    Brilliant! No chitchat, straight to the point and comprehensive. Saved me from buying and new printer. Thank you.

    Ok. I thought this was a bit crazy so I decided to do it with an old Drum. I used a lens polish for cleaning scratches out of headlights. I put lots of the abrasive on and polished until all the scratches were gone. I then cleaned it with alcohol 70% and KleenX. The results were better than I thought. While I do see a much lighter print now, the printing is more uniform and clean. Probably won't work a second time. But I have ordered a new Drum as a replacement if a second cleaning damages the Drum. So far, this actually work. I have an MFC 2700DW.

    Thanks for this video. I had a smudge on the drum and just used spray cleaner from the kitchen. It's all good. The disassembly instructions are great. Thanks.

    Hello Electrical Machine Engineering, U saved the day. I was about to go out to buy another laser printer as I tried cleaning the drum using only Iso-propyle alcohol. Your method of using a mild abrasive tooth-paste did the job. I had to clean the the drum using the tooth paste twice. ...Ean Aw ( NZ)13/10/21

    Thanks for the info and comments here. I used industrial alcohol (ethyl alcohol) dabbled on a small piece of cotton to wipe clean the entire drum, rotating it by turning the gear at the end of the drum and my printer is back to normal.

    The way to dismantle was easy following this video. I tried with toothpaste it was worse, then tried with just alcohol swabs which seemed even worse. Panicked but I realised that you just have to print a few more times until it's ok. Now the print is clean, thank you.

    you don't use anything abrasive like toothpaste you use rubbing alcohol and also never touch the drum. The oil on your finders will get all over it and cause more problems. I am a electronic technician.

      I wish I had read the comments and found yours before I followed this horrible example video. I found a few specks of crap stuck to the drum and cleaned it off then polished with toothpaste and some tissue paper afterwards, following the video… Then I put it all back together and did a test print out… And it’s absolutely horrible! Far worse than how it was before which just had a few specks on the page… I’ll have to try again with rubbing alcohol to see if that works…

    Toothpaste is abrasive and will damage the drum. Use de-ionized water and a lint free cloth to clean everything. Also, use gloves. :D

    • @paulsz6194
      @paulsz6194 Před rokem +1

      But it also actually works as a Polish, to remove some of the light surfwce wear on the drum. Brass Polish/ cleaner works far better than toothpaste!

  • @LukaLatinovic

    My OPC drum is green and this one is black, so I painted my drum in black car paint. Now it works perfectly. There's another solution. Just leave the drum out of printer and you will never experience faded image, stains or smeared toner...no image at all. Result is the same.

    • @paulsz6194
      @paulsz6194 Před rokem +1

    I, after cleaning this drum (that part from glass) still have some "spiders" on the printed paper, i dont know how people clean it, but there is allways some dust grain or any small object sitting on the drum when i put it back into the printer, is there any solution on that? All those tiny bits of dust are visible on the print.

    Guys, this must be an April's fools joke right? The video is cut just before turning over the paper haha. I loved one guy's comment who said to rub your nose agains it to make it oily - I imagine I would get a black nose haha. This video is yseful to learn how to dismantle it though, so thanks to the autor for that. Brother has instructions on how to clean the drum. Just search for 'brother printer smudge'.
