Dam, that guy took a direct hit to the foot and he kept on swinging. Absolute Badass.

Great video. One thing I suppose for many watching timber sport competition is they don't see the chain mail that competitors are wearing. Out of sight, out of mind. I think if it was more visible more folks would use it.

Another great axe safety demonstration video Ben! Thank you for continually reminding people that an axe is a dangerous tool and showing how little protection normal footwear offers.

Mr. Ben you do some of the greatest axe safety videos. Very graphic to the axeman, I felt the bite several times in this episode. Well done sir...

Great PSA, Ben. After seeing a few bad injuries, I don’t think I’d chop much without them anymore. One thing you Euros don’t consider, that Americans think about is that a trip to the hospital for us means $1ks of dollars, even with private insurance.

Even without paying for heathcare not being able to walk for properly 6 months could cost you your job and tens of thousands in lost wages

I don't know if you saw my post on the cordwood challenge FB page, but I hit my shin this past weekend. Definitely wished I had chainmail! I'm OK after getting stitched up but it wasn't fun and I was pretty lucky; it could have been a lot worse. What went wrong were things that you have covered before and that I was aware of (not as aware as I am now, though!). I was doing cordwood cutting in a dense stand so I had a smaller tree that was hung up and I was bringing down in sections and that meant that I was chopping high (bad) and didn't have room to position myself properly (worse). Basically, an accident waiting to happen but I wasn't thinking. I was aware that the situation wasn't great so I wasn't doing full power swings, which probably made the injury less bad than it could have been but it could have been avoided altogether with better decision making.

      I hope everyone sees this.
I wish I saw this when I first started chopping.
I glanced off a knot and sliced the side of my foot open.
I needed 16 stitches and couldn't walk without pain for almost 3 months.
I was very lucky that nothing serious happened.
I definitely learned a valuable lesson that day.
So I appreciate the work you do to help people be safe!
