    i was trying to find a way to cut the turf around the curved retaining wall. After i search 100+ of the youtube video, only this video has explained it. Most of the video only shows how to cut the turf at an open ended lawn. The turf I ordered is 15' x 25', and my backyard has a deck and a very long curved retaining wall. After I watched this video, I have it cut down to the size and have all edges fitted in one day. This video is very helpful.

    • @BellaTurfDIY
      @BellaTurfDIY  Před 8 lety +8

      Thanks Brad. His statements hold zero weight. Many installers like him take the easy way and cut seams to a pre-cut shape. This short cut will save you from needing any precision with your cuts, save you time, and save some face weight from your turf since you usually cut off many of the front fibers with this method. If you install turf with patience and precision, straight seams are the professional way to go. There are no shortcuts. There are poor seams and there are incredible seams, it's all in how much heart you put into it. To the installers that use templates to cut their seams ... Stop wasting all that turf! Every one of those half round scraps is a waste.

    That is not sand, that is PureZEO, used to neutralize pet odors that leach through the turf. If the aggregate is clean and packed smooth there is no need for additional material before laying your grass. You can however use rock dust or crusher fines but I would strongly advise against sand. Although slightly dated, this video demonstrates the install techniques still used today.

    Very good thank you. Quick question what is the exact product of the white silica sand. I have a tennis court where I would like to replace the existing infill with new infill. Wanted to know where I can buy the sand. I have tiger turf installed and the guy who built it about 10 yrs ago is a jerk. Who won't return my calls of provide any help. Stay away from Rhino Courts or John Shaffer. He installed built my tennis court, started cutting corners took endless time to build and has no courtesy to return my calls or emails. Due to desert storms there is some clay/dirt on the top layer which has caked on and I would like to remove the infill and put new infill. Turf is as good as new.

    what do you guy think about tree roots,? Can they come through a lawn like this or will they just bulge under the turf ..?

    • @BUNJI82
      @BUNJI82 Před 4 lety +4

      As a professional Arboriculturalist I can answer this by saying that if the tree's survive following the surface root damage, compaction, soil contamination and loss of gaseous exchange and water/nutrient uptake caused by these works, then yes the tree roots can continue to grow beneath and cause lifting and bulging. For those who have had this done, pay careful attention to the health of your trees going forward and have a professional Arborist carry out any necessary works to prevent any potential harm or damage caused by a failing tree. If you're still considering it then get a good arborist to advise you on your specific property requirements and the likely impact upon the health of any trees before going ahead with the works. basic rule is, don't do this within the RPA of any tree you value and want to keep healthy.

    Excellent video.
    One question: how low should be the bottom of the artificial turf compared to the deck?
    I mean, if it's the same level, the grass leaves would be about 3cm above the deck and I think it would hold dust and everything else that comes from the deck.
    But if it's about 3cm lower, people could stumb on the deck.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    After putting down base aggregate you didn't mention or show putting down sand before laying the artificial grass but at 7:25 you can clearly see sand has been layed. Isn't this a MASSIVE step to leave out. I was hoping I could use your video as a guide but feel like I can't now.

    You should note that when working with the sand installers should wear a respirator, silica sand is deadly to your lungs.

    If the walk behind cat fits through the gate why not use it instead of using wheelbarrows, would make thing alot easier.
