Im really worried that Kaladesh just destroyed historic. I foresee some major bans are going to be needed on cards like aetherwork marvel. Like, they brought cards that were SUPER broken and just shoved them into historic. Mono brown decks are crazy broken right now, and they gave the already broken decks massive buffs. Nice janky deck tho! Super hyped that engine is back. Ive always loved it.
I'm waiting to see aetherworks marvel and ulamog eldrazi etc.

@@chihshiangshee9002 you havent run in to any yet? At least half of the decks Ive played against are some form of aetherworks marvel decks. Its so frustrating because theres almost nothing you can do against them.

I literally read about this deck and wondered what it looked like, went outside to make dinner and twenty minutes later came back to you uploaded this. Fantastic.
I don't always like seeing combo decks, but when i do, it's because LVD is playing them.
Nice deck! I appreciate your content and will give some positive feedback: The biggest reason why I like your content is that the decks you choose to play in your videos, you also seem to have practiced with before producing content about them. A lot of MTG content creators just go like "Oh, today we're going to try deck X!" and then they punt their way through every game, making the viewer feel as if they've never piloted the deck before. The fact that you manage to brew spicy things (that actually looks viable) and have a soothing voice are also neat bonuses.

This deck reminds me of the old thousand year storm unmoored ego deck, in that the combo is almost more miserable on arena to perform than it is to lose to

All that opponent had to do was send 2 damage Karn's way to prevent it from completing the combo, yet the elementals player somehow thought it was more important to get him to 4 life rather than 6. Opponent definitely deserved that loss.
Love a good storm brew. Mono brown is just the icing on the cake.

I remember doing the paradox combo using a captain Jhoira EDH. keeping track of mana and cumulative lifegain from aetherflux in paper magic is soooo much painful I abandoned that deck after a few sessions

a bit late at night but i can never reject a VD video
I played this deck today and hats off to you man. I recovered from 1 life to the poimt where I won. Even the strixstadium didn't help my opponent.

I haven't looked at Kaladesh or any of the spoilers and when I heard you explain what Paradox does I did a spit take. Pretty rad with mana artifacts. Great deck.

Absolutely love this deck. I had the same thought but I wanted to make a mono black build and leverage the life lost with citadel with aetherflux and just spam life to get to the same position. I will definitely be building this brown version though!
No interaction and no creatures = you better ramp and find the combo pieces fast or you'll get run over by aggro.
It is such a beautiful deck I really want to build it. But it requires a bunch of wildcards for Kaladesh rares/mythics and I worry that without Karn or a perfect draw it will be run over by any decent aggro (not just goblins).
You do have some built-in lifegain and Blast Zone which helps against traditional aggro. Usually want to mulligan into some 2 mana ramp especially when on the draw. Not claiming every aggro matchup is good, but it's closer than it may seem.
It also helps when some aggro/midrange opponents don't respect Karn enough to kill him at 3 loyalty :)

Hey, I created a pretty simular deck in mono blue with emry being the main engine. I had a game with a turn 3 win. Obviously a perfect hand:
Turn 1 chromatic sphere
Turn 2 mox amber - Emry - Mindstone
Turn 3 paradox engine
I was so lucky cause emry milled a second mox amber
That one copy of inventors’ fair is paying off big time. Always there when you need it 😄

Combo so easy and good he doesn't even bother playing optimally or as focused as you'd expect from LvD. :)
I've been playing a version which uses Oven and Metalwork Colossus on the maindeck, that's kind of an infinite loop that can result in infinite mana or infinite life, the Colossus by itself is usually a 0 mana 12/12 so it's pretty cool anyway

Have you considered splashing blue for emry? You can use it to cast your entire graveyard with engine, possibly going infinite with any sacrifice artifacts like chromatic star.
What do you mean by “Full Control?” I think I need further explanation. Love the content and keep up the great work.
Mtg arena without full control likes to insta-pass lesser used priority opportunities (where you have an opportunity to cast/activate something).
Full control tells arena that you want to do every little thing manually, and allows you your priority opportunities to react to your own spell casting/ability activating.
LVD has to activate arena's full control to be able to use his mystic forge ability right before the paradox untaps everything again.

Is this version better than the Ugan Ulimog variant? It feels faster but also easier to pick apart.

Does the format need decks like this?
Question: when you activate Aetherworks Marvel to deal 50 damage to your opponent's dome, does your opponent have priority to do anything in response? Or is it like sacrificing a creature as a part of a cost, so no priority is given? (e.g. Witch's oven sacrificing any creature)
They can respond to Aetherflux Reservoir before it deals 50 damage, but paying 50 life is part of the cost.

You totally need to do a deck with Crucible of Worlds, Ancient Greenwarden, and Nahiri's Lithoforming. There has to be some sac all your lands and replay them all right away combo! lol
I've played against similar version with Sai and Witching Well and of course lost to 50 damage in the face
so how do you deal with it hoping for artifact removal all the time?
Kill before the combo, counterspells, discard, Karn, ...
I've never seen so much floating mana in arena. 13:00 117 mana just waiting to be used

@@NecromancyForKids which isn't really a problem when you have mostly artifacts and you can play chromatic lantern stuff
How does this deck do against agro and control
I've been playing a similar variant of this deck in diamond rank. Against aggro, you can reliably drop Forsaken Monument or grab it with Karn (who is a great distraction after he grabs an artifact for you). Once FM is in play, gaining life to stabilize is cake.
Against control, you do have to bait out counterspells as usual. If you are patient, and manage to get the combo pieces in play you are set, just a matter of not getting countered.
That said, aggro is a harder match up imo. You can usually pop off and win turn 5-6, but aggro wants you dead sooner than that obviously. Blast zone is *chef's kiss* in those situations if you draw it. Ugin fits nicely in the deck obviously.
It's so much fun to play, I recommend it!
How long til paradox engine gets banned?
On paper this is easier to build than the typical ugin/ulamog colorless ramp. Equally lethal as well.

@@assidbath94 Make sure to float your mana by double tapping Q. Quickly go in and out of full control when going off with Engine and Forge.

It's an option, but it's not really needed now that we have Forsaken Monument to double our mana.

Playing urza Styles deck with Karen on base shut down this combo. jajaja. Always people xploding. Uro+emry+goose+rebuke+karn. Ending with flux by amber emry paradox on side is. Agood infinite. With paradoxical. Midrange control combo deck. If u want i give my list to you.

Bring back the brown colour for artifacts. The new shit is difficult to tell between them and white. The old colour was way better.
Like most of your jank decks, its greatest strength is that your opponent probably doesn't understand what you're doing and doesn't know how to play against it. I lost to this earlier today because I thought I needed to play around Ugin.

And get Ugin outta here. Theyre reprinting all of the broken artifacts. There was a whole big deal about them trying to fix colorless stuff by giving them colors but then they reprinted cards there was no reason to reprint. Dont get me wrong, I love mono-brown, but it should never be a good/meta deck.
@@bencouch1178 yeah i agree with the sentiments on ugin and aetherworks for sure. as for the mono brown stuff, i think theres no harm in it ebing a meta deck tbh. The problem happens when the mono brown cards can just fit in wherever they want to be. Colourless NEEDS to be deisgned in such a way that even if it is strong, the only deck which can harness that power is a fully colourless deck.
First step for that of course is STOP PRINTING CARDS LIKE UGIN AND MARVEL FFS.
(i do understand though that its very hard to design cards which have dont have colours to restrict them from being put in any deck. wizards have to do better in anycase if they want to keep printing interesting colourless stuff.)
