Lol? Do you think this is the moral? The real moral to this story is DONT STEAL! Especially if you are in NK.
They like tourists. You can go to NK and they will welcome you. You just have to respect them. That's it.
Is it a complicated rule? No. It's very simple. Otto was stealing. Tell me. Do you think stealing is a sign of respect?

Because NK has made it abundantly clear they are enemies of the United States.
When a brutal communist regime tells Americans we are their enemy it’s imperative we believe them.
They don’t want Americans partaking in “NK Party Tours”, they have not minced words.
He was a grown man but after his recent trip to Communist Cuba I wish his parents had refused to pay for his NK trip.
I don’t know why he believed it was his right to challenge all warnings as a voyeur to human suffering.
He presents as average to above average intelligence but something was very wrong as he repeatedly tempted fate in his travels to communist countries that make their disdain for Americans very clear.,

Americans especially young people need to understand and adhere to the laws, rules and regulations of other countries when you travel. We think the laws like those in North Korea that would lock someone up for such a foolish reason is crazy and immoral. Well, yes, that may be so, but we have to understand that things are very different outside of the states and we have to be really, really careful. Further, we can't expect the US government to be able to intervene on our behalf. It isn't always possible. There is really no reason in my opinion to go somewhere like North Korea. None.

Let me understand this, Otto goes to N. Korea, with intent to steal a government banner gets caught, receives 15 year sentence, gets botulism and is now in a coma. This 100% his fault. He need to take and face his action of personal responsibility and maybe none of this would have happened.

If you cant tell that his “confession” was completely scripted and staged you’re clueless. You cant identify shit in that video NK showed. They needed a bargaining chip. You cant even get onto the 5th floor where he allegedly stole that sign
