- Much requested advice video for those looking into getting into interviewing musicians. Rather than reply at length to all the emails about it I thought I'd put all the info in a video so I could put all in one place! Hope it's helpful x

Great video. You explained the process, before, during and after interviews so well! I always think you look great in your interviews, and you seem to recover well from any hicc-ups etc. :) x
Super helpful video! Thank you so much for making this. I recently started a music blog and love going to concerts so I was thinking about trying to get some interviews with the artists I see but I didn't really know how to go about it. Thanks again for the tips :)
The intro to this is so cool! 😍 xx

Hi, I'm a journalism student and blogger. After watching this video I finally plucked up the courage to sort out my very first interview with a band! I'm interviewing them tonight for my blog, and I feel you have given some great advice for me to take on board. Thank you xx
Hey Abigail, that's great! So pleased for you. How did it go? Do send me the link when it's live. Hopefully it's the start of great things for you xx

Thank you for making this video Sophie! This is exactly the information I needed! You are amazing :) x
Oh good, I'm glad it's helpful! xx
It's very helpful, I look forward to getting into this in the future. Would you say there is an age in which would be best to start because I'm 16 and I'm not sure if that would be too young?
+LittleMusicGirl that's perfect! Start s blog , start writing reviews and build an audience. Write to online music sites and say you'd up for writing and interviewing. They generally don't pay so are always looking for enthusiastic and willing people! X
Okay! I've always wanted to start a blog so I think I will give that a go! Thank you for this advice. I really appreciate it! x
I'm a journalism student and I hope that one day I can make interviews as good as yours! your music interviews are always the best!
You're comment made my day thank you! I'm sure yours will be loads better. Go for it! xx
Really inspiring and helpfull your video , I start my project doing inerviews to Rock bands a year ago ,I am doing all on my own (building my website , youtube channel , editing the videos ...) and any tip is really welcome . Thank you xxx
Can you talk us through your set up please? Camera you have, the mic and how it all fits together??
- Have you befriended anyone you've interviewed? I see getting into interviews as a good excuse to meet and talk to some of my favourite people, but I wonder if some celebrities think of "the media" as more of an enemy/chore/burden than potential friend material. What's been your experience?
- You mentioned that some people you interviewed have been rude. Without naming names, can you give some examples of what's happened?
Hi...so much I could say in reply. You are right that many do see it as an necessary evil, and make it perfectly clear they hate doing interviews, either by saying it to your face before you begin, making it clear through body language, or by being really tricky to talk to. Some of them are so anti press they don't give you a chance. Then theres some that don't enjoy press or are shy, that you can win over, and when you do its the best feeling. When someone who doesn't enjoy interviews and comes away saying that was nice/fun it's very rewarding. Theres a number of bands I call my friends now because we've gotten on during our chats and kept in touch or because I've interviewed them so many times we get to catch up each time. Then there's the type that add you on facebook/instagram etc after and want to 'hang'. In terms of being rude, I have many stories. The ones that keep you waiting for three hours, and then people wonder why you're not on your A game when you finally sit down for interview. Then theres some who have been inappropriate or lechy. I had one guy who was really arsey the second time I interviwed him because I didn't respond positively to his advances following our first interview. Then theres always some awkwardness when you're given a list of things you can't bring up. I interviewed one buy from a very big band who had a girlfriend so insecure she insisted on sitting in on the interview, which was fairly awkward. I'd say don't expect to become friends with them, but sometimes it happens if you connect with them. But also be prepared that illusions will be shattered. On the whole people are nice, but there are of course a few bad eggs, like all industries, and its a bummer when its someone you used to really respect x
i research on instagram
I started a magazine and I wanna interview this band I talk to a lot but I’m scared this would the first interview I ever did
Jealous that you interviewed the girls from BABYMETAL! I wouldn't like the pressure of having a BUNCH of people looking at you on how you're doing your job, but I guess i have to deal with it. ;-) Got my first interview in a few days with Pär Sundström from Sabaton, so I'm really hyped! :)
Just a follow up on this: I want to thank you very much for giving me the inspiration to do this! I've done my second interview with the band Suicide Silence and I feel I'm getting better with each interview! Thank you so much Sophie and have an amazing day/night/evening. :)
DK AMVs so pleased to hear it's going well for you! Love to hear more updates xxx
Hi there! My name is Jessica and I am just starting out in journalism and I'm trying to get some interviews at Chicago Open Air this year. Any tips or tricks?? I've never done an interview before so I don't have much to "Wow" a PR. Heelllppp!
TheIronMaiden C: we'll try and contact the emerging or new talent ( that may well be huge next year) as you may have better chance with them than the established bands. Just be super polite in the email and just display your passion for music somehow. Don't make your email too long though as PR's are so busy! See if you can contact sponsors of the festival to see if they'd like interview content for their websites or social media. Then that might make it easier to secure slots! All the best, let me know how you get on xx
Sophie Eggleton awesome! thanks so much for the tips. I'll let you know how it goes :)
