Anyone that has the goal of a sweep in a 4 game series, no matter how bad the opposing team is, clearly just doesn't understand the occasional unpredictability of baseball sometimes. Even the 1899 Cleveland Spiders still won 20 games. Even the 2001 Mariners still lost 46 games. Goal should be 3/4 against the White Sox with the pitching matchups. This week is a huge opportunity to potentially take a double digit lead on the Rangers.
There's a difference between goals and expectations. If your goal isn't to win every game you probably aren't playing sports. I do agree that you should expect 3/4.
From a front office perspective, if your team has World Series aspirations, against a team as bad as the White Sox this year, you and your fans should be confident in a sweep and every team outside of the org should expect it as well. If you're not or they don't, you better make some moves to improve your roster.
From a fan perspective, if this is the team we hope it is (even in its current form, before moves are made to lock in contender status), they'll sweep these bums aside and take every advantage possible while the Rangers play the Dodgers. Don't particularly care how it happens. It's series' like these that define the season and force the front office to take you seriously.
That said, in reality, it's not a must-sweep by any means and there are other ways to have a successful series. You're certainly leaving meat on the bone if you don't broom them though, especially after the way game 1 ended.
@@charliecochran3035 If your goal in a 162 game season is to win every game you're just delusional at that point.
I was so disappointed when Cleveland didn't rename their team the Spiders. So much rich history!
@@dmears7782 Right. Guardians is fine, but Spiders would have been amazing. The City Connects are flat out fire though.
Bliss reminds me of Willie Mays Hayes
Whether Whitesox win or lose I believe their pitchers will have their best performance of the season against the Mariners.
because u have a christal boll?
Exactly, regarding KC, Colby. In Seattle the match-up probably favors Seattle.
Whenever I contemplate giving up a substantial package of prospects for Paredes, it only takes a quick look at his Baseball Savant page to discourage me from doing that. Sweet Spot, K, Whiff and BB are all 71-86th percentile. Also hitting value at 91. Chase is 48th. EVERYTHING else is 30th and below. He scares me too much.
As an A's fan, I'd definitely say Rooker makes more sense between the two as Parades feels like a hitter that might drop off and Rooker will at least him bombs even if he cools off. The only thing with Rooker is he will mostly play DH as you really don't want him in the corner outfield more than absolutely necessary. Given the Seattle concerns are pretty much purely hitting and maybe bullpen, seems like a good fit if the A's can be persuaded.
Michael Kopech and Austin Adams combined so far in June:
6 1/3 IP...12 hits...8 ER (10 Ks/9 BB)
Unless they turn things around, the M's should be able to find far better options to acquire.
agreed, if your dh is also backup catcher, you really are best off with one emergency catcher available...
I remember watching interviews in spring training and all the pitchers said positive stuff about Zavala, some of them unprompted.
Obviously you say stuff like that about everyone to the media but just play him lol
Bliss has to be a good enough athlete that he could learn on the job a bit in left field, right?
Am I trippin? I know savant pages arent everything but Isaac Parades expected statistics are putrid. His pages look the same every year. For the package you guys are suggesting, I would want no part.
@@riloperron the dude is 25 he’s definitely not past his prime😂

Colby Flagged Luke Raley, Logan Gilbert, Josh Rojas, Bryan Woo, and Dylan Moore.
Ty Flagged Bryce Miller, Jorge Polanco, Luis Urías, Mitch Garver, and Mitch Haniger.
Thank you CZcams highlights sports highlights
Man, if you look at bWAR, Haniger just isn't good -0.8. Canzone is at 0.5, which may be higher due to the beginning of the season. And WAA shows our RF and DH are pretty bad.
gavin sheets is a guy we should look at
Canzone is downtown heywood from major league 3
I just hope it's the M's that don't get swept. They have trouble with teams they "should" beat.
Honestly mariners are almost 10 games above 500 don’t touch prospects and don’t touch the pitching. Let some of these guys continue to develop and chemistry continue to build and we have a perennial dynasty on our hands.
"Part of the Ship, part of the Crew"
On cue Dom hits a big HR to start off the rally lol.
Sure
Robles could be very useful depending on what they add.
can't get live chat to work
Hi guy;s
What about a deal that brings them Rooker/miller /brown and also Parades /McGuire from Boston
Luis Robert would be nice but will come at a premium since he's a CF... I think randy would be reasonable or Jazz for the versatility.
Not to ROOKER WE HAVE TO MANNY STRIKE OUT S HERE WE DONT NEED A OTHER ONE
Parades baseball savant page is a whole lotta blue. Easy pass on him.
Aaaaannndddd we are losing 4-0. Bogus
Aaaaaand we won 8-4, phew
Rooker is what you hope Laz could be in your wildest dreams
No you hope he is Alvarez in your wildest dreams….Rooker is a possibility on the spectrum between bust and Alvarez
Zavala is trash, he’s screwing himself
