Crazy we're talking about trading for Jazz Chisholm when we could have just had Kelenic for cheaper.
I know that trade still hurts me
He hated being here though and a change of scenery was good for him. He'd likely be playing than worse he is in ATL with the stadium, bad coaching we have, and not wanting to play for this team. If you don't wanna be here bye bye. Proof? Unfollowing the Mariners while a Mariner and his overall vibe on the team.
Kelenic and Hernandez are both benefitting from insane lineups around them. They don’t put up these numbers without Acuna/Olson/Betts/Ohtani/Ozuna, etc. around them instead of Raleigh/Rodriguez/France.
@@calinator51 none of that makes it make sense to give him away to ATL in a salary dump and then potentially add back said salary AND trade away prospect capital to get a bat that is basically equal to what Kelenic has already done. WrC+ doesn't care about stadium, lineups, ect and his would better than any M's hitter with significant ab's currently.
@@davidfailing2372 Kelenic had a 108 WRC+ last year with the M's and is currently sporting a 113 this year. What possibly makes you think he wouldn't be doing that with us?
I hope that Jerry and Justin have something up their sleeves that is pleasantly unexpected, because I'm not sold on either Luis or Jazz, but with so many teams still in wildcard contention the options are limited.
I don’t want either guy. They aren’t good enough to solve our massive problems. They at least aren’t worth giving up prospects. This team is 8 bats short. The chasm is enormous. We need way too much help to giving up talented for guys like this.
You’re high dude, our bats aren’t the problem our mentality is. Everybody on our roster is hitting well below their career average and if we were hitting at average we would be a top hitting team. Any trades we make would only weaken our fielding and clubhouse culture, not too mention be a bad deal for us because our prospects are top notch and we shouldn’t give multiple for one year of a mediocre bat
Colby knows his stuff. His breakdown on Santos was right on the money. I will say that Santos has pitched better than his record indicates and that he still has a big upside.
Remember the White Sox were bad last year. With a contender he should be better.
Chisholm v Robert Jr is a no brainer. Robert Jr. at 26 is an impact player the next level below Soto, Judge, Ohtani, Henderson, Betts, Freeman, and a few others.
Robert Jr. will team up well with Rodriquez and take some of the pressure off Rodriquez. Two top 5 Mariner prospects and a 3rd promising lower level prospect.
By the way the league trading deadline is the end of July. The Mariners trade deadline is July 19. They must get an impact bat by the 19th.
Agreed. No Brainer. I also would like to add Hoerner and Peredes. Realistically none of those 3 will be added but I can hope!
@@calinator51 not parades his expected numbers and exit velocities are not good I think hoerner is a good pick up for sure
That’s a horrible trade. You want to cash in on superior M’s scouting and drafting? Pay us. 2 prospects are better than literally any one bat by definition and we almost certainly lose the trade in the long term
@@Mason-kx3ctWhy not bring back Ketel Marte? We need a long term second baseman that’s proven successful
We really need to stop practicing so hard we cause injuries. Injuries destroy careers so why risk it? Tone down the practice intensity by like 20% or add a dedicated masseuse
I can’t help but feel like there’s a lot of question marks with most of the hitters on the market this year whether they’re just having a down year like Arozerena or can’t stay healthy like Robert.
I want Robert and also 2 other players that I think would be good are Peredes and Hoerner.
What would acquiring Robert do to the likelihood of signing Gilbert and Kirby.
I have trouble seeing this organization adding Robert's contract to Julio's then extending anyone else.
There's a strong chance that by the All-Star break the Astros, every other current AL divisional leader, and current AL wildcard team will be in the top 10 in runs scored, while the Mariners are in the bottom 5. Obviously the goal is to win the divison, but the recent Red Sox and Twins surge has made even the Wildcard more challenging. Fascinating to see what they both do at the deadline, since they also both have ownership issues. Gotta think the AL Wildcard odds will be a factor for the Mariners at the deadline as well as the division in how aggressive they are.
More on Robert Jr. His stats so far this year project out for the full year to be 97 runs, 46 home runs, 88 RBI's. 6 for 6 stolen bases so far. One error this year in the field. Hitting 300 last 2 weeks.
Ahhh, how I've missed that ceiling light 🤪
people are being mighty stingy when doin nothin means we’re rolling with one of the worst offenses in the best opportunity to win the division in 20+ years. Get either or both.
From an offensive standpoint, Jazz feels like the same thing this team has tried for years. Grab a guy a HOPE his offense picks up but "hey...at least we didn't pay a lot for him." I want Robert. Robert has the upside to be a difference maker and a huge impact bat!
"Part of the Ship, part of the Crew."
Talk on Jazz and Robert is nice, but who gets moved off the roster?
I thought Muñoz made it as an Alternate?
Colby mustache looking extra crispy today
I'd make the trade for Robert that was suggested. Hurts but it's tolerable. I'd look for better value and lower cost for the secondary guy. There has to be aomeone who could be had for a back end top 10 prospect as rhe headliner.
Why do I think I will be totally shocked at who they add to their Offensive Roster - I don’t think they will pick up either Jazz of Luis - it’s going to be some off the wall player that was never discussed- I really, really hope that I am dead wrong
What's the cost of Rooker in relation to Jazz and Robert? I'd think he'd be close to Jass and less than Robert, and I'd prefer Rooker....
If Ford is as good as projected than don’t trade him. When his time comes Cal could move to first base if his batting average goes up and Ford to catcher.
Calling it now. We do not trade for a single trade target that has been mentioned this year.
ik it will end up being some random dude like Jonathan India or some average player who wont fix nothing
Don’t worry we can lead the league strikeouts next year too I believe 😹👌
"Should the Mariners Take the Chance on Luis Robert Jr. or Jazz Chisholm (or Both)?"
NOPE. I wrote this earlier in response to another site's article:
The Mariners Pythagorean win/loss, which is a truer measure of what a team is, is 46-46. In sports, the worst place to be is in the middle. That's because they're just good enough not to be good enough, and good enough to make dumb fans think they're close to being good. They're not. They're a lot farther away than the punditry realizes. Not only that, it wouldn't surprise me if they were in 3rd place in the AL West by the deadline.
The time for the team to be real "buyers" was the off season after 2022. They got Wong and Pollock. They got 2 games worse. The time for the team to be real "buyers" was after last season. They got Garver, Haniger, and Polanco. I told wing nuts who thought they improved the team that they got more than 6 games worse and got scoffed at. How does that look now? How does overpaying for an injury prone CF from a team who obviously doesn't see him as good enough to be part of their future improve the Mariners? How does overpaying for an injury prone league average bat from the Marlins who they obviously don't see as good enough to be part of their future improve the Mariners? They're not a Luis Robert Jr. and/or a Jazz Chisholm Jr. away from being a real contender. They don't even know if those guys can hit IN SEATTLE, and they keep finding out the hard way with these same kind of players that they can't hit there. The real herd of elephants in the room question that needs answered is why the hell that keeps happening? Because it sure as hell is NOT the ballpark's fault.
The time to be buyers and build the roster is in a more balanced off season market, not in a seller's market at the deadline. In a seller's market, smart people find a way to be sellers.
Buddy most everyone saw the 2024 roster as their best in years heading into the season. If you foresaw the inexplicable downfall of Polanco and Garver you should be working in someone’s scouting department. Prognosticators had this team pegged as about a 90 win team in March. When the entire lineup craters in unison, makes it tough.
@@peachfuzzkennedy3573 I wrote HERE in February that their moves made them >6 wins WORSE. Did you miss that part?
I didn't need to work in any scouting department to see it either.
Look at Jazz stats the last few months
Either one is the answer.
Second best with issues.
We've had enough of this bs.
Ahoy guys!! Hope Colby is staying cool in the heat this week. I think Jazz would be an amazing addition over Robert 😁💛💙
no most overatted player in the league with lots of clubhouse problems robert is him
NO TO JAZZ!!
I really don’t like Jazz. His attitude seems like garbage and I worry he’d be a locker room cancer. Luis Robert I haven’t seen as much so no real opinion. Injury-prone is my vague impression. I am excited to have Santos finally healthy! Great potential.
💯 He's not even very good and would be worse here. Plus him being a cancer is a NO. Robert in my opinion is very worth the risk even with some injury concern. He's a legit good player.
Let’s get Robert and jazz and clad jr baby
The bro was on the cover of mlb the show he’s got a great attitude im not sure where you’re basing that off of. Since you hardly know Luis Robert imma assume you have no idea what you’re talking about
@@Lein_Media there was an article in the Athletic about him. If you are basing your opinion about him based on his questionable selection to be on the cover of MLB The Show…well. Ok. He certainly didn’t earn that honor with his baseball stats.
@@Lein_Media according to the multiple articles about it Jazz wouldn’t follow team rules or practice with his teammates. He did an interview bragging about avoiding his teammates and doing his own thing. He complained about Miguel Rojas and his leadership. From the articles and interviews I got the impression Jazz thought he was better than everyone else, immature, and a generally poor teammate not willing to learn from veterans. 🤷🏻♀️
Rengifo goddammit!! Rengifo!
Arozarena, bell and India on my wish list. O cant believe polanco is in the line up tonight... DFA him already! France as well...and haniger.
This hole situation is dreadful...top to bottom. Does anyone have an answer other than hoping players turn it around...So disappinting. Our pitching staff is wishing they would get traded so they can face our line up.
Agree!! Hanniger is a liability. France is a a mediocre backup. No tools. Polanco has very little upside potential. (Garber has some)
Rengifo!!! Fits with the lineup batting #2, great team guy, Angels need pieces, etc, etc. A Cano- lite with some contract control. C’mon!! Rengifo!!!!
Rob I feel like is the better choice over jazz at least when he does play when not hurt he is really good jazz is overrated and gets hurt just as much
Put the guy with the largest contract on the trading block,, problem is no one will buy him.. so we are stuck with a 200 mil lemon
Big no on both. Big no
Rengifo!!!
