    That is correct about streams on beaches being regarded as hotshots here in Ireland for bass but also flounders. Also correct about gasses in stones causing them the not only break but sometimes explode with heat. My cousin got lamped in the forehead with a big chunk of exploding rock from a ring of stones he built around a fire 😅🤣🤣

    The red crabs are velvet swimming crabs and yes they are very vicious little buggers ,but very good eating if you find the larger ones!!!there back 2legs are actually flippers or paddles if you look at them,there also called devil crabs as there eyes are bright red too,there covered in minute hairs like velvet hence the "velvet crab "part of it!!!! They give good blood blisters when they bite you too!!!👍🏻🙈🙈👍🏻😂😂🤘😎

    When camped in the mountains...one learns not to use wet stones from the stream or lake for the fire ring...they explode sometimes violently...water trapped inside the stone turns to steam.. pressure builds and..kapow...one piece of that in the shins and you won't do that again...always use dry stones from the hillside instead

    Not beach fishing, but over here in upstate New York (USA), Johnny NoFish has come for a visit too. Going on almost 3 weeks of hardly anybody catching anything, be it stream, river, pond, lake or puddle! I wonder if the hurricane coming up our coast is the culprit. Still, a blank day of fishing beats working or doing honey-doos all day. See ya in the next one.

    Been out twice this year from i got new fishing gear, Helen's bay in N.Ireland, lovely spot of the rocks. Caught two Pollock although to small to keep. I then ventured to a place called Bangor and fished in the harbor, got two mackerel in the freezer for some winter bait fishing. If the weather here would stop pissing it down i might get out just once more. N.I has got to be one of the most wettest countries {As Jeremy Clarkson would say} "In the world"
    I'll have to get some green crabs put away, i suppose you can freeze them also? So when you venturing over to N.Ireland? I got some {supposedly} great spots lined up.

    You had it right. The liquid left in the rock turns to steam and the pressure blows the rock apart.

    Coming, originally, from the other side of the Bristol Channel, i have to ask: do you ever take trips to fish from places like Barry or Penarth?
    Anyway... enjoying the channel. Reminds me of the flirtation I had with sea fishing! My late Dad got me into it, but we rarely went together, and I probably went about a dozen times, in total. Moved Stateside before I really got into it.

      Yes,when I wrote for all the fishing magazines years ago I did articles on Barry,Penarth,Aberthaw,Monknash etc so do recall the area but I like the Somerset coastline so tend to go there...same fish as on the other side of the Channel ,plus the boat fishing at Watchet can be really good just minutes outside the harbour.

      @@TAFishing Now you mention it, I remember watching one of your older vids where you were sea fishing and mentioned Aberthaw...!
      My late Dad went out on a boat with buddies quite a few times. I think a couple of those trips were out of Watchet.
      Never caught much more than a codling, myself, when I wasn't losing rigs! ;)

    Just bought some gear .I was wondering when you cast out and put the rod on the stand if you get a bit how do you stop the rod from being pulled in. How much do you un screw the top of the reel . cheers .

      @TAFishing  Před 4 lety +1

      Loosen it just enough so so can pull a bit of line off under pressure.

    You don´t elastic the crabs on the hook or elastic their legs stop them crawling off?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  Před 4 lety +1

      Only if I have to cast a long way or if I am fishing over rough ground.I think I showed in the film and also said I was hoping to cast on to the sand,so the crab has nowhere to hide under.
