Complete worlds apart yet 12:00 something clicked and I realized how similar we are as people. @@MotoGearSolid I don't care who, but throughout a person's life, EVERYONE HAS THEIR CROSS TO BEAR IN LIFE at one time or another. Kurt has bouts of depression, and that is not unusual. It's what he does to get/stay out of those bouts that counts. At present I am dealing with both my parents being ill (my mom has very late-stage Alzheimer's; dad is in remission from lung cancer), and I tend to both of them daily, in addition to balancing my work, and having to live my own life (it is NOT easy, to be sure). Over the years I have had to consistently fight against depression setting it, and in doing so I have found ways to not only keep depression from setting in, but simultaneously uplifting my mood. Just simple things like taking a 15-20 minute "sun bath" (VERY good for vitamin D and creating endorphins/mood enhancers), and getting some cardio in helps a LOT. Just those 2 things can make a huge difference, and they have helped me tremendously. Hopefully Kurt discovers little "tricks" to help him with his depression, as he seems like a good guy.

While on active duty, I made fantastic friends in Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Japan without speaking more than a dozen words of their language. They spoke more broken English than I spoke of their languages. All I did was show an interest in how THEY live and a willingness to follow their customs. The people I met shared what they had with me, were very welcoming, and accepted me because I accepted them as they are and where they are. Very few American non-Muslims were welcomed as dinner guests into Muslim homes. I was and even asked to stay in Saudi Arabia and work there. Very few Americans were were invited to sit down with Bedouins in the desert for lamb, flat bread, herbs, and hot tea. I was. Moreover, I was invited into the homes of Korean and Japanese families to dine with them. People appreciate foreigners who demonstrate an appreciation for them.
