I just took my 2024 M2 on a 300 mile trip through central Oregon, mostly 55 mph speed limits. I never got bored or tired driving it and it got an overall 31.6 mpg for the whole trip. The car is in still break in period with 700 miles so I went easy. I did notice it does turn the heads of teenage males. It was a pain to get out all the dead bugs out of the front grills and of course the wheels were covered in brake dust. It was a wonderful drive and the only thing the car is missing is the center lane keeper, where the car steers to the center of the lines. My Golf R had it and my wife’s Honda Accord Touring has it…and I miss not having it on the M2. I had to concentrate more to keep the car centered. It’s not a bad thing…it’s just something I like in a car. Other than that, it’s M2 all the way. If I were to get an Audi, I’d save some money and just get the Audi S3 or even just the Audi A4. I’m totally turned off of the price of the RS3. In Oregon, dealers are charging $10k to $15K over MSRP on the RS3.

you gotta manual shift into the gear you want to start at but then shift it back into D once you get going to get the best shifts

I was going to buy this for my wife until I found out it has a rubber belt running in oil. That was a deal breaker. As oil begins to get dirty it becomes very acidic. That acid will do a number on that rubber belt and if it begins to deteriate, pieces will be in the crankcase and they could block oil passages and starve the engine of oil and it will be toast. No thanks.

M2. I’ve gotten into both Audis and BMWs, and Audis just don’t feel as good in terms of ergonomics. One dimension always feels off. The space in the BMW and all of the touch points are incredible while driving on the track or an auto cross. The handling inspired a lot of confidence in my experience.

M2 wins, but imagine how sweet it would be (and sound) with an engine like the naturally aspirated S54.

If put the RS3's transmission into S mode, it will change the gear shift points and keep the engine in a Rev range that makes it a lot more responsive.

I always looked at the RS3 as a M240 competitor in terms of price and performance. We can't get the RS3 in Canada but isn't the M2 a lot more cash equally equipped?

At the end of the day which car is more fun to drive and which isn't. That's the easiest pass-or-fail test for a sports car. It's all about driver engagement And Audi's have always felt numb and boring to drive.

The M2 exhaust sounds much better to me while you are inside the car. How much of that is the soundakktor?

I was able to afford a GLI, but I will not be able to afford an RS3. Too expensive to buy and maintain. And the streets in Houston do not deserve such a beautiful car, full of potholes everywhere 🤬.

Perfect garage. I actually like Audi and BMW both. Audi’s tend to be much more balanced (which I totally get why you chose one as your daily) and BMW’s lean towards more of the sporty side, which you might not be in the mood for everyday. Either way both excellent machines!

I dont think the turbo lag on the rs3 is that bad but I have not driven it personally so I cant say for sure, its definitely pretty quick but given it was over 110 degrees outside the performance was probably affected a bit. The m2 isnt that much faster but it is faster, both are mid to high 11 sec 1/4 mile cars with ideal conditions. I did see a vid of the 2022 rs3 on a drag strip that ran an 11.76 at 117, but the guy in the description said in his other run he did 11.55 whitch was the fastest stock 2022 rs3 , not sure what the trap speed was but im guessing it was around 118 to 119. But in this 110 degree weather the m2 definitely looked quicker. Nevertheless both awesome cars.

This might be a dumb question but with an e85 tune you’re just switching the fuel and flashing the ÉCU right? If that’s the case will the engine reliably run with no issue. I know that not every car is 100% bullet proof, but you can have lemons. Any idea of long term issues with a tune.

Best engine I've had in a newer F150. I get 29 in the city and 32 highway. Also he tried this test in normal driving mode. If he used sport mode it removes the first gear and really makes it launch.

B58 sounds better imo but the performance in that S58 is unmatched. I don’t think they’ll add xdrive to the G87 M2 comp either because it’ll hurt M4 xdrive sales

I have a '23 RS 3, which I bought before the M2 came out. Would I have changed my mind if the M2 was available? No. I'm 5'10, so my height isn't an issue. Put the RS 3 into comfort mode, and it's like driving a cushy highway cruiser. I routinely get ~ 34 MPG averaging 70 MPH on the highway. Put it in Dynamic or RS mode, and you can run with the big dogs. When I was looking at cars, I compared the RS 3 with the Boxster/Cayman and found that you get slightly better performance for $30K-40K less with the RS 3 over the Porsche - plus two extra doors. Regarding the M2, yes, it's a great car, but, for me, I can't stand the dash, which looks like some tacked a couple of iPads on and called it a day. In addition, the styling leaves me cold. I've seen a few on the road and it's not one of those designs that looks better than the pictures. At least you don't have to look at it while you're driving it. Furthermore, there are some features that are stock on the RS3 that you'll pay for on the M2, like the cell phone charger. If I recall, an upgraded suspension on the M2 will run about 4 large whereas the RS3 already has the upgraded suspension. Anyway, great video!

I own a 2023 S3, Im 6"2 and I literally have none of these space issues. My issue is for all that car you don't get modern tire pressure gauges that tell you your tire pressure in real time, no ventilated seats, waaay to much gloss black surface to scratch and get finger prints on. Also give me a button to enter launch control mode, so I don't have to turn the AC off, turn TC off and turn sport mode on. Anyway maybe don't buy a sub compact sedan if you're Wreck-it-Ralph over here tryin to fit in that thing . Could of went for an S5, AMG CLA 45, BMW M340i xdrive(or M440i cause it's still cheaper than the RS3), CT4-V Blackwing, AMG C 43.. etc.. Or you could down grade back to the MK 8.5 when it comes out next summer too.

German cars are fast on e85 only way the tune can actually make them fast and make a big difference tbh. If you read this and have a German car, you will need meth or e85 to really notice difference a difference with a tune sadly
