    • @Symphoniics
      @Symphoniics Před 3 měsíci +7

      @@layne4376I hate that video because both drivers made critical errors with the EN. In race 1, EN driver didn’t know how to turn and get the car into boost properly (he admitted it). In race 2, EN driver couldn’t figure out how to use launch control (he blamed the car). Funny enough, GTI driver said it looked like the EN was using NGS because it was quickly catching up to the GTI before the turn (EN driver said after the race that he did not actually use NGS at that time). Ultimately, driver error hurt the EN badly and it still only barely lost.
      There’s another Edmunds video comparing the GTI, EN, and WRX in an autocross type environment and the driver who tested all 3 said the EN was clearly the fastest and most powerful-it also got the best time by a lot.
      What’s happening in Jvette’s videos is a consequence of gas used. The EN is heavily dependent on 93 octane. It is essential. Is it annoying and stupid? Yes. Is it legitimate tho? Also yes!
      I also don’t want to discount Jvette’s content because frankly it is some of the best stuff out there. It’s careful and scientific. These videos have seriously fleshed out the mystery of EN octane learning and the truth about the performance of a lot of cool cars. I think there’s still a bit more work to do tho.

    Octane learned to what? stock is 15PSI, 16-20 PSI is Octane learned, so technically even if it shows 16PSI its "octane learned", with these cars just because it octane learned doesn't mean its 20PSI off the bat so you have to check what it gets to. On a typical day I don't try to octane learn and it still does it gets like 16-17PSI, if I go to the highway right after filling 93 I get about 18-19 so still a little bit of a difference.

    octane makes big difference at that 18-20lbs, i have a 2024 sonata n line with a jb4, on anything lower than 93 octane it isn't happy on map 3 even with new plugs and gaps. I had a heavy modded older gti at the track and we matched times in the 1/4 pretty much but he blew his clutch sadly. I was running at best low 13.3's that night. This weekend on true e30 i ran 13.17 with map4 "holds boost longer". My friend with a 23 EN came down and was full octane learned on 93 no mods and put down a 12.9 vs my 13.17.
