Chicago is brilliant and Terry Kath, one of the GOAT guitar players...
This is the Chicago stuff that I like. When they were a jam band (before they switched their sound and concentrated on power ballads). Legend has it that when they opened for Jimi Hendrix in 1968, Jimi walked up to them and said, "I'm good, but your guitar player is better than me!" I love the stuff they played on their first four albums, especially when Terry Kath played guitar. They are from Chicago. "Beginnings" and "Color My World" and "25 or 6 to 4" are great songs, too!
You mean when in 1976 they got rid of the horn section and switched over to wuss rock. Their love ballads were ok if you were a love sick teenager but I missed the horn section and the tough urban band they started out as. I was shocked to find out their lead/best singer/guitarist was white. Passed for a brother.
That's Truth! Jimi thought Terry played backwards, Jimi's face guitarist was KATH!
One of the few times where a cover is better than the original. Great reaction!!
Their Live at Tanglewood concert vid is awesome. Highly recommended!
I'm not a huge fan of Chicago, but this song SMOKES and it had you LIT. Great reaction!
From this same debut album, they REALLY break out the funk, R&B and blues on "Poem 58". Terry Kath's epic 4 minute guitar opening underpinned by Peter Cetera's bass and Danny Seraphine on drums will leave you gasping for air before, well, I'll not spoil it for you. Trust me on this as a long time fan of the original lineup of Chicago with Terry Kath before his death in 1978, Poem 58 will blow you away!
I saw my first concert in 1972, $5, festival seating! Chicago was the band. 3 different lead singer, first voice belonged to the guy going ham on guitar. The triangle and other rhythm percussive parts were played by the brass section..and the busy bee of a drummer had the smallest set of drums for a band that big. For my first concert, it was a good one! By the by, whoever gets to dance with you is a lucky person (not me, I am old enough to remember Chuck Berry and Elvis when they were sort of new!)!
Whoa girl ! Love your reaction to this, Chicago, first heard them 1969 in Jr High started guitar lessons immediately. Hendrix really dug Terry Kath and they were going to do some recording together, unfortunately Jimi passed shortly before . Thanks alot ,too cool.
This is a cover of the Spencer Davis Group from 1967 Steve Winwood wrote this.
Chicago covered it, gift wrapped it and sent it back COD
Quite ballsy to cover such a song on a debut album. I think they may only be 2 years apart.
The REAL Chicago ... thanks for this groove .
Albums 1-7 are in this context - visceral , improvisational - raw blues/funk/jazz at the highest level .
Terry Kath (guitarist) fueled this ship .
Terry Kath’s guitar was out of this World. He was the lead singer in this song. The percussion, drumms and bass are amazing.
This drum solo is incredible fantastic
Dope reaction JT!
Love your air drums, and your energy, your beautiful ❤️
You have brought tears to my eyes, thank you!
More "Chicago" suggestions: "25 or 6 to 4", "Beginnings", and "Color My World".
"Make Me Smile" is another great by Chicago
This is the studio version; watch it live if you want the full experience; Tanglewood would be a good start.
Good good early stuff! Love it! Rock n roll!
I would like to see your reaction to Chicago - Dialogue Part 1 And 2. This song is just as relevant today as it was back then.
Yes Dialogue 1 and 2 is a gem!!! The lyrics are powerful AF.
One Hellova reaction!!! You Rocked it!
Grew up listening to Chicago 60s & 70s still jammin to the Oldies
San Antonio , Texas
Loved your reaction! Never seen anyone get so wired and grooving to a drum solo!
Keep going with this classic. Question 67 and 68 is another gem. Another great drumming song is Procol Harum's Simple Sister (studio version). Please add it to your to-do list!
This song was on their 1st album, called Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The only cover song they did. they wrote the music and lyrics to all their music. Here after they were known simply as "Chicago" where they were all raised and schooled. This album contains some of their greatest music: You like horns - the song "questions 67 & 68" has heavy horn emphasis. All their music incorporates horns into the melodies. The first song, "Introduction" will give you a taste of what their music is about, and most of the album were top 40 releases. Their 2nd album contains a few more top 40 hits, like:" Make me Smile - slides into "Color my World"; and "25 or 6 to 4" (arguably the greatest guitar solo). This group had the most top 40 hits during the 70'sand have sold over 100million albums. They have several grammy and music awards, and were the 1st rock group invited to perform a concert at the New York Metropolitan (live album #4). An amazing and under-rated band, under-rated musicians, songwriter (Robert Lamm) and vocalists-Robert Lamm, Terry Kath (RIP) and Peter Cetera. Later 70's saw much of their work turn to mostly ballads but featured great tenor vocals from the bass player - Peter Cetera.
Great album and great reaction. Lots of great cuts on this one. Give “Question 67 & 68” a listen.
This is an awesome cover of an awesome song by the Spencer Davis Group featuring Steve Winwood. Worth the listen.
Good music, I shake my head in Ryhtmus. Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany
You have to see the live concert version of I'm a man Chicago
Great vocals and instrumentals amazing group
Your expressions are way out there. Very enjoyable to watch your reactions to this great song.😊
Really cool reaction ! Thanks !!
Chicago are one those bands that never disappointed you.
Only time you could hear this back in 1968 was to my the album. Not many FM radio back then.
You gotta play "I've Been Searching So Long" to really mellow you out. By Chicago or the cover by Leonid and Friends. You just gotta.
Tear it up Girl! =:-D
Chicago Transit Authority "Introduction" First song , first album. Same album as "I"m a man is on. It sets the stage for what is to follow. Give it a listen. you won't be disappointed.
Chicago had so much soul!
I found this channel by looking up the song and i have 2 requests ... IN THE BOTTLE by Gil Scott Heron/Brian Jackson (Live version) and SOUL SACRIFICE by SANTANA (Live @ Woodstock). Whenever i listen to Soul Sacrifice .... i listen to the Bottle RIGHT AFTER 🤣🤣🤣 , and on what else to check out by CHICAGO is STREET PLAYER which is HUGE in the Nightclubs were I'm from , Newark NJ.
"Make Me Smile" will make you smile
A parte onde tem o solo poderoso de bateria poderia ser mais extendida ou quem sabe ser feita uma montagem é simplesmente demais esse solo de bateria em I'm a Man do Chicago
Hi JT, How's our Miami Girl doing? From the looks of it, it looks like you're having a lot of fun with this reaction!!! "I'm A Man" by Chicago is absolute "FIRE!!!" The nasty bass line, amazing guitar riffs, thumping beat & outstanding percussion makes this a funky groove!!! Please react to the song: "Call On Me" by Chicago, it's also a "VIBE" I believe you will enjoy too!!!
Check out their LIVE performance
25 or 6 to 4
Hot damn, girl ! Get down with your bad self.
If you like that bass, try Poem 58. Mind blown.
I listen to these kids and ask myself what I was dong when I was 21 like these kids...
Love Chicago, yes they changed and adapted through out the years but that's what bands do when there around for decades. Anyway, I was hoping to turn you on to a couple of amazing rock/blues bands that are 1 both touring presently and 2 are large diverse soulful groups that I got played on 1 other channel of a young man with some soul , as I believe you do as well. So if you want 1st Tedeschi Trucks band (MIDNIGHT IN HARLEM LIVE FROM ATLANTA ) 2ND Joe Bonamassa, (I'LL PLAY THE BLUES FOR YOU ) live at the Greek Theater. God bless.
PEACE HIPPIE JOE
Awesome react :) Please try to react to some early Doobie Brothers, Beatles and Sly and the Family Stone
Check out 25 or 6 to 4 from the same album

Trombones?!??!???
Wish I could rock with you!
You must have been a drill team at some point....
Stay away from 80s Chicago. Love songs.
I noticed you should put a battery in your smoke detector and hang it back up. It might save your life.
GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!! 1967!!! WTF!? You is really late to the game!!!
Chicago have better songs like love me tomorrow,is hard to say I'm sorry, stay the night,if you leave me now,we can last forever
