  • The eight mayors of the Campo have been briefed by the Spanish Foreign Minister on the ongoing Treaty negotiations.
Jose Manuel Albares says the needs of the almost 300,000 people of the Campo had spurred him during discussions.
He said a zone of shared prosperity would improve their lives, as would use of the airport, the removal of the frontier fence, and the free movement of people and goods.
After the meeting with the Campo mayors, the Spanish Foreign Minister briefed other stakeholders from the Campo, among them, the trade unions and the business community.
Although there is no end date to the negotiations, Mr Albares said discussions had "intensified" in recent weeks.

No comercial fights will be financially viable,we saw it with the córdoba agreement…..flights to Madrid were a flop!….no one should worry about joint use of the airport,it will never take off.It doesn’t make financial sense, other than to refuel cheaper fuel.

Mr Picardo is a smart man. He is telling the British since you dumped us when you voted to leave the EU. The British said they respect Gibraltar right to make their own decision. Well, now he is for Gibraltar to join Spain/EU under the Schengen area rules. Sorry Brits now you can be turn back if you don't meet. Sorry Mate.....

Controversial…… I personally don’t think we should get rid of the frontiers considering the problems we’ve seen around Europe. Keep the border frontier but allow relatively free movement but don’t sacrifice Gibraltar’s sovereignty or security. Imagine anyone crossing from La Linea, known as Spain’s Wild West/gang ridden part of the Spain!
