  • Just how well does the new iFootage TC3B carbon fibre travel tripod fare against the Ulanzi & Coman Zero and the Peak Design Travel Tripod? Join me as I head out on a beautiful summer's day in Australia to photograph my 981 Porsche Boxster in the Yarra Valley wine district while using the iFootage TC3B as my video camera tripod.

    Thanks for another great video! Whilst nowhere near the quality of the ones you’re using, I’m still rocking my tripod from when Dick Smiths closed down. One of the best purchases I made.

    I have the zero, as I couldn't justify the cost of the Peak Design (nearly double the price). The lack of Arca Swiss compatibility isn't an issue, I simply bought a compatible quick-release clamp and fitted it to one of the F38 plates. It adds about half an inch of height and is rock solid. As far as the centre column is concerned, that can be removed from the zero, so it'll go just as low as the TC3B. I also have the Ulanzi U190 head. It has the same fluid motion as the iFootage head, is Arca Swiss compatible and the handle is nice and easy to remove and refit on either side of the head.
    All that said, if I was in the market for a light-weight travel tripod now, I'd seriously consider the TC3B.

      That's a good idea re the clamp on the F38. I really like the Zero - I just don't know why they decided to be different with their clamp size. The U-190 head looks good. Thanks for watching. 🙂

      @@peterfritzphoto I agree. It’s only a few millimeters difference. Maybe they’re like the mob I work for, more interested in saving a few bucks than practically. That said Ulanzi’s stuff is mostly quite innovative.

    • @peterfritzphoto
      @peterfritzphoto  Před 6 měsíci

      @@vk4vsp I suspect they’re trying to carve out their own proprietary clamp/bracket size (like Manfrotto), but it just pisses people off.

    Good one Peter . I should click the notification button I guess . Bit late getting to this offering but you did great !
    I went the tc 7 - sturdy option for me ; )

      Thanks, Chris. Yep, I reckon the TC7 is the right choice. I probably should have bought that one instead of the TC9.

    I ended up with the Ulanzi but I didn't get the Zero f38, I got the Zero Y which is nearly the same, but it's the traditional arca swiss version of that head since I use L brackets on my cameras. I paid $230 on their website with a promo code. So far, pretty happy with mine!

    Nicely done review! I think I would prefer the Peak Design. At least it fits in your car 😂 Funny, I have a video coming out next week on tripod feet.

    The overall build and QC, in comparison to the other products from Ifootage is far superior. This product however seems like it was rushed out from the same Chinese facility to fill in the “travel tripod” niche as quick as possible. Needless to say I bought one because I originally thought it may be one off issue, but it’s not. The issues mentioned in the video pertains to the exact item I just received. Unless you are a paid reviewer or don’t mind getting a poorly constructed item for your money, don’t waste it here on this tripod.

    • @peterfritzphoto
      @peterfritzphoto  Před 6 měsíci

      I agree (but I think you meant to say ‘inferior’). I hope they inject this tripod with the same quality of their other products when they release version two.

    Not a fan of tripods without a centre column, that micro height adjustment is just needed sometimes

    The Ulanzi Zero comes in two flavors... the F38 uses their own proprietary quick release system. But the Zero Y comes with a standard arca swiss compatible mount. So let's not pretend that the Ulanzi isn't arca swiss compatible.

    Think you reviewed the wrong Ulanzi Coman Zero tripod.... there is the Zero Y, that head will mount an arca plate. That is the tripod you should have looked at. As i use a lot L-Plates on my camera's, i don't want to be bothered carrying those useless F38 plates. So i choose that one to be my travel companion. Cheers🤣

      @peterfritzphoto  Před 5 měsíci

      Yep… unfortunately, that’s the one I had. That issue aside, it’s a lovely tripod.
