Draw. I found you on Instagram. Thank you for your content and inspiring messages. You are on to something with these specific types of videos. Do more of them. There are hundreds of channels that teach people how to draw. Not knocking your drawing skills, they're great. Your psychology background is fascinating. This video is an example of how you incorporated both.
I dropped out of art college about 20 years ago. I felt like a failure. Using reverse thinking. Maybe I wasn't ready for college 20 years ago. I'm now 1 year away from graduating with degree in education.
I have some thoughts on why art school doesn't work. I think its the lack of pedagogy. Lack of fundamental drawing instruction for its students. In my experience. The institution actually push degrees and titles rather than actual skill based learning. The internet caught up and most artist figured out that you can learn most skills on the internet. There is still a lot of work. Your video on the psychology on failing is important. People don't realize how many hours, pieces of paper, pens, and failed drawings it takes. That's the crutch of technology. People like that information but don't put the work in to get better.
Your stuff is good. Your thoughts on psychology and art is better. Consider putting that stuff in patreon I would subscribe. It's valuable. I know videos take longer than instagram posts.
Ah man! How cool you're close to graduating. Nothing to be ashamed of. We all have our own path to take. And I totally agree on what you're saying. I am planning to eventually talk more about psychology but I still need to learn on how to make CZcams videos. And once my audience is a bit bigger I will take more about psychology, but in a way it's also digestible for more common people. You seem to have found the eagerness to grow. That isn't with a lot of people, so keep it up and always keep sharing your ideas with me :)
lol i really read that you dropped ou of Fart school. Great observations though, Dr Draw was an amazing found
Great video and thanks for sharing. In art school I had a drawing teacher tell my I should change careers and I wasn't going to make it as an artist. His comment crushed me and it didn't help that I was exhausted after staying up late trying to finish a final 3d project from another class. So I even went to my school academic counselor and told her I was thinking of changing degrees. I didn't tell her why, but she told me to finish the quarter and see how it goes. Anyways I went to my next class which was character design and I received a callout from that teacher for most improved that quarter. Needless to say that was an emotional day from low to high and I continued on with art and have made a living being able to support a family and see a bit of the world. I continually look for ways to push my self to do better and love to learn. As far as the drawing teacher, I don't know if I should be upset at his comments now or thank him?
I have a similar story. Thanking him isn’t really worth it. In the end it’s you who pushed through isn’t it. I’m not a big fan of people telling other people not to do something they love. But I think gratitude will serve you more happiness than resentment
First and foremost, great video once again! These psych art videos hit different and I need these rn. Also, big s/o to @proko I definitely learned a lot from him 💯
I’ve been binge watching your videos, especially the ones that deal with psychology.
I know they’re not as popular as the predominant drawing ones but they are still my faves.
Really enjoy your content immensely 😊
Oh wow, that's such a nice compliment! thanks you. I love making those more to be honest. There are plans to move more toward these kinds of videos. At least more a combination. But first more followers so it becomes profitable instead of this all costing money :) Thanks again!
Huh? A channel with Psychology with drawings advises? Hell yeah!
To progress is to change error
great video doc! that story makes me feel sad for all the kids whose potential gets squashed by grownups. but thankfully we write the internal script, even if this can be tricky at times ;)
Yeah that is sad! But the bright side is that we, like you said, can write an internal script. Great to hear you do this! What would you give as a tip to other people to try this themselves?
@@thedrDraw I think being more forgiving with ourselves as well as more playful (remove the serious importance we give things) can help fore sure :)
@@p5rsona sounds like great advice, self-compassion is very important! Thanks
What's up doc?
Hello, this is THE good looking teacher from the video. I only recognize myself in appearance ( it could be a bit more skinny…), because I do tell my students the right things based on expectations. And yes, they learn more from high expectations. More self confidence and the guts to try. Most of the time the expectations are not to high, but realistic. Let’s keep it that way dr. Draw
Hello good looking teacher from the video who could be a bit more skinny. Realistic expectations are very important, thanks you and kiss
@@thedrDraw thanks you? You can do better in English
@@geerke154 I should've never made this video, everybody is using it against me.
@@thedrDraw don’t act like a victim! Own the comments! 😛
@@geerke154 My own words are being used against me. Someone has turned to the dark side.
They told me that I can do better everytime I did smth and now I don't want to do anything because I wasn't good enough ever ☠️
I was thinking of disliking the video, but when you showed the reverse thinking method I decided to give it a try
It's not one my best videos but I do think it has value. Happy to read you're giving it a try
Where are you from?
