as someone who had no idea what this show was about or what is was going to be like, this scene CAUGHT ME WAY OFF GUARD. So many emotions in the span of 10 minutes.
Saddest part in all of it is: Jinx is OBJECTIVELY to blame. They would have escape should she not have come. They didnt go for the cliche where the runt ends up saving everyone
I mean, without her explosions the mutant would have chased them down and killed them easily, in a cruel twist, killing two of her friends and makimg her dad a mutant saved her sister, without that mistake it's very likely all of them would have died as they tried to run from a gang with a monster.
The cool thing about the scene is that while it is tragically showing that if powder didn't show up they would have escaped but she did set Silcos plans back by inadvertently killing the scientist and destroying a lot of their supply.
@@Doge-bz3vj everyone but not Vi cuz they fred Valder, but Vi couldn't walk so monster almost got her. She wouldn't make it past monster. So with actions of Jinx Vi would be alive and everyone dead, and if she wouldn't intervene monster would've kill her but not others
This show and this scene are a fucking beautifully executed example of the butterfly effect man. I still can't get over how well this concept was portrayed in this show.
The worst part is that the plan wasn't falling apart. It was WORKING. Vi had separated Deckard from the group long enough for Milo to finish breaking Vander out of his cuffs. Clagger had gotten them a way out of the room. The plan hadn't been perfect, but the group had adapted. Then the monkey bomb was released, and the fates of all in the room were sealed.
Goddamn, they really had to repeat the explosions multiple times since just one shot probably isnt enough to show how much of a disaster and a tragedy this scene was.
Vi: That escalated quickly... I mean that really got out of hand fast. Jinx: I killed a few guys! Vi: Yeah I've been meaning to talk to you about that.
normally when people say "all your fault" it is an emotionally laden statement, you need someone to be mad at because the only other option is to break down and cry. this one though, this one is absolutely true, sorry to say.
this scene reminded me alot of that kill scene from tarantino's death proof, showing us exactly what happens in each explosion, and i love the details.
The monkey bomb is three crystals, one in the trigger, two inside. When the first crystal exploded, it made the other two flying. While the first crystal killed the guard and absorbed Deckard in the explosion smoke, the second crystal flew to the lab floor damaging the scientist and the third crystal flew through the door wall to celling killing the boys.
The only thing I can probably say that caused this tragedy in regards to Powder is that she overdid it with the stones. She should’ve known that one would’ve been enough to distract or even kill the intended targets instead she overloads her bomb with all the stones she had. Other than that I can’t really fault her for anything else. She didn’t know that the gang were actually getting out since all she saw was her sister crawling away and closing the door with the monster smashing into it. In her mind if she didn’t send out that bomb her friends, sister and father figure were going to die. It managed to overpower the two hardest hitters in the group aside from MVP Clagger and I’m pretty sure it can make mince meat out of him. So yeah that’s the only fault I have with that scene and the only thing that I can say Powder messed up on.
Add to that she managed to distract Deckard long enough for them to free Vander and break the wall. If her bomb didn't work, it would actually had been enough.
I also think she shouldn't have come in the first place. And yeah, I really hated it, when she put lots of stones in that monkey since 1 is enough, she should know that it makes the explosion uncontrollable. But on the same point she is very young, so it's forgiveable. But what I REALLY CAN'T FORGIVE her for, is, that she was super happy about her monkey working, when she clearly experienced how big that explosion was and how it destroyed the whole faculty with everyone in it. Yet she wasn't even worried 1 bit about the well being of her family.
@@Bedrock_Blaster Jinx thought they survived up until she saw the bloody goggles. her only mistake was more then one ball. Honestly though with her limited knowledge and shaky mental state at the time... well it understandable
Never in my life I thought a 5 seconds loop would made me cry and even be my top 5 saddest moments in tv shows of a game And yes this whole explosion is just 5 seconds … but looped into 1:25 seconds… shows us different angles Best loop in history
It was a single explosion shown from 3 different perspective... The Monkey clap exploded the crystal in between which sent the 2 crystals inside the Monkey in 2 different directions which are shown from 2 different perspective... Do you think the toy would have survived the first blast to clap 2 more times?
@@P-DITCH Not clear yet but it would make sense. As far as we know according to WW lore singed was the one who transformed him so it would make sense for singed to be the scientist as he was expert of that chemical.
Seeing that absolutely elated look of “I did it! I FINALLY DID IT!” on Powder’s face as a city-block destroying explosive goes off is sad on a level beyond words. Vander was really onto something with his stance on change through violence. It teaches the kids the best way to what you want is through hurting people.
Yeah I think it's mean to represent a moment of change in their characters. Silco was baptized in water and arose a different man. Powder was baptised in her explosion, arose as Jinx.
My issue with powder is not that she did something, it's the fact that she loaded her bomb with something that literally blew up a building a few days ago, tripled the amount, threw it in the middle of the enemy and her friends and expected everything to be A ok
Lmao bro no one mentions this. Like I get she’s a kid but she’s an incredibly stupid one. Especially someone who’s supposedly a tech whiz who’s been working on all her bombs for a while. She fr decided that the way she’d save her family was by sending a device with 3x the explosive power of something that destroyed a building in the general direction of her family. And then when it blows everything up she’s just like “Vi my monkey bombs worked!” There were always hints of Powder being crazy from the start.
The point of the character, at this point in time, was that she was clearly feeling left out and wanted to gain a sense of belonging to the in-group, and she was desperate enough that it clouded the practicalities of the situation and Vi's warning her to stay home.
You tell how many explosions there are from the position of the monkeys crank, there's only one from the monkey, (it's replaying the same clip repeatedly of the one explosion) the monkey presumably gets totally destroyed and the other two crystals go flying, one flies into the room with the kids and explodes on the ceiling and the other falls way below and explodes, lighting the chemicals on fire causing a 4th chemical explosion
In most of the shows, powder would have saved everyone, but here, she reduces a building to ashes and hurts both her family and her enemies. And it’s realistic, when you give a nine-year-old girl extremely powerful explosives, it can only end badly
Now keep in mind that Jinx winds up a monkey toy in the "Get Jinxed" music video that is continually intercut with the rest of the footage - and shows up at the end of her dream as a giant enemy.
Have you noticed how messed up Powder has to be to cheer of the explosion she has caused? I know, she thought her actions have saved her familiy, but still, she's in awe with the wanton destruction she enacted. That girl was messed up way before becoming Jinx.
Well that explosion did harm to both sides. It was a MASSIVE double edged sword although you could argue that Silco's side had more to gain than Vander's because of Jinx being a new addition to Silco's team.
Seeing this scene again. Jinx actually did the right thing. Yes vender was free and the wall was broken but the monster was also about to come in. The gang wouldn't have had a chance of winning. In a "war" you take huge risks and try new methods just like Jinx did. She used all of her bombs even though she didn't know that one was enough. But she saved her sister. If Jinx wasn't there all of them would have been dead. There was no chance for surviving becouse the enemies had an advance.
Just the monkey on it's own as a distraction would have bought them enough time to escape. _One_ crystal instead of three might have been a small enough explosion to do what she wanted without killing her family. Given Powder's sharpshooting skills displayed earlier, if she'd had a gun instead of a bomb, she might have been able to kill the shimmer-mutant without endangering her family. It was _so close_ Ah, what could have been.
What I don't understand is this. Powder realized how destructive those crystals are by remembering that day in the penthouse, that one crystal caused so much destruction. Yet she puts ALL 3 of them in the toy when she knew that her family was right next to the door the monkey was going to explode at. One of those crystals would have been more then enough and probably all it would have done was knock everyone on their ass including the mutant, giving them a chance to escape. AND she even at this age was smart enough to understand how bombs work, so why did she put all three crystals in the damn monkey? I don't get it.
She probably thought one stone wouldn't be enough considering the guy was damn near mutated those bombs barley did anything to him regardless so her thinking multiple would've done the trick is normal mistake for a child
She is a kid, she is in the heat of the moment, she doesn't know everything that has just happen. She only know that her family is in danger and that she has the mean to stop the danger
And the fucked up thing, is that she's just so happy, even as she's falling. Something that she tried _actually worked_ and she, as far as she knows, just saved her family from a big scary monster. I suppose that's what makes it a tragedy.
I had to come back and watch this again after seeing Necrit's video just to listen for the Brackern scream during Marcus's part on the docks. Fun fact... yes you do hear screeching if you listen for it.
It’s just funny because looking back, I thought that this would be the moment in most media where the underdog character whose called a “screw-up” would finally prove themselves. Well, then call this a perfect subversion. Never would I think it would impact the plot heavily.
Okay I love this scene, but FALL DAMAGE IS A THING. I seriously thought brain injury was gonna be the cause of her freaking insanity since she fell on her head from like 50 ft. but it's never addressed. 1:42 and 2:20 show the dramatic shots. Literally one of my only issues with the whole show.
I realized the metal pole that impaled mylo was the metal pole that claggor used to break the wall evidenced by 2:06 when he was impaled the metal pole was no where to be found
Honestly Vi should have let Jinx join the rescue party. It's better to bring a young kid along so you could keep an eye on their actions instead of just hoping they'll follow your instructions, especially when the circumstances are that your life lately is going downhill and the fact that your dad just got kidnapped. Leaving someone unstable like that alone is more likely to backfire when you consider that these kids usually don't listen to instruction from their elders anyway
You know what's sadder than knowing had Powder not show up, her friends would have lived? She could have been the right amount of usefulness had she only used one crystal. That one crystal did enough damage to Silco's goons and operation. But she loaded it with more inside the monkey, which all that did was create a cluster bomb and that's how her 2 friends immediately died.
Respect to Deckard as a Shimmerite. Dude effortlessly dispatched Vi, tanked an overcharged Monkey Bomb square in the face, and even while weakened was well on his way to beating Vander. I like it when minor villains are badass. Poor kid was given bad cards but he was a formidable Shimmerite.
@@nurval1093 She killed two, no? The two boys, Milo and the other one (can't remember his name). Dude in the laboratory beneath them survives and the woman with the arm torn off survives too
A year later and this is still the most heart-breaking scene in recent media I can think of. She just wanted to help, and killed almost her entire family, and is like 12. And didn't know, until confronted with evidence. It's gut wrenching stuff. Rest in peace, Vander, Mylo, etc.

as someone who had no idea what this show was about or what is was going to be like, this scene CAUGHT ME WAY OFF GUARD. So many emotions in the span of 10 minutes.
Saddest part in all of it is: Jinx is OBJECTIVELY to blame. They would have escape should she not have come. They didnt go for the cliche where the runt ends up saving everyone
No Deckard was about to get in but the bomb distracted him if she didn't come they all would've died or at the very least vander and vi wouldve
@@shyguywearingtie5491 yea but she didn't know that unfortunately
Alternatively, if she hadn't have put the two other crystals inside, the explosion likely wouldn't have killed them all.
I mean, without her explosions the mutant would have chased them down and killed them easily, in a cruel twist, killing two of her friends and makimg her dad a mutant saved her sister, without that mistake it's very likely all of them would have died as they tried to run from a gang with a monster.
Surely they could have kept them on until the final battle.
The cool thing about the scene is that while it is tragically showing that if powder didn't show up they would have escaped but she did set Silcos plans back by inadvertently killing the scientist and destroying a lot of their supply.

She's just so happy something worked when she falls like that, not knowing what she just did and who she hurt. The irony.
Man, that slow mo shot of Powder/Jinx falling with that music, it hits so well for some reason.
2:07 And the voice inside my head cried out
*Inhales*
SHIIIIIZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
The monkey bomb is three crystals, one in the trigger, two inside. When the first crystal exploded, it made the other two flying. While the first crystal killed the guard and absorbed Deckard in the explosion smoke, the second crystal flew to the lab floor damaging the scientist and the third crystal flew through the door wall to celling killing the boys.
Had to rewatch this scene several times for the fx animation. Incredible.
The moment that they show powder falling from the explosion cleansed my soul, this is the most memorable scene for me.
Impossible! A comment and a thread not defending Jinx for being "a KiD".
I've been called a clown for saying the same thing you said lmao.

If this was a marvel movie, Powder would've have somehow saved everyone with the explosion. But it wasn't.
Probably the best done explosion animation sequence I’ve ever seen. This show is beautiful, shocking, so we’ll shot, and smartly written.
At the start of the ep, we see silco falling underwater with blue colors
Before the end of the ep, we see jinx falling with color blue
Yeah I think it's mean to represent a moment of change in their characters. Silco was baptized in water and arose a different man. Powder was baptised in her explosion, arose as Jinx.
We did it, Patrick, we saved the city
She was a child
What makes it worst is that she sides WITH THE ENEMY RIGHT AFTER THIS.
@@imsentinelprime9279ikr he literally killed her family. Kids r dumb
I really love the sound hextech makes. And it's consistent even when Vi makes the shield in the last episode.
In most of the shows, powder would have saved everyone, but here, she reduces a building to ashes and hurts both her family and her enemies.
And it’s realistic, when you give a nine-year-old girl extremely powerful explosives, it can only end badly
Yoo why my adc Jinx's are never getting triples like this?
so u want ur jinx to kill ur teammates

Doubles... Only two people die in this scene.
Jinx does a little bit of trolling
Now keep in mind that Jinx winds up a monkey toy in the "Get Jinxed" music video that is continually intercut with the rest of the footage - and shows up at the end of her dream as a giant enemy.
Have you noticed how messed up Powder has to be to cheer of the explosion she has caused? I know, she thought her actions have saved her familiy, but still, she's in awe with the wanton destruction she enacted. That girl was messed up way before becoming Jinx.
I think she was just excited she made a gadget that worked, but it is weird that she seems to have always had an interest in explosions abd bombs
New ultimate looks sick
That’s why you don’t give a nine-year-old an extremely powerful explosive device.
Bomb: *explodes*
Announcer: *Triple Kill*
I just want to give everyone (Except Silco's crew) a hug they look like they need them :(
How about the Brackern?
Pre explosion:Finally! Her bomb will explode!
Post explosion: oh shit, but the explosion wasnt that big last time
I cried with how beautiful this was.
Poor powder could never catch a break. Even when things work for her it still turns out wrong. :(
Just the monkey on it's own as a distraction would have bought them enough time to escape.
_One_ crystal instead of three might have been a small enough explosion to do what she wanted without killing her family.
Given Powder's sharpshooting skills displayed earlier, if she'd had a gun instead of a bomb, she might have been able to kill the shimmer-mutant without endangering her family.
It was _so close_
Ah, what could have been.
Guysss remember the hums you hear in the explosion are the souls of a race where these crystals
are stolen from.
And here is the scene that makes me cry without fail every single time
One of the best animated scene I’ve ever saw
Mylo saved Vi, becase if he didnt free Vander from the locks, Vander wouldve never been able to save Vi.
I don't get it.
well in her place i would have done the same, as a kid it's all about being overkill
@@nunuduro9660 And yet she was surprised she killed almost everyone.
She probably thought one stone wouldn't be enough considering the guy was damn near mutated those bombs barley did anything to him regardless so her thinking multiple would've done the trick is normal mistake for a child
The answer is, she's a kid and kids don't think that far ahead.
source: I work with them.
She is a kid, she is in the heat of the moment, she doesn't know everything that has just happen. She only know that her family is in danger and that she has the mean to stop the danger
Kinda funny how her signature spell in Legends of Runeterra is the Monkey Bomb
Dude Shimmer really beefs you up. That bomb killed people who were behind stone walls and that guy took it point blank and was up in minutes.
Jinx really has a tragic story. She just wanted to help her friends but fucked the situation more in the process.
It's interesting how both in this scene and the final scene of the season Jinx weaponized the hextech.
Mylo and Claggor were my favourites, RIP
I just noticed this, Powder had 4 gems but she only uses 3 gems for her monkey Bomb 🐒 💣 . Doesn’t that mean she has 1 unrefined gem hidden somewhere?
Okay I love this scene, but FALL DAMAGE IS A THING. I seriously thought brain injury was gonna be the cause of her freaking insanity since she fell on her head from like 50 ft. but it's never addressed. 1:42 and 2:20 show the dramatic shots. Literally one of my only issues with the whole show.
Yeah I agree, that all came how been solved if they made it so that this building was builted atop a lake.
She landed safely somewhere
The hextech gems stones have been shown to have an anti gravity effect. She's not falling. She's floating because of the magic crystals.
Man this was heart-wrenching. I was like wtf when is that monkey going to stop? STOP! They're dead!
If someone asks you how best to manipulate emotions in a story, show them this scene.
Hahaha sister my monkey bomb finally worked, I saved you all
Damm the way Sevika jumps infront of Silco❤️ i love that woman!!
I realized the metal pole that impaled mylo was the metal pole that claggor used to break the wall evidenced by
2:06 when he was impaled the metal pole was no where to be found
The fact all this happened just because of powder is funny
I cried so much during this scene
1:57 So that's why Uzi didn't show up with RNG at Worlds 2021.
Thank you for sharing this, but I think it's a single explosion being shown from different perspectives.
Regardless, this scene is just pure genius!
