@@CbsOmegaOmniX The writer/director stated in the commentary that he wanted to keep his precise relationship to the brothers up to the fans' imaginations. He offered up uncle and father as possible options. Even though the wikis state he's the same character, they were written by third parties and that never seemed to be Declan O'Brien's intention - it wouldn't make much sense if it was considering Doug Bradley looks and sounds nothing like the guy at the gas station and this takes place in Autumn 2003. I expect what happened is the writer forgot or didn't hear the reveal in Wrong Turn 2 that the old guy is the brothers' dad, so the canon explanation must be that he's related in some other way. On a side note, the doctor in the beginning of Wrong Turn 4 says the brothers were found standing over the cannibalised remains of what he thinks were their parents and that film was written by the same guy. Even though that can't be canonically true, it shows that Declan O'Brien probably doesn't even believe himself that Maynard is the boys' father.
@@IsaacLawrenceFilms I know I am way late and you will possibly never see this but eeeeh. Honestly continuity isn’t this series strong suite in fact 4-6 really butchered the back story and the continuity.
I feel like Declan O’Brien completely changed the behavior of the cannibals. In the first couple movies, the kills were creative but quick, it was like punishment for entering their territory, and who they killed acted as their food.
It didn’t make sense that in this one, they tortured for the sake of torture and didn’t do anything with the bodies afterward, which they’d usually do to prepare them for food.
This is the "fuck this movie" we've been waiting for, let's be honest. I have a feeling we'll get another one after this too
As a makeup artist, the effects in this movie disgust me. And not in a good way lol. I was doing better stuff with glue and tissues as a kid. This movie is trash.
Lmaoo the fact that this set is literally a back lot and they have the studio trucks blocking off the streets. The budget of this movie honestly was $20 and a TV dinner

9:30 - I know, right? That was a huge minus to this movie. It was just too mean-spirited even for a slasher flick. The sheriff lady being put in that position, the blind girl getting caught by the bad guys anyway as an ending, all that.
Just admit it everyone, we are all here just to watch Cody suffer through WT5 and WT6. And the worst one is about to come. And Cody, would be fun to see your reviews of I Spit On Your Grave movies, since you're almost done with WT.

WT6 is the dumbest and really bad, but I hate this one the most, it's just so mean spirited that I can't have fun with it
I agree, the movies are supposed to be entertaining and you're supposed to treat them like a dark comedy, but that last 20 minutes is just so mean-spirited and awful that it doesn't match the tone of what they were going for. This is the worst Wrong Turn movie by far.
Doug Bradley starring in this movie reminds me that you still haven't reviewed the Hellraiser series yet, Cody...

This is one of the most mean spirited movies I’ve ever seen in my life. Not fun whatsoever and incredibly annoying, not to mention the sets here are so cheap, they can pass for an R rated shitty episode of WandaVision because it looks like a sitcom. Great review as always!
I definitely agree that the majority of the third act is pure cruelty and not in the fun sense. Obviously the villains have to survive for the timeline to be semi-coherent (until the sixth one utterly rapes it), but taking the final girl and forcing you to imagine the horrible things they're going to do to her after she's already suffered through that ordeal and lost her eyes, that just ain't it.
This director has zero talent obviously and just thinks any kind of misery is gold. Also probably thought everyone would just be stoked seeing Doug Bradley who’s character seemed to be given the totally unearned anti-hero treatment.
When that one kill happened to the girl with her getting stabbed in the stomach and instead of that being it she ended up getting her disemboweled intensines fed to her...definitely felt the mean-spiritedness kick up a HEAVY amount

After that, a boy is kidnapped, immobilized through the hobbling of his ankles, and thrown out into the street to be run over by a tow truck, and a guy is stuffed into a barrel to be burned alive. This is all BEFORE the sadistic final act that Cody describes.
I haven't seen this movie, but already I can tell that Seed Of Chucky is a more worthwhile time.

I just watched this movie today, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way about the last 20-25 minutes of the film. I get that horror is obviously a dark genre. But the last 20-25 minutes are so unnecessarily dark that, as Cody said, it almost makes you feel shitty to be a horror fan.
I think I'm more irritated now than traumatized I was first watching the way the sheriff was forced to die.
For me, it was really the majority of the movie's runtime. Over the course of the film, a girl is eviscerated and fed her own intestines; a boy is kidnapped, has his ankles broken and, helpless to move, is thrown in the middle of the street to be run over by a tow truck; a guy is stuffed into a barrel and placed over a fire; and those are just a few of the movie's unpleasantly sadistic kills prior to the last act.
i watched this movie when i was in elementary school, and i thought it was funny.. never heard anyone take it serious enough to say theyre crossing the line of being too dark
Whining about kills in a horror movie. SMH
I don't get how they did Friday the 13th in the 80s for not even a million dollars and it still looks better than this movie.

I feel more comfortable watching people react to bad movies than watching them.
My feelings going into the third act were the exact same. despite how bad the movie was I found myself actually feeling bad for the two girls and felt wrong for watching it LOL I never voiced that but it's funny that you said the exact same thing. Glad I wasn't the only one.

If you've watched all the Wrong Turns, during the Prequel Trilogy none of the survivors well, survive lol. Guess it's because 'Old Timer' and Three Finger and his family were all alive in the first two films. But the endings could of been much better.

You're not rooting for most in any horror film yet for someone I didn't know much about I sure as hell didn't wanna think about her being raped after all of this when it's not a happy ending/rape revenge story to tell. Just morbid. I'll watch Jeepers Creepers if I wanna be sad about a death.

I don't know why, but I always seem to get a more cathartic reaction from smaller horror/genre movies, even if they're objectively bad/cheesy.

Just listening to this review reminded me of how angry I was after watching this movie. 6 is also terrible, but at least it didn’t ruin the rest of my night lol. There’s enough “ okay what in the damn hell is happening now” moments to make it the very least bit entertaining.

It's actually insane how the plot of this movie revolves around a music festival yet you NEVER even get to see the festival itself apart from one scene when you see a cop standing beside a truck

As screwed up as the 6th movie is, the ending of this one I will say makes it the worse movie. I get in some movies the bad guys win (especially in prequals), but slashers are about watching the bad characters get killed and rooting for the one or two good characters. Like you said that ending where the decent girl gets blinded and then escapes into the truck of the cannibals is just so depressing it's like the movie is sticking the middle finger in your face.

@Expert Replique There's a good chance of that lol. Look I give movies the benefit of the doubt, but Wrong Turn 5 has a lot of bad acting, intense sex, and a very depressing ending, it's a dark movie some but not many can appreciate. But if you like it, you like it.

This one is by far the worst of the bunch. I still have 6 and the reboot left so I hope they aren't worse than this one. About the ending, well (if I were him) I would have left the shotgun shells out of the shotgun so she still has hope for a quick death, but since it's empty she has no choice but to burn alive. He doesn't seem the type to be doing any favors.
Okay, so as you have reviewed these movies I have realized that I have seen the middle ones (3, 4, 5) and had COMPLETELY blocked them out. I remembered that I had seen one in snow and I remembered there being one involving a jail cell, but that was all I remembered about them. My mind has taken away the bad things apparently, lol.
One more, Cody, you can do it! I just feel like you're gonna get to the new one and will have put yourself through these for no good reason other than hilarious content based on your reactions (because I have laughed so hard). I can't imagine there is going to be any continuity in this new one that made these 5 necessary lol

Yeah that ending for 5 (and of course the protagonists are so damn stupid) is horrible, supposedly the director was planning on having one more prequel using a tormented blind Lita as the main character but that film never saw the light of day and he was let go for some reason so yeah what Maynard said he would do is basically what happens to the poor girl.

@@Robalexe uh the first 2 deserve respect, that alone should be enough for people to speak highly of hellraiser. Doug Bradley is an icon as pinhead, Clive is a horror genius. I never here people talking about that, no it's always how shitty the rest of them are, that's all I here I'm sick of it. People should remember hellraiser for the first two films and give respect where it's due. But that won't happen.

I decided to go through this series after all these years. I bought the first one years back and thought it was decent. I know have 3 and 4, as well. Watched 4 last night expecting it to be garbage, but kinda enjoyed it. Was very bloody, and mostly practical effects. I agree with what you mean about the sadistic parts, at times a little too much for me.
I've only watched 1-4 (2 is my fave) & I refuse to watch 5+6

Nice new intro and outro, Cody! 🤘 As for the movie, i could never figure out how was that guy able to gouge out Lita's eyes (i think that's her name) when she held him at gun point! I mean, he is an experienced murderer in the movie, but come on... And later on she says "oh God i'm so stupid!" and when i was watching it i was like... "yes you are, hun".
Review House Of Wax (2005) 🙏🏻 it’s a pretty decent, fun slasher, it’s not groundbreaking by any means but I still had a good time with it
