here is not a song but a chant! i want to let you know that hawaiian chants like this i'm limited! i don't have alot of them! Name: Kawika Artist: Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu Album: Po'okela Chants
I believe Mark did this chant on a PBS special on hula. Im Hapa Haole raised mainland anf watching that reslly stirred something up inside me. I find myself alwsys trying to incorporate these kinds of rhythms into my songwriting. There is a light that never goes out. It shines bright among the Hawaiian People. A little brighter in Mark
Thank you for posting the lyrics🙏As i struggle express myself verbally etc.i've realized I need to work with my voice/throat chakra is chanting...and today during meditation came a thought to me to listen to/do hawaian chant..loved it 🌞
Learned it this way from Auntie Maiki Aiu Lake back around late 1950's early 1960's at her studio there on Keeaumoku. In those days we called her "Mrs. Aiu" We had to memorize all the words to the chants and take written tests. I think I was about twelve at the time (I'll be 64 this year). I've been looking for this version of the chant for quite awhile, because this is the way I remember learning it!
I am a big fan of Ancient drums, from the north to the south and from east to the west of the world. Drums means heartbeat and the heartbeat is the basic of al life, the pimal sound, the sound of Mother Nature!

Chants is how we the Maoli people kept the stories, legends, kumulipo and Mo'okuauhau alive for generations. The written language to me is a primitive thing and us Hawaiians, are still the best farmer on land and in the ocean. Our Na Tupuna was natural architects and engineers and no non Maoli had ever gave us props for being the most civil people on the face of this earth. We was the first non european nation in the world and you bet your bottom dollar that I'm proud of that. We knew who God - Io before the christian poisoned us with their propaganda because look now, they don't practice what they preach and you blame us for being mad??? We are the people of Aloha and too much Aloha was given with our guards down, finding out later, our people are on the verge to extinction.....smh Live and learn, Io have a plan for our people and karma is a bitch when the people who continue to do wrong, refuse to right the wrong.
What style or genre of Hawaiian music is this? I absolutely love songs like this. I would really like to know so I can learn it and eventually produce some.
polulanif correct this song is about king david kalakawa about what he did for his people, king david kalakawa traveled thru England,Europe, and france to ask for finantial aid to save his people in Hawaii
ONE Prophecy was given by the ancients, Hawaii will one day, be the teachers to the world with the spirit of Alo Ha....
