    Great to see the Cobra back out for another good vid... Our 3 cobras here in Byron Bay have all had full aluminum/carbon upgrade kits, 15T pinions, custom paint and we are putting them thru the ringer :) Built a couple of ramps... break fix break fix... so much fun. Really enjoyed the driving adjustment required going from a light plastic car to a heavier metal car... power to weight has dropped... so a bigger motor and esc is probably next ;) Diff issues are a problem... any good vids on how to strengthen or improve them would be great! Keep up the good work bro! Thanks :)

      Yeah as iv mentioned numerous times😄they need a few upgrades and for even more strength a few diy mods before you can really beat on them, but once upgraded they are good cars!
      Sad to say🥺 iv not found any solution to the diff issues(major problem)
      In all honesty, I have no idea why mine are lasting because I actually removed the shims and now the outdrives are extremely sloppy but they somehow keep working great🤔
      I have the Blast pulled apart so I'll do a bit of experimenting, never know!

    I finally got around to modifying my cobra a little, I ran it kin a 3s stock standard speed was 43klm/h then I put an4s and only the steering would respond, swapped esc with a 120a surpass, put the 4s in works, top speed 65klm/h. Now I have a motor surpass 3674 2250kv or a 3670 2150 arriving this week. Will try the 2250 see what speed we get :)

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  Před 7 měsíci

      As long as 2250kv is more kv's and higher watts than the last motor that got 65kph with you should gain speed, if its lower kvs you'll need to swap the pinion to a much larger pinion for higher speed.

    • @NoroozKindle
      @NoroozKindle Před 7 měsíci

      The. 65kph was on the stock vex motor.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  Před 7 měsíci

      It depends which one you have, multiple different versions.
      One has a 3650 3300kv motor and another has a 2230kv motor.
      I would think you have the 2230kv one as 3300kv would get SO hot on 4s in this car.
      You will definitely need to gear up in any case I think, biggest pinion you can fit with a big 3670 motor👌

    • @NoroozKindle
      @NoroozKindle Před 7 měsíci +1

      I think it’s a : 3660 2000KV

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  Před 7 měsíci

      Ok so yes I would still go the largest pinion possible with the larger 3670 or 74 especially only being 2250kv, I have run the 3674 2250kv motor on 6s for speedruns without any problems so 4s will be fine.
      You could probably gear up the stock motor and get a bit higher top speed, I would 100% have no worries about running a 2000kv motor of any size on 6s

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  Před 3 lety +1

      Thicker oil will to a degree prevent gears stripping, but technically only because there not moving as fast or going through such abrupt changes in direction.

    Nice Vid! If I've understood well with some mods you have fixed several durability issues but in the end the issue of weak diffs can't be solved yet and this is one of the most common issue many brands/models have Said that what is the most durable budget rc car in your garage for bashing that can manage 3s whithout going in pieces every 20 minutes? Thanks for your valuable suggestion. ciao

      Thank you!
      I would say for track racing you would need to replace the centre diff with a alternative diff or possibly just swap the o-rings for thicker o-rings as it never seems to hold oil for long.
      Bashing is a different story, I wouldn't recommend bashing them and I'd suggest staying at 3s maximum, 4s eats the diffs in no time.
      Sad because they drive really nice.

    I think this cobra is lighter than jlb cheetah so you can increase the motor kv to 2500 or others below than 3000kv and hit 100kmh with 4s

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  Před 8 měsíci

      There are many different ways to setup RCs, I prefer low kv large can motors and high gearing, this did over 100kph on 4s on the road.
      But it's not just kv that you look at because if you tried to run a 3650 3000kv in a cobra on 4s no matter the gearing it WILL overheat.
      A 3674 3000kv motor yes sure it will easily run on 4s but then you WILL destroy diffs and driveshafts because they are so weak and a 3674 3000kv has so much more power than this car can deal with.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I got mine from a ebay Australia a few years ago, I don't recommend using them though unless you have upgraded everything else or have a unlimited supply of spare parts.
      Swingarms are the last thing you want to upgrade on a car like this simply because they are a good breaking point part as they are MUCH easier to replace than a diff housing or chassis which is easily done with these vrx and ftx cars ESPECIALLY with alloy arms.

      22t won't fit, 19t is the biggest that will fit.
      I run 2250kv with a 19t pinion on 4s and it gets hot so I'm sure you'll fry a 3800kv on 22t😵
      3800kv with a 11t or 12t sounds a bit safer.

      Possibly the 2150kv motor, this car has been gone for a long time.
      But what I'm getting at is if you want to run 4s you want to stick with quite low gearing with a 3800kv or get a lower kv motor.
      For off-road 1/10 cars my personal limit with 4s is a LARGE size 3000kv motor MAXIMUM!

      @motabikeboy honestly mate you are definitely better off getting a well known brand, the VRX is cheap because it's not really a 1/8 as they call it and you seriously do get what you pay for in this case, not positive sadly.
      Don't worry, I've spent a good $1k Australian trying to get my 2 to last more than one run and they still blow a diff or snap a axle every drive, that was all on 3s and 4s so I would say it's a 2s car to stay safe.

      Mah is the capacity, it dose not give you a higher top end speed but will help battery lag/sag and give you longer run time.
      You need higher voltage to go faster, BUT, you have to make sure the ESC and motors is capable of doing so.
      If your currently using a 2s you will have to jump up to 3s, using 3s jump to 4s and so on.
      If the ESC is 3s capable but the motor gets super hot you will then need to change the gearing, easiest way is use a smaller pinion/motor gear.

      nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005001844112187.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2nld
      And I highly recommend a Hobbywing esc or another quality brand esc, most of these budget escs like Goolrc and Surpass have delay or glitch issues so you'll have a much better experience with a good responsive esc👌

      Thankyou, do you have a msg board or Facebook page for general advise? I didn’t want to post question for other cars here.

      Your welcome.
      No sorry I don't have a Group page on Facebook anymore just my normal RC Crazy page.
      You are more than welcome to ask about other cars on any of my video, if I can help I will, if not I apologise in advance🙂

      O thank you, i have a Jjrc q146 brushes, the wltoys metal bits fit on it so i converted it, i took a brushless from one of my banged up Jjrc q117 and used the wltoys 144001 centre shaft and spur gear put in works all ok just sounds a little rough and twitchy and suggestions?

      If you are using the jjrc pinion with the wltoys spur then that's the noice and most likely already damage!
      You can not use them together as the jjrc gears are mod0.6 and most wltoys spurs and pinion gears are mod0.7, completely different size teeth and DO NOT mesh up together!
      The teeth must be the same size on both gears otherwise they with 100% be damaged.

    What's your experience with the diffs on that thing mate.?
    I've blown a couple in mine.. I'm running 3S, using pretty much the same motor, a H/W 120A, SC8 esc & mainly running on tarmac.
    Apart from that though I'm happy enough with it.

      I'm not a fan of the vrx diffs, iv blown many😕
      They are quite weak and the oil doesn't like staying in the diffs.
      I think I've just been extremely lucky with the current diffs I'm using because they just keep going.

      No axle to axle, wheel to wheel.
      It's basically a normal 1/10 size car.
