@@krisg822 If someone's opinion does not coincide with yours, then this does not mean double standards. I don't like the Ukrainian song at all (I'm from Ukraine). But I understand that someone else might like it. There are a lot of good entries this year. That's why so many people think that voting is not fair. But the truth is that even those who didn't make it into the top 10 could theoretically win or get into the top 3. And Belgium was great too. And Latvia, although it is not even in the final. I don't like that Sweden won. I like Finland more this year. My top 3 is 1. Finland 2. Israel 3. Sweden.

Let me finish by congratulating the entire Belgian team. This was a product that was 100% complete. Vocals, backings, visuals, costumes, Preparties. They worked so damn hard to convince people that the reason was to party & to be yourself, surrounded by friends & family (whether real ones or chosen ones). I am so proud in Gustaph, and have a feeling we might win soon ! Hopefully either in 2024 or 2025. Let's bring the ESC back to Brussels !

@@rasmussenthegreat1685 I'd have to say Gustaph had more of the underdog story than Alika did because his win in Eurosong 2023 came as a total surprise - the majority of fans wanted Chérine to win and they bashed him for that. He got heckled by some people at the Barcelona pre-party (people were chanting Chérine's name during his performance). But in the end, he proved the haters wrong by getting Belgium its first top 10 finish since Blanche in 2017 and recorded the second-highest placement in the semifinal era for an entry submitted by the Flemish broadcaster (he also has the second-highest scoring Flemish entry of all time)

I’m so pleasantly surprised for Belgium. Wasn’t a big fan of the song at first but it’s really grown on me, and that final performance was so fun and anthemic. You could really tell Gustaph cared and it was wonderful to see him defy expectations.
Its a better stage song than a radio song. I bet that helped a lot.

I still remember the shock when Gustaph won the Belgian final. No one expected him to win. He won with an advance of only …one point.
I didn’t like this song. Yet he deserved to win as his act was the best. He stood up, showed his vulnerability, build up to an amazing performance and stole everyone’s hearts. I couldn’t be more proud about him, being a fantastic professional, a truly beautiful person and the perfect role model. Hoedje af ❤
