This is essentially what I'm doing with my deathwatch. Modelling squads entirely as their parent chapters. Aiming for 140 Terminators at the Minimum. Aiming to get myself some Soul Drinker and Imperial Fist Terminators in the future. Great work Valrak!!

Love the Souldrinkers. They where the first 40k books I read. And I also try to build an army of them
Dib40K Brillant books. Had 1 in my DW squad 12 years back (stopped collecting back then)
I am half way through building a Chapter of them. I literally have more Soul Drinker models in that Army than are actually in some of the books.
@@matthewgnepper3201 On my 2nd read through I tried to keep a rough tally of their numbers. Impossible task.
After the Chapter civil war there were less than 3-400. Yet still about 80-100 in the last book.
@@Mugdorna I did something similar when I decided to build the army, I kept track of notable characters and what they had. That way if you you looked you could spot Nicias or Scarmander. Not just Sarpedon or Tellos

I stopped collecting 12 years aho but had my home brew all numbered by squads and names for all squad leaders and most weapons specialists. 156 figures in total.

I am so happy to see Soul Drinkers love. I used that exact same model for the Chapter Master of my Soul Drinkers reborn chapter. All of my Primaris have the Imperial Fist Chapter Symbol on their right knee pad, in recognition of their defense of the Phalanx in their last book, and being Judged as true Sons of Dorn by Vladamir Pugh.

I always enjoy these videos. Valrak has got a really solid tabletop painting standard and he churns out the models like a machine.
It's a classic example of how you don't have to paint every model to golden demon standard to have an army that looks cracking when you put it together on the table.

Well given the whole thing with the captain having a black cape I think black markings would be the best. (That and I think purple and black go well together)

When you glue the painted bits together, do you scrape off the paint and use plastic glue, or do you use super glue?

Do you block up the glue points on your models to avoid issues with the paint after you finish detailing?
I would use black squad markings as their mark of shame like the captains cape

1. the green is called olive drab
2. since i seen your army i am planning to do a similar thing with the dark angels
3. when you paint them first and THEN assemble them does that mess up how the glue sticks?

since the retrubutors of Astartes fame are also sons of dorn, have you considered a few of them as well to answer the Call? would be a Nice tribute. you can even get some retributors acessories now to customize them

I’m curious. Where in the Indomitus Crusade did Guilliman say that chapters would be reborn? Was it in a novel that came out with the box set? Was it in one of the Psychic Awakening books?
I still get confused about the subjugators but that's only because I play necromunda and the enforcers have a elite group called the subjugators (the ones with the riot shields)

nah its just practical having them gatherd in one place , speeds up the process really. it is actually very nice of them to serve themselves up on a platter like that.
the emperor kept the fists back giving them busyworks since they were to weak to succed in the great crusade. coddled sons of dorn dont tend to do well out in the real world ;)

Your last wall protocol would look much better with more types of units for each chapter you have there such as tanks speeders and other foot soldier units

Imperial Fists have the most dynamic chapters... each is so different. No other Legion has so many cool choices... not even the Ultramarines. My Iron Hands... I can't even think of any other chapters founded from them.
IF has: Imperial Fists, Black Templars, Crimson Fists... those three alone have more lore than some founding legions (White Scars, Iron Hands, Raven Guard)
Red Talons, Brazen Claws, Sons of Medusa, Iron Lords... for the Iron Hands
