To take something that you truly love and put your hard work and dedication into and then donate it to a meaningful cause is truly special. That’s a much harder thing to do than to simply make a monthly donation or write a check. It is definitely an inspiring act and I hope it gets some of your subscribers excited about charity, and being passionate about a cause.
When my fellow soldiers understood what the core values were about, and threw in with the concept, things worked great! When they didn't.... well... thats what Military Police like me were for. 😢

Hey Casey, I love watching your videos, I‘ve tuned up and modified one car before, and I’m in the process of restoring a 1983 trans am, I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how I can find a job restoring cars? Is there some form of apprenticeship program I can apply for? I’m 20, and recently had to drop out of college due to financial reasons, and I really don’t know how to get into the field without being able to afford to go to college. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated, I really want to be a part of a team building vintage race cars one day, or work restoring old cars for people to enjoy on the streets.
I genuinely struggle to understand the mindset of ANY person who can make ANY comment like, "Hey X, why do you help other charities when you already run a charity like Y (Genius Garage in your case)?"... What (TF?) are these idiots putting in their coffee?????

But the answer to your question is, yes, if you did pay taxes, when you donate to a charity, the writeoff is normally the current market value of the item being donated. If you increased the value of the item after you originally purchased it, then you would write off the increased value, not the original market value.

When you're a tax-exempt charity, you typically don't pay tax in the first place, so no need for a tax writeoff.
