Thats why you dont connect your swivel directly to your anchor you put a bow shackle a few links of chain then the swivel.Or use a mantus if available in your country.😊
Exactly right.
With the older type swivels put a short piece of chain between the anker and the swivel .That way you get a straight pull as well.
Nice that’s a good option I wish I knew earlier 😜
You guys are an inspiration - never afraid to take on new projects! Thanks for sharing these boat werks with all of us!
Crap I never thought of the side loading on those swivels, might have to put a shackle between ours and the anchor so it works like your new one. Thanks for sharing that
And yet I seem to have sailed 200,000 miles, cruising since the 1980's with no swivel and exactly zero problems. Not one. I have cruised from the arctic circle yo the equator and in both hemispheres. I have anchored in fjiords, atolls, in mud, sand, gravel & anything else you can think of. NOT ONE PROBLEM. EVER.
He explains it if you listen. They also didn't run a swivel for an extended period of time. Episode 196 is relevant.
Busy, busy, busy, always busy. A thought I shared with another channel, before you splash, grab some solar powered landscaping lights to use about the boat. A sure way to always have a lighted path. Until next time ... get busy 😁-- Jerry
Yep. The stack is bigger by the day. Gives us a chuckle. So happy for you all.
Thanks to you we can receive it all🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 😘😘😘
Thanks for your help and comments mates...lets get back to why you're here
A pair of tommy-knockers! I concure. Great stress reliever on that not so comfortable morning inlet crossing.
Awesome channel, love watching you guys transform this big girl into a beautiful safe home, keep going, you are nearly there,
for now anyway 😂
And the projects/repairs continue…But step by step yer getting closer & closer👍 Continue to Stay Safe and Enjoy 😎
Nice Bling swivel, not sure it's any better than a Bow/Double jaw swivel setup, ~$15au vs ~$150au. Breathable chafe sleeve helps keep it quite in the roller.
Your welcome ❤
Nice to see you guys are making progress. Keep up the Good work!! You guys Rock!
Yes! That's the best swivel.❤
Swivel, soft spot repair, wire pulling 👍
When soldering, Flux or Flux core solder is the key to a good connection without weak cold solder joints.
Weakest link....the anchor chain pin and collar. Otherwise genius
Great Vid nice to see your getting closer and closer to getting the jobs completed before getting back in the wet stuff
My Dad always calls the proverbial "can of worms" dominoes. Thanks for sharing!
Such good advice and you worked on your swivel the same week (and the same kind) as Delos!
Hi
Patience doing electrical work has got to be hard.
Out of interest in which country do you pay taxes on your income, your homeland, or where the boat is registered, or elsewhere?
Am having issues where items on your list won't ship. will message you the error message
From 13.50 to 15.00 of the vid, close your eyes and concentrate very carefully...Use your imagination...🤣😂🤣...
🫣🤭oh my goodness 🤣😂🤣
Swivel me!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Hi, no kids in this video, so you did sell them good on you a bit of money in kitty. hehe
🤣😂 nah rather have less money and have them around 😜
I emailed you to chat I hope you got the email I sent.. take care
What is with the swivel fashion, it is just a fashion, and another weak point in the anchor system. Boats had no problem without them for hundreds of years, and I have spent most of my life coastal and ocean sailing, but have only seen these on youtube. Someone invented a great money making gimmick.
Exactly. If you have to use a swivel just use a mooring swivel . No need for ridiculously over priced gimics that can and do fail.
@@gwebster6600 Good idea, I have made up some moorings, and used those shackles, it is easy to see when they are worn.
