Mahindra has a goldmine, with brands like Jawa, Yezdi, BSA, Kinetic, with a very huge fan following. But it needs to up its game else the fans will run away.
Mahindra has done wonders with its SUVs, it can do the same with its 2-wheelers as well.

Indeed. Mahindra has some really good ideas for these brands but the execution needs improvement.

This is not a stats based review, it is an experience based one: I own a Yezdi scrambler. And I'm so happy. My priorities are the ability to weave through traffic as quickly and nimbly as my KTM, but with the looks of a classic or a modern retro which the Yezdi has with a teardrop tank. The bike just takes off man its such an amazing feeling when it does I would never have thought a modern classic would do that. And I love a bike that turns heads. mI also drove the himalayan scram 411 and its not for me. If your priorities are not the looks of a modern classic, and a quick take off whenever you want, but if your priorities are cruising, leisure rides then clearly you want the RE 411. Also remember Yezdi is being brought back after a really long time so for it to reach a sophisticated level of service centers etc will take time. That being said didnt have a problem with my first service here in Bombay except that the centre was so far. Thats a choice you have to make. Im happy supporting an underdog brand even if it struggles in the beginning. But I can understand if other people arent. Fun fact Royal Enfield and Yezdi rivalries exist from the 70's. But today these two have different offerings I feel. Choose your priorities and make your choice :)

Great comparison! I only test rode these bikes on the road (mostly smooth with the occasional rough patch) and found the Scram to be better overall. The Yezdi Scrambler does have more performance but the fueling is weird and after the midrange there is no punch. The Scrambler engine feels really rough and the suspension is horrible. The front end lacks feel despite being firm and the rear suspension does not provide any comfort over potholes. My 200 Duke does better on rough roads with high profile tyres and has similar suspension travel (F/R 150/150 mm) as the Scrambler (150/130).
The Scram's performance could be better but they got all the basics right. The torque curve is flat. It feels well put together which is not something I can say for its rival. Its suspension is far superior and the changes done to its internals make it fun to ride in the city.
Before anyone starts listing features, remember that in the end, you ride the motorcycle and NOT its spec sheet. It is the ride experience that matters.

I own a yezdi scrambler, i find this video almost relatable...they have shared the fact which cant be denied...one thing i would like to address, the weight of the bike....i am owned dominar and himalayan ...Dominar is undoubtedly the heaviest bike and next the himalayan...But scrambler is literally feels so light than himalayan and dominar....Trust me because am 5.4 and 60 kg in weight...i am using this bike just like riding a RX100...after long time i felt so bold enough take my bike anywhere....Still i have the himalayan with me but i would take yezdi for an adventure anyday ...Yes i would miss those plush suspension but this scrambler is more confident inspiring.

Thanks to Autocar/Rishaad for very clear and frank review......
we better not expect any quality from our companies as we are culturally mediocre and there is no motivation either as the market itself is quite mediocre gulping any junk before it is offered, by standing in queue for years....while the international brands observing this, made their products expensive while offering some inferior components which is not noticed by either (intentionally) reviewers or buyers (due to their remarkable, acquired ignorance)... :((( .... :)))

RE should reintroduce the Flying flea in the 125 cc segment...
Small light weight with amazing power to weight ratio!
It will blow apart the bike market
RE also need to increase their power in their bikes by a good 50% in all their models...
Shed weight(190kg with 19 hp is BS!)
Introduce liquid cooling and get in newer models in lower cc

The one & only thing that RE has done good is that the scram is surprisingly refined than the himalayan!(though the Himalayan is priced more than scram🤣)..else they had just modified a meteor cluster & placed it in scram, single seat, revised rr fender & front wheel size...there is actually nothing much RE has done here..from 2019 RE's r&d can do only this much??...120yrs of motorcycling & only this much!...so i cant agree that this is a NEW re product..whereas the Yezdis can be the so called true Scrambler here!....sure scram411 can outperform yezdi in low speeds coz its obviously a long stroke engine!..

Don't forget the reworked suspension. All these small changes have made a significant difference in the ride experience and because that, a lot of testing is required. I test rode both of these bikes as well as their adventure counterparts in the same day and my experience aligns with the findings by Autocar. However, I did not ride either off road but only on rough roads. The Scram is definitely the better bike here except for performance.

Probably custom houses could do a better job on the Himalayan and made a scrambler out of it. Apparently, RE team has done nothing since 2019, but changed some body parts here and there and painted it. I agree it was a knee jerk reaction. We just need to agree RE hasn't been able to make a new bike for so long now. They just give some makeover to their old products. Refined engine is not everything. Even yezdi will eventually have a refined engine. The yezdi scrambler calls at you like a scrambler, but sadly RE scram 411 doesn't.

scram is just a himalayan without a visor..whats new in it | there are bike customizer in the market who are way too creative to create something more interesting if one has a himalayan..

Yezdi looks like a true typical scrambler , re creates confusion with himalayan or scram
