That's a pretty interesting design don't really see the purpose of the motor moving the way it does, I mean I get it but you know, 3 and 1 brand used to have 20 weight motor oil designed for electric motors I don't think they make it anymore, non-detergent is the best because it doesn't hold the dirt in solution and wear out the bearings prematurely, I use zoom spout brand, they're meant for old circulator pumps, the new 3 and 1 is kind of light and doesn't last. Sorry huge fan collector here.

Thanks for the oil information buddy. Do you have any suggestions on the best way I can do a repair on the wires on the back of the motor?

@@Bunkysworkshop believe it or not I use aftermarket percolator cords because it's rubbery and durable and they usually come in black, I snip the ends off and use the strain relief that come with them if they come with them, I did my 58 vornado floor fan from the motor to the base and then I put a dimmer switch for a ceiling fan in it so I could run it at any speed.

I wish I. Could link up with you so you could show me how you handle these things. I have another vintage fan with a similar problem and I’ve been trying to think of ways to do a repair.
