Problems with Drugs and Crime in Kensington Ave, Philadelphia
In Philadelphia as a whole, violent crime and drug abuse are major issues. The city has a higher rate of violent crime than the national average and other similarly sized metropolitan areas. The drug overdose rate in Philadelphia is also concerning. Between 2013 and 2015, the number of drug overdose deaths in the city increased by 50%, with more than twice as many deaths from overdoses as homicides. 2 Kensington's high crime rate and drug abuse contribute significantly to Philadelphia's problems.
Because of the high number of drugs in the neighborhood, Kensington has the third-highest drug crime rate by neighborhood in Philadelphia, at 3.57. The opioid epidemic has played a significant role in this problem, as it has in much of the rest of the country. Opioid abuse has skyrocketed in the United States over the last two decades, and Philadelphia is no exception. In addition to having a high rate of drug overdose deaths, 80% of Philadelphia's overdose deaths involved opioids, and Kensington is a significant contributor to this figure. This Philadelphia neighborhood is said to have the largest open-air heroin market on the East Coast, with many neighbors migrating to the area for heroin and other opioids. With such a high concentration of drugs in Kensington, many state and local officials have focused on the neighborhood in an attempt to address Philadelphia's problem.

Truth is hard and this is a poor neighborhood. Poverty breeds depression, illness, desperation and loneliness. These factors make drugs an escape for people. Why are we not thinking ahead a little because fixing this won't be easy or quick. First, some of these have given up so they no longer look for help, then others are just caught up in living one day to the next. We know NO ONE in government, city,state or country has ever wondered where their next meal is coming from or where they can go to the bathroom. But sure, house the immigrants and give up on the hopeless... that's the plan 😢💔

Is it sad yes ...also we must understand all the people you see on Kensington HAD A CHOICE they made the wrong one..none of them will get off of Kensington until they decide enough is enough..until that happens they will continue that's facts..I was there at one time in my life I was willing enough to say enough was enough. For some that day or decision never comes but that's on them!!!!!

I like the summer vids where the homeless chicks aren't wearing any clothes, and I know I'm not the only one.
Combined with interviews It's good educational material to scare off youngsters who want to try harddrugs, for a bigger effect these people who suffer a lot can visit schools in person.
In my country the Netherlands these shocking scene's are unknown because once a different system of approach was chosen,seperation of soft and harddrugs and good education about the terrible consequenses (harddrugs) People are able to test the harddrugs like heroine (US politicians didn't like that approach at all). Softdrugs are sold in coffeeshops in the Netherlands while in other countries there was the opposite approach...restrictive and agressive but they always had much more soft drugs and hard drugs users.
In 2010 retired Dutch politicians were going for a different mindset ...regulation of all harddrugs but their parties were against. Lately it's again on the agenda. They see possitive effects of regulation.
When it's cold... lets say 0 degrees homeless and addicted people can find shelter but in the US people have to survive in the bitter cold.It's a disgrace. Another prove the US is a much tougher society than ours.
Will legalisation or regulation work with the US, problems are so so much worse than in my country.
More than 50 years war on drugs,costs US taxpayer 1 trillion...result? It's time for a radical change. That war can't be won.
