    My question is, is it worth buying and paying to have set up and get new pick ups?

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 Před rokem

      Yeah I am thinking of buying it since I also want a PRS 6 string guitar and this Subzero is great for having an extra cheaper 7 string. I would switch out the bridge pickup on this one for another passive humbucker with higher output. Like a Seymour Duncan Nazgul, Duncan Invader or Duncan Black Winter. The Dimarzio Super Distortion 7 is also a great pickup that costs under 100$. I have played all these pickups on 6 stringed guitars, great for metal and other stuff too, all above mentioned sounds better than most active pickups in my opinion. If you want tips on what pickup to match any of them in the neck position I will be glad to help. You can always start with the pickup that comes with the guitar and feel it out, maybe you are happy with it as it is.

    kapvr Hey man, how would you describe the thickness of the neck ? Is it like Ibanez Wizard 2 thin or thicker like maybe a Wizard 3 or ESP guitar neck ? Thanks in advance and keep on rocking in the the "free" world :)

    • @kapvr
      @kapvr  Před rokem +1

      Yooo man! It has ibanez wizard neck vibe imo.

      @@kapvr Great stuff, I have an 8 string Schecter Demon with Duncan design pickups so this 7 string will be perfect for the price just to play some 7 string. I have never played a guitar with fanned frets before however. Did it take some time getting used to ?

    • @kapvr
      @kapvr  Před rokem

      @@mathias6423 I was scared about fanned frets, but it was super easy to learn, something about 15 minutes

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 Před rokem

      @@kapvr OK, nice. I see however that you are sitting down playing more in a classical way with the guitar neck and head upwards, tilting the guitar up. I am playing sitting with the guitar neck and head out to the side, more in a horizontal angle, It looks like that might be a slightly more uncomfortable angle for the hand to play on fanned frets :/
      I will need to go and try it, I am also looking at a Jackson JS22-7, It is cheap as your Subzero but with standard frets and 26.5" scale instead of many other 7 strings that have 25.5" scale (almost all of the Ibanez for instance) so that could be a good option aswell.

      They did tune up and stay in tune fine but i just prefer thicker strings. Just need to lower the bridge pick up a bit. Also that's a 6-string pack?
