Sanctuary ended as their label tried to force them into playing Grunge. Pretty much the singer Warrel Dane, Jim Sheppard and Jeff Loomis jumped ship and formed Nevermore. And that band lasted until 2011. In fighting occurred. The band disbanded but Warrel and Jeff came back or never left depending on who's telling the story. THere were hopes of a reunion but that stopped fast with the death of Warrel.
Great song from a great band.

Label saw the grunge push, the guitarist wanted to go in that direction and Warrel/Jim weren't interested, so that put an end to Sanctuary. Jeff Loomis was already around as he was going to be a 2nd recording guitarist and future tour member.
They formed Nevermore shortly after...and the rest is history.
This particular song wasn't written with exposure in mind. Warrel had a friend whose son committed suicide & he knew nothing about the details. He wrote the song and when the friend heard it, they were in shock because Warrel had unknowingly hit on specific details with his lyrics, his explanation was that he had an overwhelming feeling about it.

I saw Nevermore live in Missouri during the enemies of reality tour. I grasped his hand when he reached out during I Voyager "take my hand and watch in wonder..."

Great Band and Tune. I Like Loomis playing much better in this band than any other.

Worrell,Jim Sheppard, and the guitarist Jeff loomis left and formed Nevermore I believe they recorded the first sanctuary album with Dave mustaine and we’re going to use him again but something happened and it was taking to long so they got another producer and made the record and I don’t think Dave was happy about it

I got muddled and was confusing them with Nothing More....I was like, "Ummmmm....what?????" I don't recall ever hearing of these guys and the song was a solid "OK" for me.....it had its ebbs and flows......

  • @TrevyTrev-andTheFunkyPets

Not a really fan ( they were great) but I dug this. Catchy. ☕️🫖 . Sounds like maybe it was an attempt to get some radio play like Queensryke had.
