I havent watched this season but watching this clip I felt the same as u. How heartbreaking he shares so much and she just responds like that. No response is sometimes red flags.
She’s reassured him and supported him all season. The reaction they showed us was against how she’s treated him all season so I don’t buy it. Even if she did freeze she chased after him, twice, and he berated her. He was cruel. She apologized, begged, tried to explain and he reacted unlike anything I’ve seen on this show. Im just glad it came out now and she didn’t get engaged to the him.

I mean, that looks like a girl who already chose someone (Blake). Greg also had lapses, could have handled that better (the entitlement, the manipilation etc) but him saying that it was his first time admitting love for a girl and got that level of dismissal i guess he didnt know how to handle that so his reaction was on fight mode.

Watching him pour his heart out to her and her literally serve him up absolutely nothing was really so painful. The, “I just really love looking at you” was like the worst thing she could have said.
Right? I was yelling at the TV, will say something girl! Don’t leave him hanging! And then after all that she says I just like looking at you. I guess that’s all she could think of to say which is sad on her part. But she’s young and still trying to figure out how to express herself I guess.
That was terrible! If she made a decision to not tell men she loves them, she should have put some thought into how she would respond if a man said he loved her. The fact that she had not prepared a response shows me that she made up this arbitrary rule as a defense mechanism because she didn’t believe a man would actually say that to her on the show. Her response reallyyy rubbed me the wrong way because I’ve definitely felt objectified and not taken seriously by men before because of my looks, and it honestly came across like she just saw him as an attractive person and nothing more. I’ve talked to very attractive men who struggle with the fact that people think they lack depth, insecurities, or the capacity to feel hurt. Katie just sounded so superficial here and failed to handle a very raw/vulnerable person with the care and emotional awareness she claims to have… and he totally lost it too and has work to do 😂

I disagreed. Katie contractually cannot tell him that she wants him or the one. I think she simply didn’t choose her words wisely or correctly. I Mean it is tough considering there are rules and this is a show dating multiple men.
This interaction shows that Greg need to heal from his trauma. He is emotional but also shut shown quickly when felt unsafe. When Michael A shared with the guys his wife passing, Greg (from what they showed) seems the most emotional out of the guys. I wish him and Katie healing and happiness
AbsoLUTEly. He needs therapy to heal from whatever demons he still has. And honestly, I think Katie needs it too. It would reeeeeally help their relationship.
After her " I just love looking at you" response, his expression just says that there's no coming back after that. That one phrase made whole demeanor change and it just stayed that way.
If a guy just poured his soul out to me in tears my response wouldn’t be” I just like looking at you.” Her response really threw me off. He wears his emotions on his sleeve and she doesn’t. That led to the disconnect. People also deal with emotions in different ways. Katie laughed and that made me think that maybe she was emotionally overwhelmed by what he was sharing with her and she didn’t know how to receive it or process it and her reaction became one of nervous laughter and saying something inappropriate.
Interestingly enough, that’s why she got mad at Thomas… he was smiling when she was emotional

I think both sides were right in some capacity, though i understand greg's point of view a little more. He felt dismissed and rejected her initially by Katie's stoic reaction to a vulnerable moment. I think he then started to overthink, with greg always showing a bit of an anxious demeanor, and was looking for any kind of reassurance. He didn't recieve that and felt hurt. And then with the conversation the next day, I think he was upset because she was still talking to him in reality terms. Days away from an engagement i think he was looking for something that would be real, in terms of applying to real life. Hearing something like you're my top two or you're getting the rose wouldn't be as meaningful as something like I can't wait to spend my life with you or something else outside of the bachelorette, the game itself. So maybe he felt as if she was still viewing this in the rose tinted goggles of the bachelorette rather than a real li'fe relationship. I think he was hurt, and hurt people hurt people which explains his heated response to Katie. Did I think Katie was wrong? yea. Did I think Greg was wrong? yea.I think Katie had good intentions, but it was just poor communication between the two of them. There was something non reactive, non connecting and dead after he opened up like that. There is no being more vulnerable on his end and she didn't "catch" his feelings. No hug, no real lighting up ,no excitement. It seems very "Bachelorette talk". I think that's why he said it's real to him. Forget the process, it's their journey, not the Bachelorette journey and normal thing to say. Any person would have more reaction from someone telling them a pizza was ordered for them. I replayed it and it's dead.
You can tell her feelings shifted from Greg being top pick to shifting to Blake after hometowns , which is why i think he struggled with how to respond to him. Greg felt it. He could tell her feelings changed.

I agree I do believe Greg was being real in this moment and extremely vulnerable, But I think Katie was trying to hold back because she knows she has to meet other people’s families and she doesn’t want to promise Greg some thing and then meet another man’s family because that would be wrong

Tbh Katie didn't give an appropriate emotional response to Greg after he was vulnerable in sharing his emotions
Sure but then Greg took it too far by: 1) making vague accusations without giving constructive feedback or even giving Katie an opportunity to respond let alone make things right; 2) threatening to leave instead of calmly explaining what he needs and working with her to solve the problem; and 3) having Katie chase him all around the resort, and failing to console her when she was genuinely sobbing on her knees on the floor. Katie being aloof and not expressing herself perfectly should never cause someone to act that destructively towards her.
This gave the same vibes as when I told a guy I was dating that I was starting to fall for him and he told me I was fun 🤣

She not only inappropriately smiled but LAUGHED! She further insulted him by asking him what was wrong and saying that his body language shifted, not realizing that it was because of her response smh. He tried to have a conversation with her the next day about it and you can tell she still wasn't fully understanding everything
@@destinyjohnson211 he was too hurt to think that maybe Katie was just feeling anxious and that her anxiety was why she responded so awkwardly. Maybe he assumed she was being malicious. He needed more validation than she was able to give and he bullied her to get it. His feelings are justified but not his actions- he should not have hurt her just to feel better about himself. But clearly both of them have much to learn about defense mechanisms.
Bad communication and understanding on both sides. She should have reciprocated his vulnerability and he should not have shut himself down when she didn’t. I do believe she loved him and he needed that reassurance, so he should have told her “I need this from you”, she can’t read his mind. At the same time, I believe she just assumed he already knew how she felt so she didn’t reassure him the way he wanted. Just poor communication.

He probably did all of this to feel a sense of control over a situation where he feels so vulnerable. But he was very inconsiderate, insecure, and self-centered. Him acting cruelly and blaming his emotions on Katie, who is also vulnerable, showed that he had no intent to be her teammate, and that this blowout wasn’t just a result of poor communication between him and Katie, but a result of Greg’s insecurities and selfishness.

He’s literally pouring his heart out to her and in my opinion she’s just still playing it close to the vest and treating it like a competition saying things like I love looking at you. This show has the potential to be very damaging to a contestants mental health, and when you get a bachelorette/bachelor who doesn’t give you much to work with emotionally, it takes a heavy toll on a person
This was very impressive on Greg's end. He read her like a book and showed a lot of grace and fortitude in what must have been one of the most disheartening events of his life. I'm proud of him and the way he handled himself.

That’s the problem with the show. I wish it ended with a relationship and not an engagement. If my husband was between me and another woman the second he got down on one knee…. I swear
It’s not unfair. He said a million times he recognized that he’s on the batchelorette. He’s allowed to express that the experience is hard. She as batchelorette should have reassured him that she really does feel for him or something and she’s coming off more as defensive than trying to understand 🤨
Everyone that takes issue with the”I just love looking at you comment: she didn’t just say that unprompted. He asked “What?” probably because of the way she was looking at him (which my entire family agrees was obviously with tons of love and affection) and she needed to think of something to say. It’s so close to when someone isn’t ready to say I love you but is thinking it. Someone asks what Greg did or ‘what you are thinking’ and you say something along the lines of “nothing, I just love spending time with you”, or “i love looking at you” or “ I’m so happy we met” etc. Her response to his feelings was the look she was giving but when asked to verbalize, went with that. I think it is so unfair of him to say that she wasn’t being real with him or herself with him because she so completely was.
Anyway, as I said in a response to a different comment, I still think they end up together given how she looked at the men tell all. She looked uncomfy and more aloof. I thought it was either that the show didn’t work out for her or that she was with someone who is insecure and jealous so she couldn’t appear to be giving any affection to the other guys, especially Andrew and Michael A. After seeing this, I think it was the latter, especially because I don’t think Greg would be able to handle watching the show back (seeing her relationships with other people) without getting insecure and questioning her feelings. I can’t fully blame him for that though because it’s definitely something I could see happening to me, but that’s one of the reasons I never plan on going on the Bachelor. This show just wasn’t a good fit for him.
Greg needs to heal. I don’t think he should have came on the show. He was and is still grieving his dad.
i love how conflicted (literally divided into 2 apart sides) the comments-therefore people's observation is. This interaction makes me think the attachment theory a lot. One party more in her head-rationale, calm and more thinking side (but still, ego protection). Looks very dismissive from outside. The other party fully in his heart/feelings- including his fears (therefore, also ego protection). Looks very anxious from outside. The eternal dilemma/conflict of the anxious and the dismissive; the feeler and the thinker; or the feeler feeling and full of fear of losing himself and the thinker trying not to feel, also full with fear of losing herself (but in a different way). The one who puts himself more out there-therefore risks losing himself more then resents this and runs away to punish the other..
I think Katie said “I just like looking at you” because she just didn’t know what to say after he professed his love and she was so set on not saying it back. I don’t blame her.
I feel like she could have said... It made me so happy when you just said that, my heart is so full, I'm overjoyed. I feel so blessed that you have opened up to me, I am so honored and maybe kissed him and hugged him.... Anything!!

Her eyes didn't even tear up a little bit. If she was really in love with him she would have shown some emotion. It's pretty obvious she was pretty much over him at this point and had settled on Blake.
Both of them were right. Greg wanted more vulnerability after he poured his heart out, but then he had his guard up the next day when he didn’t get it and was harsh with Katie which threw her off. I loved them together. I hope they get back together
I only saw the ending last night and I thought Greg was so dramatic but after seeing this I don’t blame him! He poured his heart out and her reaction was “🙂” I would be upset too. If you’re really in love that would not be your reaction. I also think she followed the rules too much, she could have responded better instead of I love looking at you who says that in that situation? He was literally in tears.
She literally said more after that, providing him with constant reassurance. Greg just wanted her to express that she loves him back or is falling for him. She’s not following any rules, she can do what she wants. She wants to save the “I love you” for the man she chooses and there’s nothing wrong with that. She wants it to be special.
I am a 100% with Greg. I totally understand now why he did what he did. I understand Katie and the role she has to fill as the Bachelorette but Greg's feelings are so raw and it's unfair that he receives 0 assurance. After that when he got mad cause she didn’t say anything back, she told him she told his family he’ll be there next week, that it’ll be worth it in the end, that he should trust the relationship. But he didn’t get what he wanted and left her. That is NOT love. That’s just a glimpse of what he’ll be like when he gets upset or they have an argument. He makes her feel bad and leaves. Even if she wasn’t in love with him, she doesn’t deserve to be gaslighted like that.

But trust me when I pour my heart out and a guy's response after I ask him what and he says I just like looking at you which happened with these guys is absolutely not done. It's legit for people to lose their calm sometimes it happens to all of us. From what I saw and got out of the scene between Katie and Greg was Katie still wasn't reassuring him and I don't mean tell him you love him but she could've trieddd. The scene at least doesn't show that. This is a show and he couldn't keep up with it. I just tried putting myself in Greg's place and thought about it and so my heart went out for him. He's bound to feel insecure if he's doing all this and wearing his heart on his sleeves and receive 0 reassurance it's not done.

He gave her ZERO empathy. It was all about him. He even interrupted her when she was trying to talk and told her what she was thinking and feeling. He was a man child. And you’re saying he poured his heart, it was all rolled into one. Talking about his father, losing a piece of him, how she FILLED the hole (no one can ever do that and to be dependent on someone for your completion is not healthy) so she did say in that moment she was listening and taking it all in cause it was deep. She looked at him with admiration and said “I love looking at you” not what he wanted but also has no respect for her boundaries when she’s told everyone and their family she doesn’t want to say she loves them until the end. And if you’re saying he wasn’t looking for that, then he must have been not paying attention all season when she gave him nothing but reassurance. And sure there were some poor management of the situation on his part and sure he could've done better instead of being so impulsive but I stand with him because I can see that he tried. That admiration means nothing after one pours out their heart just to know she admires him? AFTER SAYING I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU? He's definitely an emotional a guy, he is very much. His mind didn't think straight and how would it he says he's never been this happy in a long while and Katie did that for him now how can he be so normal knowing there are other guys involved and how would he know how her relationship with other guys has progressed?? Katie has to think of her other relationships sure that is her role but he has just one relationship to focus on and that's her. He wants a solid engagement at the end of this. That's where his head was at he thought it was a done deal which I know he could've done better with it but he didn't and she he slipped and focused on himself. At the end of this Katie will not lose anything because she has solid relationships with other men as well but Greg has everything to lose and in that scenario to receive no reassurance is tuff. And about filling that hole and everything Katie knows about it all and still brought him this far, the show has shown him to be the front runner from Day one, so it's on Katie to understand his emotions and feelings. After knowing everything and actually connecting on that void in him was how this relationship progressed in a way. She got him this far building up his hopes and in some ways it's apparent.

They say he has anger issues and gaslights his past girlfriends too. That one time he got mad at them or wearing a mini skirt and made them Uber back home which was an hour away from where they were. I think he is honest, and maybe the fact the she wasn't as emotional and responsive as he wanted her to be made him break up with her... He completely changed his body language after she said "I just love looking at you". When he had told her he was going to leave and she didn't stop him, proved to him in his mind that he wasn't the one and had to leave because he could no longer bear the pain.
