  • “Russia’s intent has never been matched by it’s capabilities. And that’s basically what’s saved us.”
Putin’s close circle’s “incompetence” is the “saving grace” that could prevent his war with Ukraine spilling over, says former MI6 officer Christopher Steele.

Is it because the man on your TV told you to ? What about the other conflicts in the world that western nations don’t even report let alone support ? What about the monstrous actions of other so called leaders on their own people that also is not reported ? What’s the point of being a NATO member if you can pick and choose who you support (they don’t need to be a member) ? Is the opposite true ? Do you think only western countries should be able to invade other countries (not neighbouring countries but those thousand of miles away) ? Should only western countries invade other counties air space and bomb citizens of that country in their homes?
I’d love to hear your reasoning.

Steele is right that in the future, after Russia loses the Ukraine war and because China is not going to change regardless of the war, Russia eventually will have to choose between being a European country partly in Asia, and liberalize, or being an Asian continental country partly in Europe, and be China's vassal. The Russian people would choose the former, but they would be divided in that choice, because many of Russia's people proudly reject Europe's values. But Russia's rulers would choose the latter, and would be united in that choice, and they tend to get their way over the people's will. There is no kleptocracy in the former, only in the latter.

The Ukrainian commander responsible for the northeastern Kharkiv frontline has been replaced after Russia launched a surprise offensive, a military spokesperson said on Monday.
Nazar Voloshyn told RBC-Ukraine media that the decision to appoint Brigadier General Mykhailo Drapatyi to the position was taken on May 11. He gave no reason for the decision.
It comes amid reports that Ukrainian defences were “built in the wrong place” to halt Russia’s Kharkiv offensive.

Whether Russia becomes a vessel state of China or not, is not as important as Russia's abandonment of Siberia, east of the Ural Mountains. This area was not conquered by Catherine the Great but simply occupied without opposition from primitive native peoples. Until Czar Alexander III and Nicolas II constructed the TransSiberian Railroad in the late 19th century, access and control of Siberia was next to impossible. While the Soviet Union built a few, isolated science-cities along with prisoner gulags, Siberia remains an empty wilderness ready for unchallenged Chinese expansion and exploitation. With Russia now preoccupied with Ukraine and NATO, a land rush and squatter's rights could take hold, long before territorial claims by the PRC. Native minorities are absorbed like the Tibetans and the world ignores the change.
