  • Ratchet Track Saw Guide Rail Clamps for the Festool, Protool, Metabo, Makita and Hitachi guide rails.
    I"m tired of being ripped off, if a product is of equal quality I'll buy that if its cheaper, the buy local is ridiculous and unaffordable.

    I’ve been using these clamps solidly now for 5 days using loads of jigs and there’s no question about it they’re better than my festool clamps!!!

    Sold! I've stopped using my tracksaw after the last time when it drifted then jumped up and cut the track and the workpiece badly. Glad I've still got my hands! Then I looked for clamps and thought balls to that! These are more my price range! :)

      Its like a right of passage mate that accident, we've all been there, I always wonder why peeps say about their hands though the first port of call that saw is gonna hit is your waist or leg. If the saw wants to ride up from a normal pass (not a plunge cut) then the board isnt nice and flat/square and the blade binds, or a badly set up saw - cuts like that I have two hands on the saw, locked arms stanced like a road block, especially my big track saw! I'd check all of that mate if I were you, the track and saw and what youre cutting, like the blade cutting paralel to the track etc. I only use the clamps with my tracks if I need to be 100 % sure of the cut, I just shoot for rough rip with a track saw and then final cut on the table saw. If I can help mate, please do hit me up like a vid call and hopefully get your track saw running true if you'd like.. Somethings not right there mate.

      @@HewAndAwe That's very kind of you. I'm sure there was an aspect of use error and being impatient about it. Also the tracksaw is an Aldi/Lidl one and the track just won't stay still because the grip on the underside is bullshit. I think with the clamps it'll do a lot better. But I will certainly consult you if I have any more issues. Thanks.

    They’re £27.47 with a coupon at the moment. I couldn’t justify the Festool price when I bought a couple for my tracksaw, so went for the Makitas. I hate them . For clamping onto my solid bench I have a couple of handmade holdfasts. Just the act of hammering them into place is satisfying. Might buy a couple of these though.

      For the Velko? If so thats mental, for two LMFAO The only reason I don't have a whole drawer of these types of clamps is the cost of them, I wasn't gonna pay to buy what seemed to be lesser made types, was only that I was sent them for free I was like Ive nothing to lose. Ive been using them now for near two months, the biggest thing for me is they clamp on with in a few clicks, the Festool you gotta click them to full. All of this has really made me sit back and look at what I'm buying now, feels like the west are ripping us off to me.

    LOVE the brutally honest review of these clamps! I'm normally very skeptical about Chinese made "precision" tools but these seem legit and 1/2 the price of the Festool ones. Sold. Also, your videos are, in your parlance, "the dogs bollocks"! Subscribed.

      You and me both!!! I was SO anti China anything before! So many said to me you should try them and given how money is way to tight to mention now I thought Ive nothing to loose they're free anyway and 95% I'm well surprised, but these clamps though sorry but fuck me theyre so much better than the festool versions, I did a cut on the mitre saw that most peeps would say thats fucking stupid, but just one of them held the work piece in place! The force of them is mental! I'm like a dog with two dicks over the clamps, I mean 2 of them for the sameish money and way more clamping power 😂 Happy days!

      Blew my mind mate, I think when I bought the Festool ones they were more than they are now, I only bought two the Festool ones, the other two Festool gave to me cause some other of their clamps failed so I have 4, but trying these and knowing they can be bought for similar price as the lesser screw versions blows my mind, when I can I'll deffo be getting 16 of them!

    Alright aren't they? They sent me some too. I bought a couple more n'all. Got similar from bessey, axminster and hilti. They work fine alongside those. A decent way to save a few quid and not compromise.

      I was quite blown away, I mean they're actually better than the Festool and I can get two for less than the cost of one Festool clamp wtf? Only down side is the cheaper version are 0.25mm bigger width wise, now that may only be Ive had my festool clamps for many years and they've lost 0.12mm width who knows, oh and then the other day I took a large risk, the above clamps held, doing a cut I wouldn't advise on a mitre saw for sure!

    Not really surprising that they can be this much cheaper. Far less R&D for them, plus they cut out at least two middle men to get the clamp in your hand. They also don't have to have a local dealer there to keep telling you he thought of another good reason why he is out of stock.

    Bought four of these from Bangood last year, Ben, with the aim of my metalworking pal hacking them up and welding them to some 20mm dogs. Gave him the clamps, dogs and instructions - haven't seen the fakker since :) Will be doing a multi clamp review soon - might be something in there you like.
    Never thought the Bangood jobbies would outperform the Festool ones in the strength department. Nice one mate!

    Eye opening, for sure, Ben. Good review. I know Festool makes quality stuff, but some of their product line is just regular shit with green plastic. Some things you just cannot engineer better. I'd say their domino system is slick, but otherwise I'm not sure they've brought anything extra in other tools. They're kind of like any Apple product, IMO.

    • @HewAndAwe
      @HewAndAwe  Před 2 lety +1

      Thats a whole can of worms.. I wouldn't say that Festool rebrand much of their tools, the clamps are a defo cirt, I believe also their saw blades and some of the sanding disks, consumables but their routers, sanders their nuts and bolts tools all of them track saw, circ saw, mitre, table, routers sanders, edge bander domino these kinda tools aren't rebranded tools and their dust collection is by far better than anything below their punching weight - outside of that Mafell are the next step then nothing better. I would say you're kinda right they haven't engineered anything years above anything else but they have refined the tools to be that next step to getting perfect results, all those little niggles Ive had with Dewalt, Makita and Bosch just aren't there with Festool, Ive yet to try Mafell though to comment, I'm in no rush to either cause when I tried Festool products I was like fuck I need more if this is as good as this, like what's the routers like? ...and then a rabbit hole of money open up, as a perfectionist I want that from the tools I use, if I find that Mafell are even better, well I can't afford that..

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch Před 2 lety

      @@HewAndAwe it is a whole can of worms, that's for sure. Festools a pretty interesting company. They started out literally modding other brands tools. Improving them. Making the first portable saws and plunge/rail saws under their own name eventually. Some of their stuff is rebranded. The vacs are by Kranzle - a German industrial vac producer. Their belt sanders are still based on the original Holz-her design. Festool bought out Holz-her. They've produced some stuff in partnership too. Like they used to make the lo50 for Mafell (basically festool of900) and mafell made their OF2000 for them in return. Their big router still has the DNA of the Mafell lo65 router. Elu defo had an impact on their routers too - built in extraction etc. The Domino and Rotex were genuine festool moments of genius though. As is their general system approach to kit. I'm surprised others haven't followed that path tbh

    Difference in price is because you are comparing a demand economy (the "west") and a command economy (China). In the west you are required to make a profit, it is somewhat different in China. Offshoring of nearly all of UK manufacturing is due to everyone wanting things more cheaply than they can be made here. However, once all manufacturing in the "west" has been offshored you might find that prices suddenly start increasing. One way to find out is to get rid of all manufacturing in the UK - that will include people making things out of wood...

    • @HewAndAwe
      @HewAndAwe  Před 2 měsíci

      I was more trying to point out what we’re buying as say “American made” is mostly made in china and marketed as said and at a grossly inflated in price. Was more a read between the lines than being direct about it.

      @RG-Factotum Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@HewAndAweThanks for taking the time to reply. I wholeheartedly agree with your analysis regarding the "badging" of tools (and everything else). My main gripe in the UK is the use of the Union Flag making it look like it is made here, but the small print says, "Designed in the UK". We are at the mercy of people in the money markets that have no allegiance to anything other than their own enrichment. So, if, for example, all steel making is lost in the UK, that's tough, as long those individuals are making themselves even richer...The fact that we won't even be able to defend ourselves is not their concern.

    • @HewAndAwe
      @HewAndAwe  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @RG-Factotum yeah that’s bang on it’s all relative to my vid in the sense we’re being fucked over, the Americans are the worst, one tool company I won’t mention names says made in America flag all over the place like you said, I read the fine print and found they get their bits for china, knowing what they charge pisses me off, and then you get people saying I only buy American, they’re deluded. I use the US as an example cause it’s way more prevalent there than here, I don’t get many UK peeps saying I only buy British from their china made iPhone. I don’t like getting ripped off and I’m not dumb, I’m just about to film a review on a mitre gauge fence, which costs 1/3 of the known brands and is the better option, it’s mental! It’s a situation we can only do what we can, with what money we have and that’s very little, made worse with fake inflation and corrupt US & UK governments! The china tools you are right have already gone up, did about 6 months ago but still nothing like what we’d be asked for here buying the same thing. What ever way I look at the little people are fucked! 😤 there’s been a big transfer of wealth from the middle class over the last 3 years, now that’s done there’s no need for 90% of the population. 😔
