As an American I love watching the British,English,Scottish DIY videos bc it’s so much easier to retain each and ever word mostly bc the accident is that darn cool sounding ! “Then Just nip it up a bit” got me
He sounds South East England to me. I'm South West, I sound like Dumbledore from Harry Potter 😭😂
Naw, you guys!❤
@@Spencer_White 10 points to Sir Spencer
The systems are very different stateside....
Brits don't know s about heating.
Thankyou so much! Single parent, and you've saved me so much money! God bless you and you're family
Radiator fixed in 10 minutes! The pin was stuck. Thank you so much. Have learnt lots from you. Tomorrow I will balance my system. 😀😀
Spent 39yrs whacking TRV Pins with my Gordon’s, screwdriver head. Never had a problem. Even had a Care home manager who whacked them with a Stilletto heal. Worked a treat. Happy days
I watched this a few months ago but didn't have any troublesome radiators, just rewatched now with a problematic radiator and it worked a treat, thank you. 👏👍🏼
With a pregnant wife and toddler you have made our lounge a very comfortable warm today mate so thankyou 😊 it was the pin 📍
😀 your welcome
Great info. Enthusiastic diy'er but always been a bit foggy on radiators, thanks for the easy to follow info. 👏👍🏼
Followed your instructions and now have a lovely hot radiator, Many Thanks
Thanks so much for this. It was a trapped pin in mine. Really appreciate this. I’d spent the last 2 days bleeding all the radiators in the house. Then this video sorted it for me in 5 mins. Thanks again. You’re a star.
Great video! Recently moved to the UK from a tropical country where heating is not needed so Im not familiar at all with all the system.
Been over a month with one cold radiator and no clue on how to fix it but it took just 3 minutes after I watched this video to make it work again!!
Very thankful with the DIY guy and you've just gained a new subscriber!
Your welcome 😊
I was going to call a plumber but watched your video first, am so glad I did because I’ve only gone and fixed it myself! Woohoo! Proper chuffed with myself! Thank you for the video, I’ve subscribed and gonna look through your library to see what else I can fix 😄
Glad I could help! Thanks
hope you didn't use your husbands towel! 😂
Thank you so much, I am a woman on my own who has a freezing cold bedroom for just over a year, followed your advice with a gentle tap and wallah I now have a wonderful warm bedroom, plus I bled my lounge radiator which by the way had a lot of air in it to now having a full warm radiator 😊
thanks for the video. just got the rad working and we are now all warm. cheers mate
My TRV was stuck and this solved my problem. Great work. Thanks.
👍 Never worked with a radiator before, but bedroom one in house never worked - thanks to this discovered it was a rusted TRV pin, will be using replacement video in future too - amazing stuff.
Glad you like the vids :)
Thank you so much for that clear concise video. Radiator now working again! AAAAA
Thank you so much, just sorted my cold radiator with the TRV tip! 🙌🏽
Great video mate. Really informative and really helpful. Got a couple of radiators slightly cold at the bottom and will be doing a manual flush with the of this video.
I wish I had found you sooner, I’ve had lots of radiator issues which you are explaining so well
The TRV freeing-up instruction worked a treat!
Thank you very much for this. Fixed my cold radiator in less than a minute!
Excellent tutorial. My living room radiator was warm at the top cold at the bottom after watching your video I rather nervously followed your instructions, and managed to drain, remove and flush it through and after re fitting and bleeding its working perfectly. Excellent work 👏 keep up your fantastic videos
Will do, thanks a lot
Can you please advice on what if the radiator doesn't have a valve at the top to bleed?
Thanks... This video has saved me a plumber call out... 😉 👍🏻
radiator fixed, money definatley saved. thanks.
Really helpful thank you! Sludge removal is my task for the day! :)
Fixed my radiator in 3 mins. Didn't remember you could remover the valve without risking leeks etc. Got it sorted, so thanks!
I'm delighted that my radiator is heating up again. Thank you so much for this very helpful video!
Really helpful. for me worked the first option. the pins were stocked in 2 radiators. Thanks a lot.
Hi DIY Guy. Thank you so much for this video. Have just repaired my daughter's cold radiator by removing the valve thing and releasing the little pin thing. Instant hot rad! 💪
Hah great stuff
Thank you for a really clear explanation. Fixed my cold radiator as the TRV pin was stuck, & managed to release it.
Perfect 👍
Thank you so much for your video. I have just repaired a sticking pin. You have saved me calling out a plumber.
Thanks to your video, now fixed my cold radiator. 👌
Well done mate great stuff and simply put across. Thanks.
I’m amazed how just because I was looking at a new bathroom radiator today you video popped up 🤗…
I’m so great full because thanks to you I can do it myself. Guess I will be binge watching more of your videos.
Happy Days.
Take care x
Great, thanks!
Hi Mate, just managed to unstick my TRV pin thanks to this video, saved me some money!, keep up the helpful vids really appreciate the help👍🏻
Great tips! When refilling a radiator it's a good idea to add some inhibitor to prevent build-up of sludge in the system. I once had a system with so much sludge it stopped the boiler working and it all had to be flushed out.
Absolutely right. I've saved inhibitor for a separate video
@@TheDIYGuy1 Hi, Happy Christmas, I -eventually- found the “sludge” inside my (open vented) Y system had gone really hard in most places around the pump causing it to almost stop completely. This resulted in the copper pipe work system making banging noises! The “sludge” had also gone hard and almost blocked the water refill T section pipe work just before the pump” and had also narrowed the 22mm overflow vent pipe to the small loft tank. I noticed a small magnet I used actually stuck to most the copper pipe work near the pump ( copper does not magnetize so a good test for sludge inside such pipe work I understand.) So we got the pipe work, pump, 3 port valve replaced and put 2 lots of x100 inhibitor. So far so good. A good video thank you.
I found a solution to a cold rad .I turn off all the rads except the cold one / ones .Then I put heating full on for about a hour and it seems to burn off the air in the rads. ( I had already tried bleeding them with little success.
My house has been freezing lately, always thought it was a massive job to fix but thanks to this our house is nice and toastie, thanks again mate. Subscribed
Perfect, thanks for subscribing
😅😅
Hi
Brilliant! I've just taken off a thermostatic valve and fixed the cold radiator in my office. Thank you.
Glad it helped
Thanking you, great video…you have explained this superbly
cheers bud, the tappy tappy worked a treat
Superbly explained, I learnt a lot from that. Subscribed!!
Saved me a lot of hassle there! mate! Can’t get plumbers to come out for small jobs these days but it was just a stuck TRV pin, sorted in ten mins thanks to your video!👍🏻
Your welcome 👍
Problem is that “small job”, needs an experienced engineer to sort for you or you’d easily do it yourself. Vans run on fuel, they cost to insure, public liability to pay for etc. £85 minimum I charge for something local like that. You are paying for experience not time. Customers think it’s expensive because they think you’ve only been here 10 mins. Then they think we are ripping them off, but we are not. If you are a self employed plumber you’ll realise quickly the reason why we don’t go to “small jobs”.
@@Metal05 the problem is not the price. I've had plumbers give me exorbitant fees for a small job and I said sure, when can you come by, and all I get is silence after that. Why reply with a high fee and then ignore the customer when he agrees to it?
And it's not just plumbers, other trades are the same.
Thanks. Had two stone radiators. Watched two of your videos. Balanced them all and then discovered the two cold radiators had their thermostat pins stuck. A gentle tap or two released them. Hot radiators again. Happy days. Cheers.
This was very helpful and I fixed the radiator in the children’s room. I am super grateful for this video! I wish I could give it 10 thumbs up!
Haha thanks a lot. Glad it helped
On older, non pressurized systems, its a good idea to turn the heating off before bleeding the radiators,
as it is possibly to pull air in rather than release it. It's also a good idea to loosen off the actuator head in the summer.
If the pin is stuck, you can often free it by using a pair of pliers to gently ease it up, not pulling up and pulling the pin
right out. Heating engineers love TRVs, as it's a good earner going around changing them. I would never have one in my house.
Amazing, thank you so much for sharing this, I've just fixed 3 radiators that haven't been working for a couple of years x
Glad it helped
Two old radiotor working again, stuck TRV pins. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 😊
very helpful. ordered the adjustable spanner
My radiator upstairs was cold for 8 years. Your tips on checking valves, thermostat and balancing worked. Brilliant advice thank you.
Your welcome 😃
Why bother after 8 years
8 years 😮😮😮
This really is an excellent Video! Well done!!! You made it simple and clear for someone like me! Thank you!
Thanks a lot 😁
Thanks so much! I just fixed my cold radiator!! I removed the the valve and gave some gentle hits as you said and it worked!
Excellent!
For 2 years my room was freezing. I thought it was a water pressure issue and low and behold it was a stuck pin which took me 2 minutes to fix. Thanks a lot mate. Have a Merry Xmas and happy new year buddy 👍
Happy Xmas to you too. Glad the vid helped
Brilliant! Just sorted two radiators with stuck pins. Thank you! Saved me a call out fee and my son has stopped moaning about being cold!!
That's brilliant 🙂
Thank you. Followed your tips and got my radiator nice and hot after being cold in an unused room for years.
Nice work!
Thank you, first solution fixed my problem 👍
Really helpful guide to look out for if there is a problem with the radiator that the house holder can try before calling someone in to charge big money for something the home owner could do. Great tutorial guide and well compiled for ordinary people who would struggle to figure out a problem. I will have to rewatch this video a few more times to catch and more understand these hints. Especially which valve brings water in and which valve let's it out of rads and which way to turn valve to turn off or on the rad. Great job as usual to you and your great talent reaching out to ordinary people. Thank you so much
Your welcome. Thanks for the comment 👍
@@TheDIYGuy1 hi mate one of mine is just Luke warm in the bedroom hot has warm has the other ones the pipes are hot

Hello, your explanation is really good and effectively worked. I saw more than 5 similar videos but you are the best among them. I just finished fixing my radiator by pulling out heat level packet, and by gently pushing it. Many thanks and good luck to you.
Glad it helped
Nice simple video, just fixed a stuck TRV so heating sorted in that room. Next to balance all the radiators, once I can figure out the correct order.

Thank you for me to save money! I have fixed it by step 1 only.
Great Video my rad in the hallway was stone cold couldn’t remove the TRV it’s been on 20 + years so in frustration 1 very cold night I gave the side of the valve a few thumps with my rolling pin did the trick and instant heat 😊
Thank u soo much for this video, my bedroom radiator was stone cold. I tried doing what u suggested...removed the thermostat valve and pressed gently on TRV pin....and bingo...hot radiator!! Easy as that !! Thank u so much
Glad it helped
Fantastic video fella, had no knowledge 5 minutes ago, now i feel like a semi pro that can finally wallpaper behind the rads! 😄👍
Glad you found it helpful
Just remember to add inhibitor back into the system if you are going around removing rads, it will save you possible headaches in the future.
Thanks for the amazing info...
Good simple basic explanation.
My hall radiator was not working and as the thermostat was just up the stairs the heating was unregulated.
The input was hot but the radiator failed to respond until my wife said she would call a plumber and a few days later it worked perfectly! Possibly a small blockage which cleared itself.
Seriously I had flushed a bedroom radiator last year and was amazed at the gunge which came out.
I have put thermostatic valves on nearly all now and keep an eye on their condition.
Presumably a Norfolk boy like myself.
Yep, Norfolk too 👍
A really useful video, I completely understood everything you were say. Thank you
👍
Excellent instruction. So clear. Thank you.
