Broderick Jones is a very good pass protector when playing on the left side. He was out of position at RT with the Steelers. At Georgia where he played LT exclusively, I don't believe he gave up one sack in his entire senior season. If Fautanu can play RT (like he says), it would be beneficial to move Broderick back to LT, where he excels in both run blocking AND pass protection. Former Steeler Kevin Dotson was also being used out of position at LG with the Steelers. Since joining the Rams, he has been playing back at RG, and his PFF score rose 20 points. He recently received a very big contract.

don’t worry this channel just loves hot takes i guess. every time i watch them they say some dumb shi. broderick is left tackle. these guys must have not done any research on troy. the only reason he played left tackle at washington was because penix was left handed. troy is not the left tackle
What have you seen to show he's a "very good pass blocker" when playing on the left side because the #1 knock on him in the draft was that he was raw in pass pro
I think Troy is the better football player and will go on to be our best offensive linemen but Jones might be better at left tackle or at least a star at left tackle and not as much on the right side but I think Zach and McCormick will be the glue that holds one of the best offensive lines in football
@@jaredhenager4673 Broderick Jones started 19 straight games at LT to end his career at Georgia. He had 470 snaps in pass protection, with no sacks allowed his last 15 games and only 2 QB hits allowed (as per PFF). That's enough evidence for me, and apparently it was for the Steelers as well.

I think Roman Wilson will be the number two wide receiver for the Steelers. He has great speed. Great hands and his football savvy. Very smart

they should definitely let broderick go to his natural position on the left. fautanu is a beast and shouldn’t have a problem switching to the right
Fautanu should be fine at RT, he played LT for a left handed QB so it's not much of a stretch to think switching to RT will be fairly easy for him with a right handed QB.

Mel is a Ravens 🐦⬛ fan, he jokingly gave them an A - because he’s a Ravens fan, but gave them an actual A.
It’s not about what arm Fautanu’s quarterback threw with, as many have commented on, it’s about the footwork, pass set, communication with the guard beside you, and where your eyes go to instinctively after a couple of thousand snaps. I’m sure they’ll try both on the left side in training camp before making a choice. No reason not to have Troy on the left side, but we’ll have to see how it shakes out. I believe he’s better in pass pro of the two so don’t be surprised if he sticks on the left side.

We could probably slide VanJefferson out of WR 3… I know he may be best available but this is not what I think the Steelers have in mind. In my opinion we need a proven WR2 and keep Wilson in the Slot or as gadget.

Yeah, we were pretty excited here in the 'Burgh last year at this time as well.
Last year was a great draft too. We made the playoffs with the worst QB in the league & we've improved there as well.
@@627jace627Improved on paper. Being a good or even great college player does not mean you will be great in the NFL. A leader must emerge amongst this offensive line.Hopefully this center is the dude. It's good to hear these men "play with an edge". THAT is what we're missing.
I like both the first round tackles and it doesn't matter to me who is on the left or right, but Penix is a left handed QB, so why would wash, (college ball), have Fauntanu on the left side instead of his blind side, (where the best pass blocker should be) ?

This draft class is better then last year's in my opinion. Fautanu will play right tackle. I know he played left tackle in college but his quarterback was left handed so technically he protected the front side and both steelers qb's are right handed. Frazier is my favorite pick of the whole draft. Think he will become pro bowl center. Payton wilson was best linebacker in college football last season. Barring injuries which is a concern, he will be a future starter
Don't forget FT played LT but he played LT for a left handed QB. BJ to the left and FT to the right feels like the best option for me.

❤ the draft. can never have enough offensive lineman. Even with injuries, we can have success. We won’t end up like the Jets from last year. You can always have success with a deep offensive line.
Roman, the new Hines Ward? we can hope!!!
For years they have been rebuilding this offense and to have the main guys is great plus we have fill ins. It will be great because we finaly have that offensive line plus we add in our tight end room as our duo running backs will be great and possibaly allow us to get past that first round is the playoffs which is what we want.
Broderick prefers Right Tackle anyways but played left tackle last year, so he will be placed where he feels most comfortable on the right side so it works out great.

It'll be interesting who the tackles will be. Not quite ready to assume that Dan Moore Jr. won't be the best option right now, he wasn't bad last year. Also, I won't equate Mel not slurping the Steelers like many in the media to him hating us. He's hit on many of the picks whether they were good or not in his analysis.
Foutana played for a left handed quarterback, so he did not protect the blind side. Think he will play right tackle.
For a tackle to choose a side is not about the throwing hand of the QB but the competency of the athlete in moving. As many have mentioned that the Steelers screwed up by putting Dotson on the LG when he was more competent as a RG. Hope this time they can put the square peg into the square hole.

Penix is a lefty so Fautanu never blocked the blind side, many commentators mentioned this on draft night tying him to the right side . Also, Kahn has said that Jones was going to LT because its what they drafted him for. I think the idea is to transition Fauntano to the right. But who knows? Latrobe will decide.
Still feel the Steelers messed up in the late 3rd and 4ht round by not drafting a CB. Still on the board was Iowa St. CB - TJ Tampa (Drafted by Ravens). They chose depth over starter.

Don’t know enough to say I trust what the coaches decide on RT vs LT for both tackles
I think drafts should have two grades because you can do everything right and guys just don't pan out. Which means one grade should be for how the draft was managed, efficiency, no stupid trades or wasted picks on risky or project players and balancing needs versus value. I think the Steelers did a great job managing the draft this year, A. It is too early to grade the actual results, we'll have to see.
Jones can be fine at left tackle but it worked great at RT last year so all in time or go with what works period
BJ as TF has more experience with multiple positions, BJ is a true LT.
Another big body that will contribute to the offensive line is Darnell Washington. Crazy deep.

Penix Junior was a left-hand quarterback, so Broderick Jones will be the left starting tackle in my opinion that would be the blindside for right hand quarterbacks
After making a ridiculous statement like injury proof, they are starters for a reason. The mistakes you make in college you can’t make it in the NFL so let’s just tone it down a bit. I love the picks but I am a realist. These guys haven’t played a NFL down and y’all are already putting them in the Hall of Fame.
Usually grades are based on how well the team filled holes in their roster

I think this was an A- draft class for the Steelers. But it all depends on how these young men grow physically and mentally. They will have the best organizational support to help them prosper in the NFL.

@chadcabana9426 clearly you don't watch the games. The Steelers in Kenny Pickett's rookie year ended as a top 5 rushing team. Last year, after Broderick Jones started in the oline...the Steelers were 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards behind the Ravens. The only time the Steelers passed the ball more than they ran was the Killer B era.
Dan moore has to learn to play right tackle is he is going to be a swing tackle . Thats why Broderick went to rt becasue tomlin said Moore couldnt play there

I personally give this draft a B-..... We had the chance to grab any of the top 3 CB's and still got Frazier in the 2nd rd..... And we need a true #2 WR not a slot, so the Wilson pick was horrible.... Sbould gave just kept DJ..... I did really lime the Watts pick to finish the class.
Wilson is the best slot receiver possible.

Fautanu was not a blindsided blocker. Jones was a LT and blindsided blocker.
But Washington threw to the left mostly , especially on screens and Fautanu was able to get to 2nd and 3rd level

Broderick will be the LT. Only makes sense. That’s where he played when we drafted him. He’s naturally better at LT than RT. Not to mention. Troy played LT for a left handed QB. Meaning he played RT essentially for a right handed QB. This doesn’t need to be overthinked.

Am I the only Steeler nation fan who is excited about speed burner Quez Watkins? Quez can do some damage on the right team. If Russel plays well and you put a burner like Quez in the slot or run him on some go routes he can do some damage with that speed. I am excited about the new linebacker. If he stays healthy he can do some damage. And I FINALLY think they fixed the porous interior of that line. Last year defenders were just blowing through that line. And Patrick QUEEN!!! Do ANY of you guys realize how good the linebackers are now with QUEEN!!! Now you have inside and outside probowl talent at linebacker, so who do teams double now? I am excited. Steelers, PLEASE trade for a stud X receiver and please next year draft a shutdown corner and a new RB. Najee averages under 4 -yards a carry. If he cannot get that up NOW with the new line? Jaylen averages more and he was undrafted! Najee was a first round pick!!!
We are a CB, upgraded RB, X-receiver and new young QB away from a dynasty. Yes, it is a lot of holes but better then when we needed an o-line AND linebacker help too. We still should be good enough (IF Russell can get it together) to make the playoffs and then some.
