The James Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor, OH (near Cleveland) is superb. Garfield’s house is just as it was during his life. The Presidential Memorial Library that his wife added to the house was actually the first Presidential Library. Great tours there.

I read that book on Garfield, and I came out hating the doctor more than the guy who shot Garfield

I haven't watched this yet but I'm going to after work! Also gonna send this to my dad. He took me to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine years ago after we visited Antietam, and while I don't see him often because of the pandemic, we bond over sharing history stuff we watch/learn. I look forward to this!

Fascinating to see this after I just watched a documentary on the trial of Garfield’s assassin. Well done 👍

Sadly it does take a significant loss to change the way things are being done. I cant wait to visit your museum if I'm in the area.

As an austere environment medical provider and EMS guy, this is not too surprising for the time, but cringe worthy nonetheless. I've been in similar situations but there's things you can do to mitigate it.
