excellent outline of a very interesting itinerary. Sure, by flying around one gets to places fast but with this bus system one gets to see lots of inbetween parts too. Just came back from an Egypt trip and looking into a way to travel around Peru for next year so your video is perfect.

Awsome Im glad it helped. We spent about 4 months in these poor countries and it completely changed my view for sure. We come and tour all over their home lands with our pockets full of cash and then try to get a deal from a street vender who lives in a shack with no running water. Im so glad my kids were able to see how the world lives. The people are what make travel special.
In My Opinion, Peruhop is the worse option, having to stick to their schedules, when you can have the freedom of using many other great bus companies covering the same routes for a fraction of the cost. The issue with Vendors is that Haggling is the culture, they expect it, so paying "What they ask for" is actually paying 2x3x4 times the amount they actually wanted to get. Particularly more so when it comes to trinkets and souvenirs. Paying what thy ask for may be OK for you, not so much for locals.
@@travelwith6589 Not really, you can get from Lima to Cusco for around $70-$80 Stopping in Nasca, Ica, Paracas, Arequipa .. Even if you had to pay for taxis to get to the bus stations, it is still cheaper. But, it is not so much about the price, but the freedom of not having to follow their schedules when there are so many other bus options covering the same routes with more schedules. Also like it happen to you, if They do not have enough demand, they will put you in a small uncomfortable bus/van, cancel certain routes and put you on a public coach bus.

I went to Peru last September and used the Peru Hop. They had done the same thing with the buses, but it didn't bother me too much except for the long ride from Ica to Arequipa. Thank you for sharing your travel and the tips.
What EXCELLENT advice at the end! They are grateful for our generosity. We help them survive. I live in Ecuador, and sometimes get the "gringo tax" or get "gringoed" which I don't appreciate, especially since I'm very generous, as well. Blessings!

When you are RESIDENT, be it from the US or a European-descent Latin American, the price goes up on many services, especially:cabs (no meters), home repairs, car repairs, hair salons etc. The phrase "gringo prices" happens for a reason.

That little bit at the end is so true. I went to st lucia and and bought something that was $5 but I gave the woman $20 and told her to keep the change and she literally started crying. $15 brought tears to her eyes. Meanwhile I dont even notice if my washer eats $15. Just remember to be generous
I absolutely agree with you , if you want to see Peru, Travel and explore Peru now don’t wait. We were in Peru last month and had amazing trip.Due to train strike we had to walk 3-4 hours to Hydroelectrica to catch our bus going back to Cusco. the views along the way was beautiful and never got bored.And as what you’ve said and totally agree with you,don’t bargain to this native Peruvian selling goods on the street they just work for a living.I was fortunate to visit a family in Chivay and you’ll see how hard life is in Peru. I want to go back to Peru in the future to explore this fascinating country and thinking will do it with Peru Hop hoping we can get to Bolivia. Thank you for sharing this is helpful. Was the 2 hour Puno tour enough? it's 20-30min to the islands so that leaves 1 hour on the island itself? The bus schedule says arrive Puno 6am depart to Copacabana 8am what if the tour is back after 8am?

Greetings friend, I loved your video, but you really need to travel and experience Peru more and not stay just one day so that you leave at night, that is not living a trip, you have to stay and get to know the very paradisiacal places that Peru has , because all the places in Peru , its coasts , its mountains and its jungle , are very beautiful . My this trip that you made was very brief and it was not a real trip, but now tourism has been reactivated more because the pandemic could already be controlled and now everything has changed and is improved much more, since I visited Peru, I was amazed in love , since the last time I went, greetings from , sydney , Australia

I thought that travelling more slowly to Cusco might help with altitude sickness .. how did you find it when you arrived in Cusco?
Cusco was a blessing after being in Puno. If you go to Puno don't overdo it the first day, it's hard on you. I live at 5200' and it was still hard on all of us. Peru is not easy but it's amazing. Stay tuned I've got in depth Peru videos coming.

Absolutely. I was amazed at how many solo female travelers we saw. The Peru hop guides know every city very well and will advise you where to go and where not to go. I don't have costs per person. Peru hop has all the hostel pricing for every city and 10-15$ a day should be plenty for food. Everything in Cusco is expensive

How refreshing it is to see how your family travels after having watched dozens of 'influencer' vlogs. You gave honest and heartfelt advice. If you don't mind me asking, which tour company did you use for the sand dune buggy ride in Huacachina? I've read that safety could be an issue with some of these companies. Would love to watch more of your travels in Peru. Thanks.
Peru hop lined up the sand buggy. It's an adventure, I don't think dangerous but I'm an adrenaline junkie. I have a lot of good footage coming for peru just haven't gotten to it yet. I'm a contractor and swamped all summer but it's coming. Traveling with teens is hard. They miss friends, dating, driving it's ultimately why we came home. We had a 1 year around the world trip planned but cut it short for them.
oh come on. "peruvian bed", that's term or idea does not exists. It happened that your hotel did have those small beds, but that's absolutlely not the standard at all in Peru. Normal beds, period, just call that hotel to tell them to change those beds, simply.

You could have found out about altitude sickness. Countries outside of the United States are NOT the United States. One of the reasons for travel is learn about other cultures. It is important to be flexible when traveling.
Great video, but i'd like to make some corrections about the culture. The southern andes of Peru was the most staunchly loyal to the Spanish in the country, most of the royal army was made up of people from Lima and the southern Andes. For example, those "traditional clothes" you are seeing are not from anywhere in all of the Americas, they come from Europe, Spain to be exact, but they are the fashion of the late XVIth century, which was adopted by the local people as they were integrated and mixed with Spanish culture. Unlike the English, the Spanish didn't live apart from the locals and there was heavy intermarriage between them, at all class levels, there were laws to protect and give rights to the natives and they went about their business as normal. Where there abuses and excesses? yes, like in any country at all times, even now. So no, they didn't "resist" or "fought back" against the Spanish in the sense you are mentioning it. What happened in the Inca empire was that the Spanish, with help from native allies and half of the Inca empire (the Inca were in a civil war at the time of contact) married into the Inca royalty and authority was transferred to them and acknowledged by the local rulers from all the former lands of the empire, sealed with the customary exchange of gifts and wives. It was after the plagues hit, successive waves for more than 50 years that ruled was transferred to the children of the unions between Spanish and Natives, since they inherited immunity. The local languages where preserved, the Spanish created dictionaries for them and at least 60% of Peru spoke Quechua or Aimara until the 70's. I suggest you read sources not based on the Black Legend, if you are interested in understanding reality and the facts ofc. There are several sources in English from people of the time, (XVI to XIX century) discussing the differences between the English and Spanish colonies. And how the natives had rights and were protected in the Spanish ones while that was ofc not the case in North America.

Ya that part sucked. I think if your a savy travel than you could do the bus no problem. But if a scared American with no Spanish it's pretty nice

Absolutely. The short tour is pretty touristy but if you can swing the long tour it would be a much better experience. Not sure on timing

This video was our fourth month abroad and our third country. We had paired down a lot of luggage by this point. I personally used a single backpack

Sorry for the delay. Yes they pick you up at your hotel. We only paid for the taxi from the airport to our hotel in Lima. Peru hop was great

We bought water the whole time, 4 months. Try to buy large container and pour in our reusable. Avoid single use containers. Don't trust any water!!
Also if you stay in AIRB&B they usaully provide a 5 gallon clena drinking water. If you stay a while they have water delivery to the apartment
Don't drink tap water, You can boil it or Buy water bottle. I'm peruvian and it is risky to try tap water.

I didn't mention it but while we were in Peru it was mandatory double mask's. Proof of vaccination to enter any store. I hope it's better now
