- Vocal Coach Reacts To Paul McCartney and Wings - Maybe I'm Amazed - Live - Ken Tamplin
Before he was the great Sir Paul McCartney, he once failed two choir boy auditions but I think things turned out alright for him.
We all know Paul as a prolific songwriter, composer, producer and singer and of course as one of the four Beatles.
Growing up he was a self-taught musician first starting with the trumpet before moving to guitar and then bass which he played with the Beatles.
Paul brought a melodic approach to his bass-playing and had a wide tenor vocal range that spanned over four octaves.
His partnership in songwriting with John Lennon was the most successful of all time. After the Beatles broke up, he pursued a solo career starting with the band Wings.
McCartney has gone on to be one of the most successful composers and performers of all time writing or co-writing 32 songs that have reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. He is also the wealthiest rock star of all-time with a net worth of $1.2 billion.
Today I'll be reacting to a performance with the Wings of "Maybe I'm Amazed". Check it out and let me know what you thought!

McCartney has one of the most powerful voices I’ve heard in my life
I finally saw Paul McCartney playing live 3 years ago. At age 76 he still performed for almost 3 hours including a solo performance of Blackbird and ending the show with Helter Skelter.
I haven't heard any rock singer with a voice as smooth as mccartney's. And by smooth I mean it stretches from high to low, loud to soft, without a hint of strain, it's really incredible.
Compte Prive 👍
This entire concert is an incredible pleasure. The musicianship and vocals of each song are incredible.. Even on Denny or Jimmy’s songs, look to the left, they must think wow that’s Paul McCartney giving me second! I never get over that. Love this man.
Please please do isolated vocals of “ Oh Darling!”
jnixa1010 Thanks for the suggestion.
That hurts my voice, even when I am not singing it!
paul won't even touch this song anymove.
McCartney can sing just about anything. Another singer with such a pleasure-inducing tone.
Absolutely, VIDEOHEREBOB!
"My Love" and "Maybe I'm Amazed" are such beautiful love songs to Linda. He really loved her so much it amazed him. I think its great that Paul made Linda part of the band. He wanted to share everything with her. Very romantic. I learned well from Paul's love songs.
He the best.
That is all there is to it ,
Without a doubt! Paul is beyond any entertainer ever. He´s not just brilliantly talented he is also a simply delightful human being. He is the best.
I love those Wings concerts where you see Paul play a Rickenbacker. McCartney fans think he only played the Hofner.
This song shows a great range in his voice.
Tau Noctua It sure does!
I’ll be 51 soon, and there has never been a season in my life where Paul McCartney’s music wasn’t playing in the background. He even came out with new music about a year ago, (Fall, 2018). This man’s music is consistently prominent on the “soundtrack” of my life. And this live version is spot-on and fantastic.
Robert Benedict Well said. I'm guessing countless fans would agree with you.
He had such a great voice, I think it sounded best in the 70's. "Monkberry Moon Delight" was a particularly memorable vocal performance. Some of his later songs sound good, when they don't mess around with his voice and let you hear how vulnerable it is.
Ken: "How could you not love that?" Exactly!! Paul is the Master of Masters!!! Thanks for the video man!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
One of the greatest vocalists of all time
Happy New Year! 🎉🍾🥂
You could not have picked a better version of Maybe I'm Amazed. This is my favorite version. It gives me chills every time I see it. So glad I have been able to see McCartney live 5 times in my life.
daletwin1 It's just such an exceptionally beautiful song!! I love it!
@@kentamplin it is. One of my all time favorites and Paul McCartney is my all time favorite singer. I have been blessed to have seen him perform it live 5 times.
By the way, I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. I love good singing and I have had formal training in vocals. Playing guitar/bass and singing are two of my passions. I know that Paul McCartney's music is the biggest reason why I started studying music and took up playing and singing.
The greatest composer of all time! love you paul. Great reaction video too. God bless you. power! mabuhay!
"how could you not love that?"
smiled on that remark :)
👍👍👍
Great song. Paul McCartney is my all time favourite. What an amazing career he has had.
He certainly had, irishmusico!
Imagine this guy with John Lennon! Wow! Supergroup! Lol
Saw McCartney live! Hands down, best concert I ever saw! I've seen Alot of big names too!
Perhaps the best live rendition of this epic song! :-)
Thanks for the visit! Rock on! 👍
Paul McCartney was my late Fathers favorite. He passed away at an early age of 52. He influenced me all my life and now my 16 year old son feels the same and is in love with the Beatles/Wings. He just got a brand new Fender Strat! Thanks Ken for you!
That gave me goosebumps hearing it again.
This was Paul at his finest playing and singing absolutely brilliant thank you!
I love this performance not only for Paul's voice but the drummer is awesome.
And what about lead gutarrist?
Love McCartney's solo and Wings material from the early to mid '70's.
Me too, Eric!
Paul McCartney is a legend and this song is just as outstanding :)
I agree, Keep!
In the dictionary under the word Legend is a picture of Paul McCartney enough said!
Jim Paquette 👍
I saw this concert when Paul played Wembley, London, an added bonus was I won two tickets. Tremendous concert which still lives in my memory.
This is my favorite song. This version is AWESOME! The instrumental is powerful.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Texas Traveler!
I love the tightrope analogy. Most of my favorite singers (including McCartney) seemed to love the challenge of making it across to the other side.
New subscriber... Paul McCartney is my favorite of all time.
Thanks for the sub, ET Racing!
I`ve seen Paul live twice, and they are the best concerts i`ve been too. I`ve seen the Stones and Elton John live, and both acts were good, but Paul was pure magic. He is my favorite Beatles, the best songwriter in the world, and probably the most multi-talented musician to have ever walked the earth. It will be a really sad day when he passes. Thank you for your video, and for picking "Maybe i`m amazed" A lot of rock critics has been bashing Paul, saying he never did anything good after the Beatles. Well. They should check out this video, and this song. And maybe listen to "Ram" "Band on the run" "Tug of war" and other Paul McCartney gems.
Maybe I'm Amazed is the best!
@@kentamplin Yes it really is. It`s ranked as Pauls best song ever by many. And that is quite a compliment when you know that Paul wrote "Hey Jude" "Let it be" "Here, there and everywhere" "Penny Lane" etc.. I saw an interview with Bob Dylan where he said he was in awe of Paul McCartney. I have to agree with Bob. Anyway thanks for your video.
Yes, how could you not love that?
I am a Beatlefan and have had a crush on Paul for years 😍
Thanks for this reaction, Ken!
Loved your medley 🎤
Thanks for dropping by, Mamy!
Man, I'd been wainting so bad for this! One of the best artists ever, one of the best songs ever!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Rodolfo!
You are so right about the ebb & flow to the music then. I was born to the best generation of music. So grateful!!! Saw so many amazing talents! That is what I will take to my grave!!!! 😂😂😂
Wings. So great. This is like 1973, right? His then beautiful wife Linda singing in the band with him. So many memories.
5speedMax Theirs was a great love story, wasn't it?
1976
1976 Wings Over America
1976; Wings Over America tour
That is my favorite Paul McCartney vocal performance.
Awesome!
Halfway through, I got full body chills until the end. Unreal.
Dave Howie I know!
Call Me Back Again (same tour) SUPERB!
Well you have to love Paul that is all i can say! I went to see him live in 2013 and he played for like 3hrs as he was late starting the show .. but he was so amazing and sounded just like the older days! He is one artist i must say that has never lost his vocals :) Glad that you choose to do this one Ken!
Glad you enjoyed it, Kelly. Glad Sir Paul still performs well! That's great to hear!
@@kentamplin Yes he sure did to me and 35,000 Other fans Ken! I only hope i can see him again someday!
I loved your reaction! His vocals are by far my favorite vocals of any singer/songwriter, and when you put that together with his amazing songwriting abilities, then and only then do you get this result. I'm excited for his new record to come out later in December!
So am I, Ben!
This song is so amazing it gave me goosebumps!
I would love to have heard your thoughts, Ken, on his raspy vocal texture and then the clean smooth falsetto he masterfully employs like a plumber pulling out his favorite Channellocks (pliers). - Frank
Thank you Ken.
Great song. I enjoy you talking about the instruments and arranging as well. This song still makes me tear up a bit because it evokes such strong emotions. This is what good music should do.
This is Macca's fave song that he wrote. THIS is live singing. He doesn't do the top F scream but.... brilliant brilliant.
pinball1970 Well said my man!
What a legend. Have you seen him play with Dave Grohl? He rocks hard. I love his piano playing too. I saw an interview with him once where he wouldn't let the camera person film his hands like it was a secret part. I wish I remembered what song that was.
Plus this version is undoubtedly the best version ever ... taken from Rockshow ... ❤️❤️❤️
... and obviously from Wings Over America (1976) .... more ❤️❤️❤️
What an amazing musician, singer, and performer Paul is, Nanoci62!
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy For me # 1 EVER ... although if you’re talking just about singing I think that the best voice ever is Philip Bailey’s ...
His voice is a present of God to us. The best songwriter and compouser of the last and this Century. Macca forever!
Rock on!
Ken. I'm jealous!. You're so lucky to have seen Paul all those times. His incfedible music and career have enriched so many millions of lives. Thanks for the reaction Vid. This is one of Paul's personal favorite songs.
Jimmy Mac, wow! Just wow!
Love Paul McCartney! Recorded at a time when the fabs were on the out and all but done
This is probably my favorite of your vocal coach reactions. Like you, I don't just listen to a song, I absorb it and come out happy.
That's awesome, Dan!
He knocked it out of the park. That tour he had a great horn section and just a killer band in general. I love how he puts the passion right into the vocals, esp. on the studio version. My fav. Beatle...❤️
I think he puts so much MORE passion into his vocals here in his LIVE performance, which I feel is MISSING from the studio version....plus the live version is longer and he doesn't end the song with a long instrumental like it is in the studio version (which just fades out, as you know) LIVE he sings another verse and ENDS it with his passionate vocals. MUCH better as far as I am concerned than the studio version. I LOVE his LIVE performances because he is more passionate in his vocals when he is front of a massive audience. Nothing better than Macca live...
Amazing song. Many thanks Ken for your comments. I learned a few things. 👍👍🥀🥀
Thanks for listening!
Happy New Year! 🎉🥂🍾🎈🧨
Paul was/is one of the most talented songwriters composers etc. ever. It's a shame they broke up. But, he has been greatly successful through the years. Like him or not you cant deny his talent. Some of the bass lines he plays and sings at the same time. I'm jealous of anyone that can do that stuff.
D Yot65 I agree. I recently saw an interview where Sir Paul said the break up was wanted, and initiated, by John.
@@kentamplin Yes sir I saw that one too.
You may want to react to Abbey Road album Ken! It's the 50th anniversary of it! 👌💕
AP S Hard to believe, isn' t it?
Yah, you were just a young pup when that came out! 🐾
AP S 🐶🐶🐶
My favorite Beatles album and one of my favorites of all time.
I so much love the album..band on the run.great album!
I R O N G R A Y👍
Paul´s best album
I sensed that the "weight" of the Beatles took away some of the joy of music for Paul at the end of that incredible run. BUT, look at any of the pictures of him when he was with Wings and it always seemed to be joy all over his face. They were an absolutely incredible band, from the writing of the music, the talent, and of course, the magic of Paul McCartney.
classic kool They were just fantastic!
Ken, I not only lose myself in listening to the music but also in watching you do the same.💕🎼🎤🎸💕
Ellexis It's just such great music, isn't it?
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy ...Like you said Ken, “How could you not love that?!” Honestly, it just makes me melt. I really can’t wait to hire you as my vocal coach once my schedule calms. Keep rocking Ken!💕
I was at this tour in Atlanta Georgia. Will never forget that night.
😀👍
Hey Jude, yesterday, live and let die, no more lonely night are my favorites.
Lusi Ratna All, simply, great!
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy yes, great song writer, but i don't know if it's true, there's a rumor the original Paul McCartney death in 1966 due to car accident, he was replace by bill shears. A lot difference between them in their photos. Eyes, height, bone structural from their face.
I hope it's hoax. God bless.
You look so happy guiding us through this. Thank you, it's very interesting to hear your opinions. Cool stuff
No question...the Beatles had divine intervention. The 2 greatest writers of all time in the same band.
John gatti 👍
Don't forget Harrison. He made some of the greatest Beatles songs
Love that song! Instantly brings joy and changes my mood in a good way!
🤘🏻👍
Beautiful. Forgot how much I loved that era of Paul McCartney!
Gracias y saludos cordiales desde Mallorca para ti también Ken tamplin felicidades
Great choice. I get chills every time I hear this live version. Brings back great childhood memories. Impossible to sing it like he can-always perfect. Paul recorded all of the instruments himself when first released. Love his guitar. Great video..Thanks
great !!!!! the best of all for me is Paul. if you want to listen a a hidden gem listen to Paul·s solo song "House of wax" the live version. (forget my english , i speak spanish) nice reaction ,for sure !!
Thanks for the suggestion, Gerardo!
Thank You Ken T! That rocked.
Yes. Spot on 👍
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Erik!
Your enjoyment reacting to these songs reminds of myself & my love of music. I think I could sit & have a pint with you & talk all things music lol.
I do love music, Daniel! Keep on rocking!
Gorgeous song ♥️ Wings were very polished 👍🏻 difficult for a band like this to ever sound bad !!
Absolutely!
Another legend. Next vid, Ken reacts to "The girl is mine" lol.
Really awesome! The guitar is beautiful. And I agree.
You sure picked one of the best with this amazing song! 👍👍👍👍
😊 Thanks for listening!
Amazing!
I love this song and performance :)
Thanks for the visit!
Ive been waiting for your reaction to paul mccartney .. and i thought you will choose My love as it was my favorite.
But this version of maybe in amazed was really amazing too. Can never go wrong with paul.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Kevin!
Paul is the BEST!
👍👍👍
another living legend.
Awesome video ken!!🖒🖒Great song!!😁🖒
Although this is a great live version, the Wings over America album version is better in the way it builds dynamically. There's a reason why that version made it on the album and this one you're viewing did not! Great video....Thanks Ken!
Mccartney, the humbler. Thanks Ken, great insights.
Ken is so in Love - in music!
im amazed!
Love you Ken, I watch a lot of experts and I try to believe them but when I watch you, it’s the truth about music and vocals. Straight up honest advice. Thanks man.
My pleasure and thank you, Brett!
Goosebumps. Always.
karend169 👍
Love it... Simply playing and singing your song. Such great performances back in the day.
Great reaction, Ken!
Thanks Susan!
Ouhh Yeaah!! Esta cancion me encanta,Viva la música rock de los 60-70 y 80. Grande Paul McCartney y Grande tu Ken por subir y analizar estos vídeos, eres the Best🎸👍🔝
Thank you, Antonio!!
That was beautiful! Also, I'm sure you were motioning like you were playing the trombone...
Yeah Ken, I didn't realize how every band back then were such disciplined musicians and I wasn't aware of that back then, but only now 40 years later do I realize this.
Thanks for spotlighting the wingsl version of Paul. What would they have done if that lineup stayed together? Take me down Jimmy (rip).let's not forget Paul played all the instruments on maybe I'm amazed as well as the whole album, which he has done many times.
What can you say about Sir Paul McCartney? He is a fenomenal singer, his songwriting skills are unmatched and he is an outstanding instrument player. Probably the best musician there is if you consider the whole thing!
Paulo Pinto Well said!
Wonderful song. Fantastic performance. Great reaction. Thank you. Subscribed.
Thanks for subbing!
The guitarist is the late Jimmy McCulloch
Thank you, Big Rock!
Unfortunately, he died a few years after this performance at the age of 26! Tragic!!
@@jeffstorm4351 Jimmy didn`t invent the solo. He is playing the exact same notes as Paul did on the original version, so the solo belongs to Paul.
Yellyman it’s close but he brings something else to it in my ears
Great video as always
Glad you think so, Marius!
Such a great song, truly classic and timeless. A man singing about his love for a woman. Also, such musicianship and artistry. Great video Ken!
I'm glad you liked it, Todd!
Not just a "man singing about his love for a woman." ....it's written all about his love for his WIFE Linda, specifically FOR and ABOUT her. Listen to the lyrics....especially "....how you HELP ME SING MY SONGS" (which she does) and how she basically pulled him out of his deep depression when the Beatles broke up. That is what the song is about.
Paul, John, George and to a lesser extent Ringo developed organically. Without each other I doubt we would know any of them. Despite their differences they brought out the best musical talent in each other. And it is a joy to behold. And the arrangement on this song is superlative
😀
Epic.
I agree, Dan!
Man i love this your videos are never goning to get old i love your videos and your sense of humor and how much good advice you give thank you for the helpful advice
Thank you, Mackenzie! I appreciate that.
