Installing Brother Toners

  • čas přidán 8. 07. 2015
  • NOTE: Not all toners for Brother laser jet printers will follow the same installation instructions as shown in the video, however these steps fit the majority of models.
    Replacing Brother toners can sometimes cause confusion as usually in order to replace the toner you must also remove the drum cartridge from the printer first, then release the toner from the drum. A lot of people are unaware that the toner and drum are separate units and will inadvertently dispose of the drum as well when they only need to replace the toner cartridge (on average a drum cartridge has a lifespan 10 times longer than that of a toner cartridge).
    Although of varying shapes and sizes, the majority of Brother follow the same steps, although the locking mechanism for the drum varies between the different printers, some simply slot into place and don't need to be clipped in.
    The model used in this demonstration is a Brother TN1070 toner cartridge for the HL-1110 mono laser printer.

    The printer was a bit complicated to hook up czcams.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 but it does the job very efficiently. I like the ink wells versus the ink cartages that cost an arm and a leg. It prints quickly and the quality is excellent. It shuts off when not in use, so you have to remember to turn it on. Overall, it exceeds my expectations. I'll update my review in a couple of months.

    Do i need to do this everytime the toner or ink goes out? Its kind of expensive...

    • @inkspot7016
      @inkspot7016  Před 5 lety +1

      Unfortunately yes it does. The toner is what actually makes the imprint on the paper, so when it runs on the cartridge needs to be replaced or you can't print. There are some tricks to try and prolong your toner cartridge though, the most common being to give the cartridge a GENTLE side to side shake when it is running low. This redistributes the toner powder inside and can squeeze a few more prints out. As for the cost of a new toner, I would recommend trying compatible cartridges a go. The high quality compatible/aftermarket cartridges do the exact same job and save you a heap of money at the same time.

      @Magic420Girl Před 5 lety

      @@inkspot7016 there are several videos on resetting the "toner low" message that yields more pages from the same cartridge and althought I haven't tried it, but I plan to becuase I did it with my old printer, some of the same videos that show you how to reset this function, will also show you how to refill the same cartridge with toner you buy on ebay, or maybe even amazon. Check it out, it really saves a heck-ova-lot of money. Better your buck in your back pocket!

    How often should I change my drum? I usually change my toners once per month.

    • @inkspot7016
      @inkspot7016  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi there, it depends on your printer model. For example the printer used in this video is the Brother HL-1110, a toner for this printer has a yield of 1000 pages and the drum has a yield of 10,000 pages. So the drum would usually need to be changed after about 9-10 toners. Drums tend to have a much longer life span than the toners, but your printer should give you a warning when it is starting to reach it's end of life and needs to be replaced.

    • @youngcombat
      @youngcombat Před 6 lety

      Really aprreciate your answer. I do have a Brother HL1212W, which is quite similar to the video's model, I suppose. Thanks!

    WHAT DID HE DO IN THE END SLIDING THAT SMALL KNOB?

    • @inkspot7016
      @inkspot7016  Před 7 lety +1

      The sliding part you are talking about is used to clean the corona wire on the drum. It normally sits to the left side of the drum unit and isn't touched during the process of changing your toner, but was accidentally moved filming this video so was pushed back at the end. You shouldn't have to worry about this when changing your toner cartridge over though.

    uhh how do you remove the drum?

    • @inkspot7016
      @inkspot7016  Před 6 lety +1

      It can be different depending on your printer model, but with most of the Brother mono printers, like the one used in the video, the drum will simply pull out. They usually have a handle part (the one in the video has a handle on the green plastic part) which you use to pull it out and slot it back in.
