My only interaction with the Angels. I was on a Motorcycle run in Nor Cal in the 90's. I was rolling joints on a picnic table at our camp site and an older Angel approached me about buying some weed. I just handed him 5-6 joints and said have a good time No Charge. He shook my hand and I didn't see him again until the following morning when he showed up with 2 giant plates of breakfast for me and my girlfriend. Sometimes it pays to be a nice guy.

As a kid in San Diego maybe nine or ten years old walking back from a little corner store with vinegar to dye Easter eggs a man came behind me and grabbed me by the neck. A Hells Angel walked out of a little bungalow and said you let go of that little girl. To this day thank that Hell's angel. My husband and I went to NYC about 15 years ago. It was September 11 and we were shopping across from where the twin towers were. The area was still under re-construction. We heard the loudest engine noise, and then a steady stream of bikers (around 100 of them) pulled up and stopped. The lead biker held up his hand to prompt the group to rev their engine simultaneously . We spoke to a hotel concierge who told us the bikers come every year to honour those who perished in 9/11. We will always remember this.

There are so many ex military in the biker clubs these days, definitely a rise in actual biker clubs that are all ex military.
They get a bum reputation but look at groups such as bikers against bullies and so on. In Scotland we have a ride out called the kilt ride, it raises money for charity, then there is thunder in the glen which started off with Harley riders and that's grown over the years. No doubt you can find both on here.

We were eating at restaurant in Myrtle Beach (SC) a few years ago and there was a group of Hell’s Angels in there. On of the guys was a big older feller with a big long white beard and my daughter (4 years old) kept looking and pointing at him saying “daddy, he looks like Santa Claus”. I kept telling her “it’s not nice to stare and point baby” I DID NOT want to piss them off! Well he caught on to her pointing and he told us to come on over. He picked her up and put her on his knee and asked “have you been a good girl this year?” We ended up talking for 15 mins and they were the nicest people I encountered that week. They were super nice and respectful.

The only Hell’s Angels I’ve ever encountered in person were at my local bagel shop. Two of them, each 6’5 or 6’6 tall, were sitting at a table on a very busy Saturday. A small elderly woman placed her order and, having no open tables, stood off to the side. The two HA’s stood up and offered her their table. One even pulled the chair out for her. Wouldn’t want to cross them, but there are definitely worse people in society than HA’s.

While I recognize that they’re outlaws, any HA that I’ve ever met in person has always been very kind and respectful. A group of 6 or 7 of them stopped at the same gas station I was stopped at with my 9yr old daughter last summer in the middle of nowhere Northern Ontario. I went into the bathroom and told her she could go pick out some road trip snacks. I came out of the bathroom and 4 of them were inside and were chatting with her, 2 of them standing by the door. It was very clear that they were looking out for the pretty little blonde haired, blue eyed young lady who they only saw alone in the gas station when they first walked in. There was no threat, just very polite men who were making sure she stayed safe while her mom did her business. They let us check out first, and then opened the door for us to leave. I’ll tell ya one thing…I’ve walked past groups of men and felt very uncomfortable but standing in that building with a bunch of bikers…l knew my daughter and I couldn’t be in a safer environment than that moment!

The exhaust pipe did run a little hot next to the skin. My dad had a beautiful Harley-Davidson and would take my mom every so often to Calaveras County in California for the weekend. At night, my dad would pull over and unroll their sleeping bags. One night, a group of Hells Angels pulled over to get some rest. They invited my mom and dad to sit in a circle with them out in an open field. Back then, there were so many brilliant stars in the night sky. Not to soon after the circle was formed, a joint was lit and passed around for all to share. My mom would laugh every time she told the story as she had never participated in such an activity before! Some of the top leaders in the SS were Jewish, and they highly respected ALL races. A black Olympian at the time has testimony about how the Germans would cheer the loudest for him during the tournament; and when he was invited to meet Hitler afterwards, he was treated with nothing but the upmost respect, and the Germans would all stop him in the street to congratulate him. And you could leave your door unlocked in front of your house." I completely agree with him, and would say it was the same in the 1960s as well. @WriterandPhotographer. That might be partially true but you still get a lot of bad behavior from 1% clubs even tho this behavior is among themselves. Humility is not among their traits and our kids need to have humility in order to forgive others that have offended us.

Soft white underbelly is one of my favorite CZcams sites. Through this we are permitted to learn things about people from all walks of life. Regardless of what the people have done they all have a soul. They were once a child and somebody loves them regardless. Thanks, Mark for reaching out to the people and being bold enough to ask the questions you do.

Great content Mark and I've watched many other vids you have posted and since subbed to your channel. This is what the ATF, DEA, and every other agency/bureau have drilled it into peoples minds that all MCs are "gangs". Thank you Flash for sitting down with Mark to share a snippet of your decades long experience and journey with the HA, and for politely correcting Mark on the HA not being a "gang".

Great interview gents. I've met more than one member in my life and was always treated with respect. The media has vilified the club to make people afraid of men who live by a strict code of brotherhood. I'd trust an Angel far more than any cop who's motive is power over us civilians. If our neighbourhoods had an Angel living amongst us we'd be far safer than we are today. That's a fact.. Blessed are those who protect the women and children.. Much love and respect to you Flash.. What a great interview....his recollection of the Altamont concert is intense and real....an older cousin of mine around the same age as this guy was a Hells Angel in Hayward.....He was a badass and so kind. He taught me how to fist-fight when I was like 9-10 years old, in order to defend myself from bullies in our hood in San Leandro. He taught me how to use/shoot guns. He was such a big influence in my life during those years. Him and his Hells Angels buddies, along with Sonny Barger, would drink at the bar my dad tended at in San Leandro. Sadly, my cousin is now gone. But that generation of the Hells Angels were good guys for sure.

I was tending bar in the town where I lived, and about 30 Hell's Angels parked out front and became my customers for the day. The kitchen was already closed but the main dude asked me if one of the biker women could cook for them and they'd still pay. Believe me, I wasn't going to tell the Hell's Angel's no. My husband owned the Pool Room down the street and came in after he closed. It had started to rain...hard. the head biker, who did not drink btw, asked me if there was a motel or someplace they could crash for the night. My husband told him that they could stay in the pool room and could help themselves to the chips and pop and just to lock it up in the morning. The next morning, my husband and I went to the pool room to ask them all to breakfast at our house but they were already gone. They left it spotless with $500 and a note which I still have. It said "Thank you so very much for your hospitality. If you ever come to Chicago, you will have our protection. And we made you honorary members of the Chicago Hell's Angels."
