- The Shakespeare Express 22/10/23.
The train is usually routed down the North Warwick’s line via Henley in Arden but due to recent flooding at Wood End station the train went via Dorridge on the outward and return journeys.
The first shot sees 5043 Earl of Mount a Edgcumbe whistling through Dorridge and towards Bentley Heath Crossing. A friend on board recorded this run at 65mph.
After a break for dinner we headed out to Lapworth to get a second shot at high speed. The castle had a clear run all the way from Hatton North Jct and was seen whistling through Lapworth on the final return to Birmingham Snow Hill.
Filmed in 4k.

Incredible Luke I’m thinking this loco shall definitely do the honours of the polar express because clun castle has done her polar express and so has 45305 and Rood Ashton hall

Spot on Luke, two great shots there, cheers 👍
Cheers nige.
Great video. Was onboard the final run and touched 70mph according to someone onboard.
Thank you. I had somebody on the train for the first return to Birmingham record 68mph. I wondered what speed the last return would do
Great video :)
Thanks Simon
